@415piggy Actually, if you count the 4 suspects and the 4-5 people who encroached on officers, refused their orders and one of whom attacked a cop, the police were outnumbered 2-1. If you want to add to that the dozens of people on the train becoming hostile, cops were outnumbered 4 or 5 to one, minimum. Mehserle panicked, and commited a criminally negligent mistake. Absolutely he deserves jail time for shooting him. He should have confirmed it was his taser and not his sidearm.

this is so devastatingly sad. What a beautiful young man-- and he was cooperating with police when he was shot! A nightmare. I'm pretty new to the Bay Area & I noticed a lot of cops here walk around with a big chip on their shoulder. I remember my in Cupertino on Thanksgiving day I went to the video store & was leaving during dusk & as I was pulling out I forgot to turn on my lights but I did it myself a minute later. Cops then pull me over, one standing behind with his gun drawn while my kids are in the back. I was shocked. And they gave me a ticket for $140 dollars. Thats when my view on police changed alot.

It may have been an accident, but you can't afford accidents like this.. Proper Training should have been administered. I have held both a taser and a hand gun and know that there is a drastic difference. It should have never even got to the point of having to pull out a Gun or Taser.. Oscar wasn't endangering them..
