When people moan about what they don't have, I don't automatically want to completely change our entire country so the government gives it to them. I want to know the details. What kind of home do they live in? Do they own a bigger house than I do? Do they drive a fancier car? Have they really acted responsibly over the course of their lives or do they maybe have what they deserve already? Government doesn't ask any of those questions. Let me tell you a story. I was driving through our local ford dealership today and came across a little red late 90's Dodge Dakota. Body had no rust what so ever interior was spot less and on the windshield was cars. I stopped the sales man and asked what was going to happen to that truck I need one. He looked at me and said that truck is going to be hauled off and the engine destroyed. Why I asked. He said it only got 16mpg. Cash For Clunkers is a joke.

People should push "clunkers to plug-ins" so the government would have job creation in the environment and recycling industry and create competition, training, and research development among auto parts industries as well. I'm going to agree with you as well. Everything GM before 1970 was incredible. The closer their cars get to 2009, the more they are akin to disposable razors, the greater the percentage of parts made overseas, and the greater the number of cars made per hour. The name GM has morphed from General Motors to Generic Motors to Government Motors. Whole different company now than the company it was intended to be. Until now, it has ridden the coattails of the 50s and 60s GMs.

Economies are built from people serving their fellow man. C4C pays them to NOT serve while punishing tax payers, who DID serve and now get nothing for it. If you have special needs then you shouldn't expect to pay the same $300/mo. as the average person. Insurance is risk management. If you are particularly risky, then you should pay more. That's only fair. And if you can't earn enough, then you need to turn to charity. Even basket cases are not entitled to slaves. Charity is by definition freely given. When people moan about what they don't have, I don't automatically want to completely change our entire country so the government gives it to them. I want to know the details. What kind of home do they live in? Do they own a bigger house than I do? Do they drive a fancier car? I was glad I worked hard and bought that health insurance instead of a bigger TV or a fancier car even though it wasn't as fun, because I was covered at the hospital. If you have a strong case, lawyers will jump at the chance to not charge you a dime. They'll get 45% of the settlement if you win and usually it won't even have to go to court. Even with a weak case, gobs of John-Edwards-type lawyers will represent you for free because even weak cases get settled out of court just to save money for the insurance company. I have read my own policy and I've been very satisfied with my coverage. You're imagining some widespread problem that doesn't exist.

To say that health care is so important that we have to nationalize it is to say that health care is so important, we need to take 75% of all the money budgeted for it and throw it down a bureaucratic toilet so that only 25% of the money actually ends up providing health care. The bank bailouts were bad and C4C is another subsidy for these institutions. (There are hundreds of thousands of loans being created through this program.) But the bailouts were in part owed by the government after the feds spent decades force-feeding crap into our mortgage market, which poisoned the entire system. C4C Dumb Economics: Any so-called stimulus program is a ruse. Government increases its spending only by reducing private spending equivalently. Whether government finances its added spending by hiking taxes, borrowing, or by inflating the currency, the added spending will be offset by reduced private spending. The program will backfire. In the short-term, sales figures will look better on paper. In the long-term, everyone suffers through diminished buying power of the dollar, more taxes, prices of cars going up, and affordable cars harder to find. No one dares ask or mention where the billions of dollars comes from and this my friend is the scam. Either more US dollars will be printed or the govt will borrow from China, Japan, or some other sucker. Either way the people get taxed.

B3 Fuel cost ($3)

B5 =B4 * B3, fuel cost per year

At $250 per month, it would cost $60 per week in fuel, but compare to the car payment cost. The Camaro would cost $165 per week, the Aveo would cost $100 per week.
And if your clunker got 20mpg (as most do), then $125 per month. If it got 30mpg, then $84 per month.
Suddenly $22 to $35 in fuel per week doesn't sound all that expensive any longer, does it? :)

Spend thousands for a little fuel efficiency? Suppose your existing car got 10 pmg, and fuel was $3 per gallon.
The Camero gets 29mpg and costs $27K on average. The Aveo gets 34mpg and costs $14K on average. At this rate if your existing car is paid for, and assuming a 48 month 0% interest loan, it would cost $648.71 per month for the camero with 10K miles per year. It's $365.20 for the Aveo. Only $250 for clunker.

Let me tell you a story. I was driving through our local ford dealership today and came across a little red late 90's Dodge Dakota. Body had no rust what so ever interior was spot less and on the windshield was cars. I stopped the sales man and asked what was going to happen to that truck I need one. I'm going to agree with you as well. Everything GM before 1970 was incredible. The closer their cars get to 2009, the more they are akin to disposable razors, the greater the percentage of parts made overseas, and the greater the number of cars made per hour. The name GM has morphed from General Motors to Generic Motors to Government Motors. Whole different company now than the company it was intended to be. Until now, it has ridden the coattails of the 50s and 60s GMs.

I'm so glad I'm not one of the eight idiots still falling for Obama's smoke and mirrors at this point. The fact that new car sales have risen even slightly proves how many dumbasses there are in this country. At any dealership in the past 15 years, there's a been standing offer to get $3k for your junk vehicle towards a trade-in. The remaining $1500 maximum return is a drop of your tax money being loaned back to you, only to spend on a vehicle that will depreciate 35% after the first year.

Why are our tax dollars being used for people to buy new cars. I do not drive clunkers, how about giving me a 4500 dollar tax exemption. Stop this feel good terrorism, Audit the federal reserve Now!

Dude so true man, so true, cash for clunkers may suposidly be working but its really stupid 1ce you get into what they do with the vehicles, it gets sickening. but Awesomnesss Ron Paul audit & destroy the federal reserve!

I always bought GM but now I will never buy a GM truck as long as the Goverment owns any part of it. My next truck will be a FORD. That is the last great american car company left.
