Re Jake's painful masturbation incident, it sounds like he tore his frenulum a little bit. I did this three times when I was ~20 years old. This is pretty common--kind of a male version of "popping one's cherry"--and nothing to worry about, it's really just a "growing pain" of the frenulum. Re circumcision, most guys I know who got cut as adults say "I had no idea how much sensitivity I would lose!", so hopefully Jake will never do that to himself!
