  • Most criminally underrated film of all time.

  • Jason was SOOOOOOO cute in this movie. And sad.

  • Sofia is like fer name. Lovely and effortless with a slight upward turn at the end

  • i love sofia and kirsten and " marie antoinette " but...

i fucking hate jason , i think he played the character very well because he is as stupid as louis auguste

  • @javoutube1

whore face. Jason is thee man.

  • Keep up the good video work looking good. When you have time come visit my channel!

  • Keep up the good video work looking good. When you have time come visit my channel!

  • STOP saying LIKE so much.

  • Hah Sofia looks moody here! :) I like.

  • Sofia's so beautiful, natural and smart.

  • Jason seems to be so cute !! :)

  • The guy asking the questions is totally ghey

  • She look's like a young Eleanore Roosevelt.

  • @Mr020466 OMG she is prettier than Elenor Roosevelt

  • hippie

  • People don't like her because generally her acting is poor and generic and visually she doesn't possess the beauty or charm of most popular scarlets, just sayin'. Either way, love this movie, love Jason!

  • @ghettoarcade I think shes super hot. She seems nice, like i could imagine, and this is kinda sick. Me and a fmale, with me sayin " lol do it like kirsten in that one movie!"

  • This was posted two days before Marie's death. R.I.P

  • i adore them all! marie is a gorgeous film =)

  • sofia is wonderful!!!!!

    i love!!!!

  • Lost Again in Translation.

  • luv kirsten...!! she's great...!!

  • I LOVE JASON! He's so endearing!

  • I didn't totally love the movie but it is not a biopic it's Sofia's portrait and her interpretation so shut up about it being perfectly accurate!

  • I didn't like the movie but i love Jason!

  • i love jason thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis much!

  • @paulinefranzen Jason Swatzman looked like Sonny Bono's illegitimate monobrow monotone homeless lovechild

  • Everyone! It's not supposed to be accuarate its supposed to show that she was a very young women who was forced to grow up very quickly, it shows that she wasnt the women history makes her out to be she wasnt evil, she was just a good woman and mother who was forced to be a child bride and teenage queen!

  • jason is my hero

  • marie antoinette is one of the best and most original movies in the last years.

there should be Lance Acord or Steve Coogan instead of Jason Schwartzman.

  • Are you kidding? Sofia made an entire movie based on the "tabloid" esque lies and myths about Marie. The biography she claims to have loosely based her movie on is all lies and heresay as well. I DO like the movie, but I hope people who watch it don't expect a grain of historical accuracy. Do not watch the movie and think you are actually learning about Marie. Find a REAL biography or read the wikipedia article on her, it's 100 times more accurate that Sofia's rendition.

  • Are YOU kidding? I know it.

And I don't give a shit about the accuracy in any movie, if it is a good movie it's all right. And Marie Antoinette is a great one.

I don't expect any historical accuracy, If you want it watch a documentary or find some history books.

  • Really clever there repeating to me exactly what I just told you. Don't bark my own comments back at me. And it is not a great movie by any means whatsoever. It's good, but it's not great and only someone who hasn't seen any other movies would think that.

  • First: I don't understand why did you started the discussion about the "accuracy" of the movie with me, because my first comment here has nothing to do about it.

Second: I love cinema, and I think Sofia Coppola is one of the most original directors of the last years. Marie Antoinette is a great movie, if you can't appreciate it's a shame.

  • I took your calling it "one of the best movies" to mean you thought it was true and after all of the studying up on Marie I have done it almost hurts to hear people say this movie is great. It implies that people believe it and it's such a bunch of lies.

  • Well it looks like you were expecting historical accuracy in this movie after all. I didn't, and I think that people who knows that cinema is art and not a history class didn't too.

  • Well on the contrary I was not. But this isn't going anywhere and we've both said our pieces. How can I possibly argue with such an expert? Enjoy your great movie.

  • Thanks :)

  • blah blah blah wah wah wah

  • The Godfather trilogy is brilliant.. all in all!

  • yeah what you're saying is all true, but you have to view this more in art and artistic value because that is the kind of director she is.

  • I loved the style of this movie!

    It's indescribable, but it's beautiful.

  • Marie Antoinette is the most inspirational movie and i really love how she put all of the music in it, and made it younger...because really marie antoinette was sort of slaved into being in a queen...she was not wanting to be one...and the person who wrote about sofia being a spoilt brat can goa and screw themself

  • jason seems a bit nervous

  • the thing that did not work was that in real life antionette was cueen for a long period of time. not just as a teenager. So I think she doesn't have an excuse for being such a bad countryleader. The movie is making excuses for her that I don't think she deserves

  • Yes, she was queen until her death at the age of 37. there was plenty of time given to her as queen. Nevertheless, because she was a woman of Austrian descent in the country of France she was virtually powerless. She was not trusted.

  • Does Sofia Coppola really direct a film

  • yes, 3

  • 8:00-

Sophia: "A follow up to Lost in Translation?"

    Jason: "Lost AGAIN in translation."

  • how come people think she is unattractive,

    wtf????

she is geting older, but she was michael corlennos teenage daughtetr in godfather 3,

you are not weird to find her attractive,

i think she is a beauty

  • She's not a "classic beauty" and many men find her unattractive, but I am oddly attracted to Sofia Coppola.

  • really? i can't believe that a lot of men find her unattractive. there is something really intriguing about her and i her beauty.

  • really? who finds her unattractive? that's crazy talk!

  • a bunch of guys. Never made Maxims list

  • that makes me sad that ppl don't find her attractive. why? because she doesn't look like all the other sterotypical "hott" girls in hollywood. anyways, her unique beauty makes her much more memorable than the "megan fox's" of the world.

  • I agree, and that's why think that she is attractive. To me, Meg Fox is the girl next door, Sofia is the standout.

  • this film is beautiful to watch!!!!

    i mean, its visually stunning!

    sooo dont diss it!

  • Someone named a bag after her; her greatest achievement. At least something that daddy's daughters' ego didn't wreck in the name of art.

  • i dont think it was supposed to be exaclty historically accurate, but it was based on antoinia frader's biography on marie antoinette so im sure it actually was quite close.

but then, it's a story, it's a movie, it doesnt have to be accurate. it just has to be interesting. and personally i think it is.

  • this movie is not too off, it doesn't folow like a strict biography but it tries to get one to look at her in different ways, the why's of what she did not the actual things and events themselves.

  • It must have been basically accurate considering that it was based on a biograghy. And that wasn't supposed to be the main focus of the film. It was trying to get you to look at Marie Atoinette in a new way. She was just a young girl who had wealth and responsibilty thrust upon her. What do you think a modern teenage party girl would do with seemingly endless weath while she had nothing else to do? It was trying to get you to think differently. And I think it worked.

  • the thing that did not work was that in real life antionette was cueen for a long period of time. not just as a teenager. So I think she doesn't have an excuse for being such a bad countryleader. The movie is making excuses for her that I don't think she deserves

  • Very true. I just liked that it gave a fresh view from the condemning accusations that are usually made for her. She grew up a certain way and that was what she knew. I do also agree with you though.

  • These people are fucking retarded/ I personally thought the movie was visually stunning. Of course their are arguments that people have made that there wasn't enough dialogue and that there was contemporary music in a period film, but look at Sophia's past films, Lost in Translation was almost a SILENT FILM! it's her style, and these asshole critics are incredibly rude.

  • I had a mixed reaction to it. I loved everything about Lost in Translation and even though Marie Antoinette was visually stunning I didn't find the story as engaging or involving as LiT. You should try watching Amadeus (the film that Sofia said inspired her) and compare the two films. It might help you might understand why some people didn't enjoy Marie Antoinette.

But I agree with you that it was beautiful to look at. Milena Canonero definiately deserved her Oscar for that year! :)

  • Beautiful movie!

  • is anyone gonna give me my money back? That movie totally sucks and Sofia Coppola ruined Dunsts career!

  • "The virgin suicides" and "Marie Antoinette" with "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" are the best movies made by Kirsten Dunst. What else? Spiderman or Elizabethtown? I don't think.

  • Almodovarfan89 i can see how much you know about movies....Marie ANtoinette was a good looking music video at best....no intelligent being can put Sunshine and Marie in the same category....dont ever bother to reply, im finished with you!

  • I don't put Sunshine and Marie Antoinette in the same category, you have a great imagination!!! They are both good movies!!! I've finished!!! I know you'll write other stupid things but I don't matter

  • Almodovar an Sofia's movies are for freaks no wonder they have a hard time getting financing in hollywood.....just wait and see if Sofia gets to make another movie...jijijijiji....she blew it with Marie partner!

  • you're actaully saying other people don't know about movies? you completely missed the point of marie antoinette it wasnt to show history as it really was

  • i suggest you keep a copy of the movie then, that may be the last you see from Sofia....

  • hahaha your so funny not

  • I have to say I agree with your 'good looking music video' comment. I love the look of it and the attention to detail in the costumes and art direction, but for some reason I couldn't connect with Kirsten Dunst's performance (which let the film down for me) although Jason Schwartzman's was wonderfully quirky.

In some ways this movie reminds me of Milo's Forman's Amadeus, but unfortunately not as well performed, written or directed. A handsome looking film though!

  • If Sofia is so good and this waste of everyones time called Marie Antoinette was such a good movie then tell me why is her career in the toilette...nobody wants to put her at the wheel anymore...

  • bla bla bla, I'm sorry but you don't understand anything about cinema!!!

  • I dont understand anything about movies and i am a video producer.....what do you do, youtube movie critic?

  • well this is mature...

  • alessandrokaka1

no she didnt she showed marie antoinette as she really was not what the french pampleters made her out to be!

  • No matter my arguments and i have to many to count. Marie Antoinette was a commercial failure and Hollywood is done with her..

  • speak for yourself

  • I don't think anyone but you cares that it was a commercial failure. If you didn't like the film, that's fine, but there's no need to be a dick about it to those who did.

  • yeah i no this persons making us out to be idiots becuase we like a film!!!

  • nbgfgkjnkjhnhg i thought i loved jason before

but after this, christ. he's perfect.

    he's so cute and nervous.

  • this is brutal

    the movie is very weak

unless you are a 12 year old girl you will think this is brutal

    Dunst and Coppola deserve eachother

    Schwartzman is useless

  • Forget it Loup...these are all die hard fans. They are all dellusional...funny thing is, they are just as many as the ones that went out to see it at the theatres.....

  • I am in her new movie.

  • i luv marie antoinette i luv the life she lived

  • Why are these people talking about the making of this movie in such celebratory mood?????? Reality check bozos....this movie failed at the box office!@

  • well just because the general populace didn't like it doesn't mean we have to agree. We have our own opinion as do you!

  • Wonderful insight from Sofia and Kirsten! Jason went on for a bit too long, though. He was basically repeating himself.

  • Jason would look so much better with a shorter hair cut and no facial hair...

  • I know, evrybody s sayn that Jason is ugly -well, actually he is- but in the movie he was hot...(without a beard)

  • hot!? as louis xiv? no way. he does not have an ugly face imo.

  • dramatical IS a word

  • the questions they asked...

  • Dramatical is not a fucking word.

  • ur not a fucking word faggot.

  • You're a faggot, you fucking word.

  • you're a make less sense you peice of abortion shit.

  • You're an abortion you shitless piece.

  • Hahahahaha.

  • Hahahahaha.

  • Hahahahaha.

  • Hahahahaha.

  • Lost !again! in translation.

  • kristen is so great¡

  • i love you

  • najlepsza jest Kiki w 2:07, łatwo ją rozśmieszyć

  • i loved the film, but i was dissapointed about the ending ... not dramatical enough.

  • not dramatical enough? they died at the end, even if we don't see it.

  • hahah yo that new york, she be dramatical

  • i was hoping to see more as well. i wanted to see the tragic ending to all this but unfortunately it wasn't shown. Yet...it's still a fantastic movie!

  • Jean-Jacques Rousseau's Confessions, In Book 6 1767, he recalls: At length I recollected the thoughtless saying of a great princess, who, on being informed that the country people had no bread, replied,"Then let them eat pastry!" Marie-Antoinette arrived at Versailles from her native Austria in 1770 the 'great princess' was - possibly Marie-Thérèse , it wasn't Marie-Antoinette.

  • jason schwartzman is excellent at playing ugly guys with comically large noses.

  • yes. but i love him.

  • I love Jason.

  • i love sofia coppola

  • Not to say that Sofia Coppola is a bad director but is anyone else bothered by the children/brothers/relatives etc. of famous people becoming artists in the same field? Nicolas Cage is also a Coppola.

  • Yes.

  • "I think the only modern thing about the movie was the soundtrack"

Not strictly, mysticalTaxi. In one montage you can spot a pair of converse sneakers.

  • i didnt like the movie at all. except of how it was shot and the costumes but Kristen Dunst was not good. But yes ppl should know she didnt say let them eat cake it was actually her mother who said it.

  • I love that woman!

  • So do I, she's really brilliant: Virgin Suicide, Lost in Translation, Marie Antoinette, the video clip with Kate Moss... She's a great director and I just can't wait for the next movies! :-)

  • I loved that she used new wave music in film like cure and others

  • no one knows for sure if Marie Antoinette said "Let them eat cake" or not, I mean, well never know. But this film was based entirely off of a certain biography of Marie Antoinette, and in it they say that she most likely did not say that. It was all propaganda, all the allegations against her printed by an angry people who wanted to lash out at thier queen. Another big rumor was that Marie Antoinette was a lesbian.

  • it is supposed that another queen 100 years earlier said "let them eat cake".

  • That's not an entire accurate translation of it though. She didn't exactly say cake, she said 'brioche' in French which is a time of sweet 'bread' (think muffin meets Kingsley)

  • yes, i know;) but that is not the point

  • LOL yh, sorry, it was just sitting there, had to go for it.

    I love this movie though

  • Sofia Coppola sounds wishy washy, kind of oblivious to her own stupidity. I saw the movie and it was a sorry excuse to make a historical event more modern. Coppola didnt know if the rumors about "let them eat cake" was true..? shouldn't she have people get on that kind of stuff, do a little research? Well at least the movie had interesting dialog... NOT! more like lack there of. the movie, to me, was superfluous. Jason Schwartzman...is um, like,um ..like you know, um..an idiot.

  • I think the only modern thing about the movie was the soundtrack - and why should that be confined to classical music? Music is universal. People have been trying to figure out if Marie Antoinette said "let them eat cake" for centuries and it's generally agreed she didn't. So she did do her research!

  • Just because an actor is awkward, there is no need to be so vicious.

  • wow, mary corleone is a director now!

  • wow this was pretty boring.i only saw this cause kirsten was in it.God bless Her.=)I Love Her From the Bottom of my Heart.

  • I just watched Marie Antoinette yesterday it was such an interesting movie!

  • { because she could }

  • thats a great point! i never really thought about that saying, Art is not a history book. you must be very intelliegent (spelling) when i become a director, which is what i'm in school for, i'll think about that!

  • I think this is a great film, sofia is just so good at transmitting emotions through her films.. I mean, what would have been the point of making a historical film if everyone already knows about the story? Art is not a history book.

  • What the hell do these Tinseltown perverts know about history ?

  • Are they...perverts???

  • Jason is so cute...thank you for posting this clip...LOVES!

  • He is :]

  • I saw the movie. It was insightful, however, There were enriching historical events which were either played down or totally excluded. Marie Antoinette was one of the first individuals to be the victim of bad PR. It was nice to see things from her perspective. She was a queen who was severely insulated from the realities outside the palace walls. She wasn't as evil as we thought. I can see similarities with the Romanovs' of Russia. It's sad, but that is human nature.

  • i just watched the film today. twas alright. not great. not le suck. but good. that's all.

  • ok interview. people always murder Kirsten's name, lol

  • kirsten is so cute, she seems so little and adorable.

i enjoyed this press confrence, i like the answers the actors gave, as well as the director. Im very happy to hear she watched "AMADEUS". I think ill like this film, once i get it on DVD. And to think i bought AMADEUS to tie me over till the dvd release lol.

  • my favourite character in that movie was louis XVI couse instead of saying i feel that or i do that he had to act it in the most subtle way and it was very interesting to watch.. also he was a very nice although too shy personality in the movie but he seemed as very decent and good person..

    thats just my opinion..

  • I agree - I personally prefer him to the Count d'Artois. Jason Schwartzman did a fairly good job in the role, although I, personally feel, its a little weird doing a film on real people with real events, in contrast to a fictional story.

  • You are friggen mad, ever see The Godfather III, she is georgous... unbelieveable ! Smart to and that always shows - love to see more screen time of her...

  • thank you so much.. but she is name kirsten..not körsten (: kirsten dunst nicely ;)

  • lol, yes I agree. It's pretty funny though cause it's not a hard name to say.

  • People always butcher Kirsten's name
