  • i sit in my room all day and play this on guitar while whistling the lead melody

  • Personally think Edge is THE Ninja. Shadow to me, isn't a ninja. He is an assassin.

    Both equally badass occupations.

  • @PokoWorks Edge is badass, i have yet to finish this game but i played that game enouph to know edge, tellah, and cecil are prety cool... with there own flaws of corse

  • @DerrickJMitchell Tellah's only weakness is spoony bards

  • @sharkmaster99 curse them spoony bards.

  • I remember being six and playing this game for the first time on SNES, and sitting in the cafe where you first meet him for hours on end, just listening to this. XD

  • badasses of series: Shadow, Auron, and Locke

  • Jennifer Lopez - On The Floor ft. Pitbull search this and then go to 1:45, cause youtube wont let me post the direct link to the video

  • Does anyone else think the new JLO and pitbull song sounds like the intro to Shadows them? lol go to 1:45 on her song "On the Floor"

  • You're a jerk if you didn't wait for Shadow on the floating island!

  • "So we meet again...Leave me alone..." Shadow's such a badass, even more than shadow the hedgehog. Yeah, take that you shadow the hedgehog fans.

  • @Pyro25100 I don't really find any sort of animal ''bad-ass'' especially a hedgehog, so shadow wins ;)

  • @TheEnforcerOfJustice Woo, high five! lol

  • 5 pepole thought this was the shadow the hedghog theme well now thers 5.... im one of them

  • @Carlos328 You're cool -_-

  • watch?v=HABYaIn_Xd8

    my remake

  • ...The dog eats strangers.....

  • equip Umaro w/ Snow Muffler, and he'll have immunity to most magic (except non-elemental). his base attack stat is high from the moment he's recruited. so, yeah, he can withstand a lot, but he can't be controlled (which is my point). there are plenty of dangerous enemies that have extremely action-specific AI-scripts. if those scripts aren't strategically countered, you're whole team could end up dead regardless of your strength. I personally hate him for berserking on Relm and killing her. >:(

  • shadow is ryuhayabusas bastard son

  • Naruto and Yuffie take notes; THIS is what a real ninja is like ;)

  • equip him with the striker and the assassin and the genji glove and the offering relics and you have one PURE ASS RAPING MACHINE

  • for me, characters I don't like = Shadow throwing their weapons. I don't know why, but I find it amusing. I would certainly never throw a Magus Rod since there are very few of them and I happen to like Relm and Gogo. I used to not like him very much, but Strago's grown on me. btw, I think Umaro sucks.

  • @CTSael If you have a game genie Umaro is one of the best characters in game. Cause you equip him with dual scimitars and have him go crazy. But in bare bone version, yeah, Umaro is the weakest character.

  • @CTSael Umaro actually can be the strongest character in the game (or come very close) if you equip him right, he will resist a lot of spells. I remember when being lower level Umaro was one of the only ones who held up against onslaughts of spell damaging where everyone else died during the final battles and whatnot, just because he could hit very hard and resist everything, but ti takes certain special relics.

  • @overkill1340

    My thoughts exactly.

  • I love how Shadow kind of has a western cowboy theme. XD

  • @Enocent1 You know, this song somehow makes you think of a lonely and somewhat sad life. It fits good to the image of a man who lost everything. It makes me think of a man who can't stand the sight of his own face in a mirror. Well...Shadow. ;)

  • I named my Doberman Pinscher Interceptor.

  • @darklinkx8 u are a true shadow type i named my cat shadow

  • probably the only ninja with an old west theme song that can make it sound badass...

  • Think he is an american ninja, behind that mask was david dudikoff lol

  • One of my fav chars. It's funny how he can throw pretty much anything in your inventory for great dmg :D

  • 4 people didn't wait him at the floating continent

  • Shadow: the Ninja of the old west.

  • @AMcGrath82 Precisely my thoughts... and strange to think its not more popular idea.

  • IM SORRY SHADOW I DONT DESERVE TO HEAR THIS SONG BECOUSE I COULDNT SAVE YOU THE FIRST TIME I PLAYED THIS GAME!! *CRY*

  • @hump1388

everyone makes mistakes sometimes, don't worry ^^''. Plus, that's always a very close call, I'm always afraid he might not show up eventually D:

  • 4 people have been eaten by Interceptor.

  • He comes and goes like the wind, swearing allegiance to no one. Hidden behind his wintry gaze lies a face known to none who live...

  • Shadow is the best character in FF6.

    Well besides Sabin.

  • Shadow has Ninja abilities and stats but he's an Assassin dammit. I mean, that's even his main role in the game; an assassin. -_-;

  • *Walks in the sunset with this theme playing loud* ^__^

  • it a wonder why i said fuck ff13 and went back to this.... perfection

  • shadow is the best ninja around and if you say no he'll...nah i'll let you guys give examples.

  • Let this guy die during the floating continent escape :(

  • Ah this song is just beautiful. Subtle but so up for interpretation. A lone road for the lone assassin. There's something about Shadow... <3 He's definitely one of my favourite FF characters and the number one ninja in my eyes :D

  • Although the game doesn't say directly, but he is implied to be Relm's father.

  • judging from this theme, shadow would have been more appropriate with the name "clint eastwood"

  • A man who couldn't bring himself to save his friend from prolonged death and left his family behind to keep them from discovering the truth. He ran away at first because of fear, then he ran away to protect his daughter. He only stops running during the ending, ready to face whatever comes his way.

Shadow's character development is subtle, but I like interpretive backstories, so he's one of my favorite RPG characters.

  • "Leave us, the dog eats strangers." - Shadow

  • Clyde, One of the coolest characters ever imo :) Hard to beat that guy.

  • for me, the best rpg character theme's eveeeer !!!!

  • As a kid I always thought Shadow was a knight wearing black plate armor, instead of a ninja. This is because of his headband, It looks very vaguely like the visor of a helm.

Also wtf at the championship wrestling belt he looks like he's got on :P!

  • he'd kill his best friend for the right price

  • Wait until there's only 5 seconds left before you jump off The Floating Island or you'll be sorry...

  • @onemike951 First time I wrapped the game, I was just a kid and I jumped off the island JUST AS I SEEN SHADOW RUNNING TO CATCH UP. I lost a lot of sleep that night. :S

  • By far the most badass person with blue skin ever!!!

  • Folks, this os the reason why Final Fantasy VI is the best one.

IT HAS A REAL NINJA FOR GOD SAKE! WHO WOULD SLIT HIS MAMA'S THROAT FOR A NICKEL!

    Instant win.

  • @darkemg Are you saying Edge is not a real Ninja?

  • @wavepsychic Edge seems to head-strong to be a ninja, I think Rogue would fit him better

  • i always thought he was ... oddly attractive ... lol .. i like him

  • maybe if they ever make a DS remake of FFVI, they'll go deeper into the pasts of every character. im still wondering if shadow's partner really was kefka

  • @Minan3 Actually, in FF6 you can find out Kefka's back story more(sort of) in the pub in Vector if you sneak by all of the soldiers wandering around. Also the official guidebook on it said something like Kefka and Celes etc. growing up in Vector along with how Kefka snapped.

  • @MasterAsra didnt kefka get twisted off of the same thing that celes went through? you know, the experimentation. i like it when I dont know about a final fantasy, it makes me want to find out. what if umaro was a human but was forced into a project that mutated him? i mean, all the characters have to have some story XD

  • @Minan3 Yep, Kefka was the first person to receive the injection of magitek into his body. But yeah. Gogo and Umaro have the least characterization/background though. r__r I think even minor characters like Owzer had more. Maybe. I think the final fantasy wikia has most of the data on him that's from the book though, but it might be partly inaccurate.

  • Has anyone ever seen his dream sequences? Damn, I wish I hadn't... His name is Clyde or something corny. I wish I'd never seen it.

  • I told my brother that Shadow was a Cowboy Ninja when I first played the game years ago. His mind blew. He said that cant be possible.

And I said "oh but it is. Shadow makes it work."

  • " i'd heard he'd slit his mama's throat for a nickel " yeah i thought the currency they used was gil ???

  • @Drpissed Thats actually a very valid point o_O how did that guy learn of nickels?

  • @homestar888388 Probably a translation error.

  • @homestar888388

In the original SNES copy, the currency was just G. It was never called Gil or anything, so it's safe to assume nickel meant whatever. ;)

  • @homestar888388 It seems that although Terra has magic, Edgar has the supreme power to break the fourth wall.

  • @homestar888388 They don't use gil in the American version (FF3), so, the currency in the English translation isn't gil either.

  • @homestar888388 he's foreign. probably american born raised in japan ahahahah

  • @homestar888388 Perhaps perhaps nickels ar to gil what they are to dollars....

  • @homestar888388 Divisions of gil, maybe...?

  • @homestar888388 maybe gil is for the basic money and are the lowest currency? OR to make it sound awsome its the currency of the ancient civilzation before the esper war

  • @homestar888388 Same way Kefka learned about submarines. :P

  • @homestar888388 Actually, it's possible that nickels exist within the Gil currency and are simply never mentioned. Since the player never actually knows what the actual coins used in the Gil currency are, it's quite possible that there is a coin within the currency which is made from nickel ore, or used to be.

  • @homestar888388 @Drpissed

Coins are made of nickel(the metal), although called dollars, reais, rubles, et cetera. So, a nickel would be a gil.

  • @totazilla

Gil might be made of nickle. You'd slit your mama's throat for "some nickle", but "a nickle" would indicate the coin.

  • @homestar888388 apparently shadow came from the unknown west. :O

  • @homestar888388 5 gil = a nickel. Doesn't mean gil don't come in different shapes and size amounts! But I'm just speculating into the mistranslation. I see someone has already posted a similar reply, haha.

  • @Drpissed "And at the right price, he could kill his dog."

    But yeah...whered they find Nickels here? O_O;

  • @EaliFey Interceptor? No... never. He wouldn't kill the dog for anything. Not the dog... He went into the burning house in Thamasa to get him back, didn't he?

  • @onemike951 I read somewhere aty a quote or description somewhere. i'm wrong maybe. But yes, he went back to Thamasa to save Interceptor.

  • @EaliFey Fortunately for Interceptor, the price would be a constant flow of wealth originating from the Minting Stations of every nation, along with the current world's treasury. . . times 42.

  • @TheAzureNightmare Woah D: That's alot. and evilt to: Never killing my best friend. x]

  • @EaliFey Hey, keep in mind! Nobody would want to pay THAT much for some mangy mutt's life, am I right?. . .

  • @TheAzureNightmare Interceptor is not mangy! D:< He's a man's best friend!

    And not me! ; ^ ;

  • @Drpissed maybe 100 nickels are one gil ^^

  • @Drpissed lol ur so right lol

  • @Drpissed

And how do you know that a nickel isn't several gil? So closed minded...

  • @Drpissed 'nickels' could be any form of minor fraction of currency of gil. Much like in usd dimes are 1/10th of a dollar, or in dnd 'copper pieces' would be pennies. Just because the main focus of currency was measured as one whole does not mean it didn't have fractioned currency. As their is no know cap to gil in ff6 it was just too minor to add to the game. Cheers.

  • @veriden22 you know you could be right or the creaters could of made a slight error but ah well i like to think of it as your way that its a minor currency

  • @Drpissed The truth is more epic.... Shadow pwns so he can know :D XD

  • @Drpissed I believe ff6 is measured in gp (gold pieces) anyways. Gil didn't really take until 7.

  • @Drpissed

Huh.... I never picked up on that until I read this.

  • @Drpissed actually in FF6 they call em GP's

  • @Drpissed Maybe a nickel=5 gil

  • @Drpissed maybee a nickel is worth .05 gill

  • @Drpissed it's GP on snes

  • @Drpissed Maybe it was slang or something.

Perhaps a nickel meant 5, maybe 10 gil.

  • @Drpissed He meant a piece of nickel :P

  • @striker360

No. He definitely did not, because Edgar says "A nickel" instead of just "nickel". Which you spelled wrong, by the way.

  • @killerkirbydude I spelled it the same way as you nerd-rager. and the the :P signifies it as a joke. rage harder kid.

  • @Drpissed GP hahahaha gold pieces in ff6 but I laughed my ass off at this comment!

  • sounds more like the a wild west theme, not a ninja theme

  • @EddieEddieEddie90 well ff6 did have a western feel to it, that just how I see it, most of the music from this game has a wild west feel to it.

  • @EddieEddieEddie90 He's a ninja cowboy, and that's awesome.

  • Awesome song

  • meh I always preferred the term assassin over ninja =\ but yeah truely one of the best characters ever brought into a final fantasy game. yeah yeah I'm going to say it, with as disturbing as this character was, he was almost goth, and in my opinion the only one.

  • u do know that he is relms dad right, i still have seen all the cut scenes

  • His past is quite strange...

I got one word to say about this guy...

    Mysterious.

  • has anyone ever wondered what would happen if amarant met shadow. they have similarities and im pretty sure a showdown will occur.

  • shadow > shinobi > kage-maru > ryu hyabusa > DOA ninjas > average ninja

    thats my ninja breakdown ;D

  • I can whole heartedly agree.

  • @AgentSpinhead As much as I love Shadow, I'm going to have to say Dr Mcninja > than all of them.

  • @AgentSpinhead where do the Naruto ninjas fit on that scale? :P

  • @TheCakeIsDelicious since almost EVERYONE in that series IS a ninja. i would stick my favorite/high ranking ninjas between ryu hyabusa and the DOA ninjas. maybe even higher but im not too much of a big fan of them [i stopped following after shippuden where it got good basically] :[

  • @AgentSpinhead In my opinion, Ryu would be 2nd, but that's just me, and Edge would be in there somewhere.

  • @rawman44 oh nah i respect that. so would eiji kisaragi from the snk fighters but not too many ppl know bout him hahaha

  • i always love hearing this song!!!

  • I thought Shadow was a Knight the first time I seen his sprite.

  • shadow, looks like ninja from Renaissance . He looks artful because of the belt and helmet , but still he is one badass ninja:)

  • I really enjoy this theme, however I never thought that it truely fit Shadow's character.

It's tone always reminded me of a cowboy deathmatch.

    Shadow: DRAW!!!!!!!

    Relm: Okay!!!

    Shadow: NOT YOU RELM!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I think you're right. But the music supports the image of the 'lonely' cowboy/rider, and THIS suits to Shadow :) Like the cowboy has his rifle, pony and himself, Shadow has his sword, dog and... himself.

  • well in his dreams, he WAS a train robber. That would make him and outlaw, whose first met... in a bar... with just his dog beside him. He would fit in a japenese wild west show lol

  • how many dreams he has?

  • @zombeye24 Four, but they were originally planning a fifth but never made it.

  • THAT HAPPENED WITH ME TO! me and my bro were play ff6 together (its 2player btw) and the dog came across the screen and finished off the train

  • same

  • If you did anything to that train other than having Sabin suplex it, you did something wrong.

  • best character after terra and sabin but best song in the game besides the overworld theme.

  • What about a FEATHER (Phoenix Down) killing a train!? lol

  • haha that used to be nice showing this to friend they were like OMG what's that spell!! haha

  • The fastest shuriken in all the west

  • ShadowXvincent=Cousins! Borht have awesome thems. Shadow is a badass

  • One, Final Fantasy is epic, from FFI to FFX-2, then XII and beyond. (Down with XI)

Then again, I'm a `fanboy` of FF, have been for years.

  • Why did they give a NINJA a SPAGHETTI WESTERN Theme song?!!

  • Cause hes an assasin, a lonely soul who wanders around alone. He would kill his best friend, for the right price.

The theme discribe his personality very well.

  • wellll..the thing is he ditched his best friend to die slowly...FOR FREE!!! :D lol

  • i think he was more portrayed as a mercenary/outlaw type more than a 'ninja'. The western times had a lot of those types.

  • That's HIGHLY plausible... a mercenary / outlaw dressed EXACTLY like a ninja who fights with daggers rather than double six-shooters.

    Got anything else?

  • the whole stereotypical maverick lone rider estique thing i guess

  • ugh i hate shadow for ditching you...several times

  • Interceptor's byte was stronger than Shadow's attacks! o_o

  • i know hahaha i always thought it was funny how the little dog was so much stronger than him

  • FF turned to shit after 6

  • And it was shit before 6. 6 is the only Final Fantasy game that doesn't suck.

  • 4 is good...maybe 2 as well.

  • Disagree. X was BEYOND all my expectations. 12 wasn't much further behind, except that the politics in the story were a little tough to follow the first time.

  • so true....they need to make a remix of this game for the ps3...

  • Damn the FFVII fanboys for giving Vincent his own game and forgetting that Shadow was way better as an optional char. Nt a V good Dad tho...

  • Vincent = pretty cool

    Shadow = Awesome

And he has the better theme anyways.

  • Ah, Shadow, one of my favorite video game character ever.

  • I don't see that at all.

  • LOL at the pic! "HELLO LITTLE CHILDREN! I'VE GOT SOME KAN-DEE FOR YOU!"

    XD!

  • My favorite line was always "The reaper is always one step behind me". Awesome.

  • In the GBA version they changed it to say "Death is always one step behind me"

  • Great phrase.

  • @longvue indeed :D

  • @longvue DAMN YOU!! I was going to post that! ;)

  • "Leave us. The dog eats strangers..."

  • LOL!

    That was an awesome line...

  • LMAO I remember that! My favorite line he says in the game!

  • Hahaha. Yes, that was a good line!

  • When I first heard this it baffled me, a ninja/assasin gets a western cowboy-like theme but it doesn't just work it kicks ass!

  • It kinda makes sense, given his origins... (protip: if you have no idea what I'm talking about, spend some time sleeping at the inns with him in your party)

  • oh snap! you just laid down the protip! lol

  • Shadow was always my favorite, nevermind his effectiveness...he just looked cool. On the other hand, I've always thought he was one of the more powerful characters. His throw ability lost effectiveness as his level rose, but the fact that a block could be countered with Interceptor gives him a slight edge. And, of course, his theme song is the best!

  • Interceptor was so overpowered when you first got Shadow...

    Siegfried: En Garde!

*Slashes at Shadow, but gets blocked by Interceptor and gets hit by takedown for 953, and dies intstantly*

    -Victory!-

    Me: ...

    Siegfried: GhEeEy H4x! :O

  • "he'd sliit his own mothers neck for a nickel" by far one of my faves

  • loved this guy and Interceptor. old weapons? not a problem *TOSS!* 9999 dmg

  • 2 of my favorite chars on ff6 for the Snes version Cyan and Shadow
