@mahlersfirst dude, IMHO, your just wrong. As a multi-instrumentalist w/8+ yrs tour experience, I think they r playing just fine. It's called style, you know, every group has their own??? If u think I'm bullshitting, I'd b glad to post links to my tunes. Just don't want y'all to think I'm trying to push my music on you like some folks on here. But for real, your just wrong/jealous, you prolly don't even play,Troll
@troyhutson this type of music is not my favorite, although I def like it. Your comment is one of the most inteligent I've read in quite a while. Bless up brotha!!!
We really love this band. Phosphorescent did a live session with freqControl at Headgear's recording studio before doing basic tracking at Headgear for "Here's to Taking it Easy". They performed 4 songs (1 of them is "At Death")
To people complaining about how "tight" the sound is... if you want something that is incredibly tight listen to an orchestra. The uniqueness is in the imperfections. This band wouldn't be the same without them. Matthew Houck wouldn't make it very far on American Idol either but that doesn't mean he can't sing. Sometimes the most wonderful things are in unconventional packages.
Saw them yesterday on the same bill with The National. It was great but the acoustics of the venue weren't so friendly to them which was not the case with The National who blew them away.As great as Phosohorescent are The National has that special something which graces one band out of millions.
Well, if you're going to make such a claim in opposition to mine, you're going to have to support your claim with concrete facts/observations as I have done.
Again, keep in mind that I like this music. I simply question the assertion that they are masters.
This is good, don't get me wrong. They're just not tight, man. The tempo doesn't stay steady (especially in the last 2 beats of each 2-measure phrase), and there's just a touch of phasing.
And if you're going to say "but that's not the point," then it needs to sound more like they're not playing clean on purpose. As it is, it just sounds like a mistake.
Hey we are a new studio in Florida, and we have been getting some of the best bands in orlando to do a new web-series called Off The Avenue. Check it out.
@casualxcasualty Apparently you don't get this infused type of music-these guys are masters at what that are creating!!! This song has no mess in it! Listen to it a few times...you'll get it! : )
Ha rrataczak my friend and I met them and got pics with them in texas to in Austin and Houston. They are incredibly kind and were so great opening up for David Gray.
Dear Matthew Houck,
Please marry me! I love you forever!!!!

maybe not masters, but direct, emotional band, just like Television long time ago and just like Midlake and National today.
