  • @madregoose Yer those people have no life.

  • Beautiful~Thank U~ Oneness Love Light Happiness Supreme Infinite..

  • wonder if nangangain ng tao to

  • That is amazing!

  • i imagine that the secuestration of the beetles also ensures their safety from predators and makes them more likely to still have pollen on them when they go to the next flower.

  • these plants are dicks

  • that is some cool stuff, I wonder what they smell like

  • Was I the only one thinking,

"It's like the mini waterlilies from Minish Cap, except our size!" :D

  • You can run in the water with this..... HAHAHAHAH

Here in Brasil is called "Vitória-régia" ;)

  • 3:50 the beatle is like: "OH MAAAAAAAAAAN! WATDAFACK WAS THAT???"

  • six feet = 1.8288 meters @@

  • it is so amazing how nature works man, just amazing

  • @jlo7000 bahahha you fucking legend!!!!!!!

  • i want a pancake now

  • like pussy........damn....omg.....

  • ok so the beetles fertilize white flowers.....so then wat exactly happens to those white flowers then?

  • The flower and plant is called "Vitória Régia" in Brazil and it's part of many indigenous myths. One of them says that a man can stand on the leaf. But it's not truth. In fact, this leaf cannot bear a man or kid standing on. Only small or medium sized (not heavy or fat) birds. Under the leaf there's much hard thorn and can hurt you seriously and you can be very sick due to viruses and bacteria. Among these plants there are also many poisonous snakes and alligators preying.

  • The amazon is fucked up, everything is poisonous and dangerous

  • @horbergaren To protect itself from the humans who destroy it!!!!

  • @bookluver0908 fucking idiot

  • tht beatles like "the FUCK just happened?"

  • its lombre the pokemon lmao

  • Who dislikes videos like this?

  • The beetle was like: "you used me, bitch!"

  • This animal-abusing plant makes me angry. I'm not sure if I should eat it in response. Some water lilies have many edible parts. Is this thing poisonous?

  • @rg0057 Why do you call it an animal-abusing plant? Because it uses animals to to pollinate? All flowers do that. Though most give nectar in exchange for the pollinating service (this video didn't mention if it did). I don't understand why you're angry though, the beetle wasn't hurt. In fact, it probably was protected from that lily trotter mentioned.

  • @jaygee514 well said! PHLEBAS does not understand right from left! Nature knows best! what do WE know???

  • @rg0057 Any given beetle is probably trapped once or twice every week, but they keep going back for more nectar. Can't be that bad, hey?

  • Damn nature! You beautiful!

Seriously, this is an awesome clip. It really gives one an appreciation for nature's complexity.

  • whos fuckin idea was this..

  • @CBeerzy

    You already know.

  • @japplegren thanks for your words of wisdom ...=P

  • There's pictures of kids sitting on top of these. lol.

  • wow love these bbc videos

  • the flower is like the big brother house XD!

  • How is babby water lillies formed?

  • wow such a strangely complex fertilization process - makes me wonder if the flower doesnt really know whats going on :)

  • @quosmo1 I was also amazed with the complexity of the fertilization process. And almost all fertilization processes in this world , if we look at the details, is as at least as complex as this one. Looking at this, I can not help but say OMG, literally Oh my God. Because all this extraordinary complexity, beauty and wisdom can only only be done by an all-knowing, all-wise and all-power source, what we call God. If one does not see this, s/he will say that the flower is all-knowing, all wise.

  • @chicagoistanbul no. thats not what i meant at all! lol.

a complex process is exactly what you would expect to find -- its still 'wow' but i dont go from there to magical mythical all-knowing grand daddy in the sky.

  • Comment removed

  • @quosmo1 Of course I know that you did not mean that. However, it is funny how you call it magical mythical grand daddy in the sky. My point is clear, if there is no God who is doing everything, you will have to accept billions of Gods (God: who is all-wise, all-knowing all- power-full etc). You see the signs of ultimate wisdom, power and knowledge in the universe everyday, you watch some of them with open mouth and yet you say this is happening by it self. How funny is that?

  • @chicagoistanbul i can only deduce that you must be a troll, as such a ridiculous conclusion is an insult to human intelligence.

    /end

  • @quosmo1 Well, seeing something extraordinarily complex (even millions of things in this universe at least as complex as this one), organized and well operated and saying that it is done by chance or out of nothing is not against the human intelligence and saying that there must be a power behind all this is stupid. Yet you claim to be intelligent. Even you do not know what is going on inside your body right now. If the balance of your body is disturbed an inch, you know what will happen.

  • @chicagoistanbul, your main error lies in where you say "done by chance" or "out of nothing". Natural selection is not random. Anyways, best of luck, glad I could correct that for you.

  • immoral bastards: sun hogs, and beetle kidnappers

  • @robitebob beetle rapers.

  • Beetle: Did i just get laid?

  • damn at the end it was like titanic all over again

  • lmao rapist beatles much?

  • 10 people who disliked this should go headfirst into some commercial grade fertilizer vat

  • hmm can i walk on it?

  • Very interesting.

  • Amazing that we have all this knowledge and science and still some people believe in gods. Religion is poison.

  • @bary1234 That's not exactly true, I wouldn't call religion a poisen. Hell religion prob is the reason we're here today. But there are some ignorant people who think that all the things we have discoverd is a hoex and still think they are acts of god, are just thick

  • @scoutfreak1 : Religion is useless superstition. Imagination has enabled us to survive and develope, it has been essential to our evolution. We are prone to superstition, but superstition is still a major source of misery and evil. So we should try to understand what is real and what is fiction.

  • @bary1234 Religious ''factions'' basically ''gave'' order to this world, but they did it by intimidation (threatening people with eternal agony), which made some of people, including me hate god, if it even exists, it's probably psychopatic and sadistic. (I think ''gods'' are just genetical memories, instinct, evolution, physics and some hive minds).

Religion itself can be used to force people into doing what you want, or to give people hope. It's a double-sided nonexistent sword.

  • @bary1234 shhh, zeus will hear you.

  • nature rocks

  • @hamdanae actualy the cells that makes the plant have a sort of brain that is a nucleous, this stores all of the information and tasks it does,

  • Nature is just so freakin awesome.

  • That beetle was stumbling out of that flower like "Oh thank God, Get me out of here!"

  • The giant waterlily is one of nature's bigger dicks. But each time I watch this video, I find myself in the same amount of awe as the first time. This plant knows its place and takes what it wants. It's one of the best examples of the matter-of-fact, unforgiving bluntness of nature.

  • this is kind of funny when the beetle is trapped for 24hrs, and has pollen all over....poor beetle!

  • I remember these from a really old Tarzan movie.

  • We now so little of the Amazon rainforest. The species concentration in the virgin rainforest and its rivers is so immensely high. Stop destroying it, so we can continue discover more of the most amazing species, which are unique to the Earth, and at the same time to the entire universe.

  • @laurens890 hahahahahahahahahahahaha you said virgin

  • @laurens890 unique to earth and the universe? for all we know theres another planet just like earth somewhere.

  • @oOThomasT23Oo Life in the universe is possible, but not the same as on Earth. It is impossible that life on another planet takes the same evolutionary course as on Earth. Probably even the building blocks would be different, no DNA, no proteins etc. In that view, species on Earth can't be found anywhere else, no matter how many trillion miles you travel.

  • @laurens890 No, it's more important to burn all the trees and slaughter the life there for paper money

  • @laurens890 you cant tell people to stop destroying it. im sure you buy bananas that have been produced on land which was once rainforest. or own a house that might have been built with lumber from it. maybe you should stop supplying these people with money and they will stop destroying them and find another source of income

  • @DOTCurrency It is important that western demand changes. I do not use tropical hardwoods, eat less meat, and eat brazil nuts every day. If every one in the western world would change their habits, deforestation probably will slow down a lot.

  • @laurens678 true true

  • When he said "six feet across," my eyes went wide.

  • Your plant videos are amazing and you have a soothing accent.

  • @Fellinijr its david attenborough -_- not the guy that made this youtube account

  • @goldenrocks11 aww damn! why'd you have to ruin it! actually Life/Planet Earth crew did the same thing.

  • i was just thiking why did someone dislike this video

  • i wanna go to the amazon and put my dog on one

  • i feel sorry for those beetles getting "help captive" to fertalise the plant then you know its just gonna bugger off into another plant!

  • Amazing!!

  • The flower is dragged down back into the murky water after its job is done? Somewhat creepy.

  • lmfao

  • so is the internet but it is less fascinating

  • @Hobomaster99 your right the amazon is a breeding ground for weird shit.

  • @Hobomaster99 and the lungsof the world.

  • @Hobomaster99

Earth is a breeding ground for amazing shit.

  • @Hobomaster99 Seeing you call it that, makes me wonder if you really care. It´s nature, not crap. (why on Earth did they give this guy thumbs up.. nature is not crap people!)

  • @FinalHype

    No, nature is not crap

Although your understanding of current linguistic behaviours, may be.

The term 'shit' does not only mean fecal matter. It is used to describe anything on the users mind at the time. Obviously he used the term 'shit' to describe animals and plants. So, use the little bit of brain power, you so desperately need and stop putting someone down just because you cannot comprehend their language. ie. look for attention elsewhere

  • @Eightleggedmoth I know that, It´s disturbing that someone says that anyways when nature is involved... it sounds premature and not like they are serious about it. Plus the fact alot have thumbed up this comment maybe because of that word only... are noone sensible anymore?

  • @FinalHype Sorry, i forgot 6 foot waterlilies were perfectly normal. Nothing odd about them.
