In response to the video's commentators, not only did the crowd enjoy that game, but so did Fed and Youhzny as they looked at each other at the end and smiled!
Two professionals appreciating their knowledge of the game, and the skill and tactics used in that play. Great stuff!
@MaratSafinVideos Agreed. Youzhny is a fantastic all-court, all surface player (and a former Top Ten) who never quite reached the heights his exceptional talents could take him. And I'm a Fed fan!!!
Oh my... I wonder how much of that was really to keep the ball low to avoid being attacked or just to show off. Anyway, Roger is amazing. And Youzhny has an incredible backhand.
@AguxOne In my opinion, slices are truly beautiful. But, of course, this is a matter of taste. One has to realize that not every player is in the game to win at all costs. Some of them are also for the fun, cause they simply love to step on a tennis court and hit the ball gracefully.
@renatoaz they don't do slice shots just for looks. its more difficult to hit a backspinning ball hard because your reversing the direction of the ball
why doesnt roger use the slice backhand more often. he rarely makes an error on it. he is still one of the few players on tour that will use it, i dont want this magnificent shot to die out of the game.
@idontsignin hell yeah man his backhandslice is awesome!! as i see it he changed his backhand from more slice into hard shots(well sometimes but i think his current gameplay with his agressive backhand works very well against nadal(as we saw at the atp tour finals) but if he's not playing well thats not enough to beat nadal. so what i think he should start using more slice against djoko beacause hes right handed and he cannot attack a backhand slice from federer as a left-handed rafa can do this
tony (cock)roche smiling on this fagderer point....

This was by far the best tournament Roger ever played. Didn't lose a set. God-like tennis, absolutely beautiful to watch.

federer's slices are the best
brahim121985brahim 4 months ago
I remember reading Federer and Youzhny practiced against each other a lot, so I'm guessing this was kind of inspired from their practice battles.

federer's slice is so much smoother :thumbs up if you agree:)

Thanks for uploading this. I saw this match live, and I'll never forget this point. I'm so glad I can see it again!

Is it just me or did he went for a flat-shot instead of continuing the slice battle to get the point?
foreverttw 7 months ago
@foreverttw
That was DEFINITELY a topspin backhand Roger pulled off to hit the angle and keep it in court.
