Like others have posted, some of the better Sheehan-esque qualities without the worse parts such as Billy's far-too-compressed tone that doesn't allow any dynamics into his playing. Also a bit dated with the overly-chorused (and I *love* me some chorus!) bass tone, but the Kahler Bass Whammied harmonics action @ 2:30 absolutely makes up for any tonal issues! And the second chordal harmonic & tapped piece is beautiful (and *is* the stuff chorus is made for :-)
i thought the story from i believe bassplayer article u said while sitting in traffic you would work out figures tapping on your sterring wheel and chics didnt get it ,!!!!! nice picking sweeps by the way kep up the kool figures and goo on ya from alb.ny.
I just ordered a Stingray from Basscentral...Beaver was the one who actually answered the phone and he took my order. I thought that was pretty cool, very awesome bass player and a nice person.
Wow, this is actually crazy... I'm not easily impressed when it comes to bass and especially slap bass but Beaver Felton makes it look more easy than many people I've seen
I first saw Beaver play in a little club called "GLEN´S QUARTER DECK LOUNGE".He had just re-surfaced out of seclusion from tha accident and it was his first time back out! Pretty emotional night!Glad to see he continued despite the obstacle.I can´t say that I would have been able to do the same!Great stuff! The harmonic work is scary-good!!
I feel fortunate to have played in a band with him, though he rarely had the chance to express his true talent. He enjoys playing all styles of music and can play simple if the song calls for it but can shred when needed.....sweet!!!!!!!!
Beaver is just a great guy and an amazing talent. I would to have him lay down some bass tracks for our original project! He is an inspiration and a true joy to listen to.
Im just gonna say it. But for him to be able to do all that stuff on the bass then his action would need to super low. Am I right in saying that? I need a fucking bass where I can get the action down to where his is, he can do all that stuff because A.The strings are a light gauge or B.His action is SUPER low. Which is it?
It's true, he does use very light gauge strings which give that very bright sound and no doubt help in achieving his super fast fretwork, but that doesn't change the fact that he's obviously AMAZING! and an inspiration to us all. Go Beaver, you ROCK!
I met Beaver around '84 in a bar at Orange Park, FL. He sat in with the band and blew everyone away! What greatness! Glad to see he's still playing. I remember how impressed I was with his playing and how gracious he was. He is a great role model for musicians! Long live Beaver Fulton!
haha nice, i saw him live tonight kickin ass, he runs bass central not to far from where i live with dave larue and some other dudes, real chill and cool
I remember the first time I've run into Beaver back in like 1977 while taking guitar lessons at Schroders Music Store, smackin' the hell out of a Rickenbacker Bass doing some wicked Stanley Clarke moves and to this day haven't run into another Bass player from the Savannah area that can touch him... Hey Beave, ya boy Chico hollering Big Ups to ya...
Incredible!
