Actually they are speaking Yiddish, which is 70 to 80% German, with some Russian, Polish, and a little Hebrew. Yiddish was the common language for the Jews of most of Europe, except for Spain. In the old days, Jews felt that Hebrew was a holy language and should only be used for prayer. My parents and grandparents spoke this and that's why it's so funny.
