Rotation was moving across the road, not at them. they were not in the middle of anything...merely "near" the rotation. the winds they were being buffted by are inflow winds, and lastly there was only a funnel...no tornado. there's probably a reason the video was moved off the storm and all u saw was the ground and the inside of the car, so that them being "in something" could be played up. the video of the storm passing in front of them was good when the camera was on it...amazing rotation.

@stfanboy Very strong inflow winds. Good thing the van was blocking the wind from hitting the camcorder, or all you would get to hear is wind rumble on the microphone instead of getting to hear that awesome howling sound it is making. I got to hear that same sound as the Wakita tornado I filmed was approaching me. It is an amazing sound to hear. The telephone & electric wires along with some trees and the wheat grass really have a lot to do with that sound as the wind whips through them.

This video has some of the best audio depicting the sound of a tornado. Most of the tornado videos sound like someone's breathing on the microphone, lol.  I've been in several tornadoes and they all made this really freaky howl like we hear for a moment in this video. Great stuff.

July 1987 at Mayerthorpe, Alberta. (close to Edmonton). My home was under beautiful blue skys. 1/2 mile to the south, there were literally 15 to 20 tornados forming simultaneously, in an area of about 50 square miles, randomly bobbing up and down from the biggest, blackest cloud I have ever seen. very unpredictable danger. No one was hurt (just some trees in the forests), but when the storm hit Edmonton, of course it went for a trailer park...
