Yeah that clear patch his done with comb number 4 attached to the cliper, i clip myself and more i do the better i get .

you should shave it on a shorter length to stop it growing out fast. it will also make the shape more dramatic.

You should go shorter on the sides and back, basically take both sides and back to the same length as your shortest part and leave the top long. It does look cute right now though.
