  • watch how fast his right arm moves at 1:04

    !!!

  • Well hole e fuck

  • Monster.

  • I used to be able to play drums like that.

THen I took an arrow to the knee

  • Such accuracy...

  • Oh shit, and Pushit of course!!

  • As a Drummer, I could say this 'flagship' business, goes to:

    Of course 'Ticks and Leeches,'

    'Reflection (Actuelly very confusing)'

'Live Triad solo's (if that counts)'

And many will disagree, but if you learn the solo, and get into the groove of it all, 'Right in Two'

But I do enjoy Wings of Marie, but it's fairly straight forward for Danny......in standards of Tool XD

  • Ugh..Can..not..blink!

  • no no no no, es demasiado bueno, debe tener efectos secundarias tocar tan bien, no puede componer asi!!! ES UN MOUNSTRO!! Ole ole ole oleee Danny!!! Danny!!! que hdp!

  • Mike Portnoy dislike this video lol

  • I can not, for one second, think of a better role model for the drums than danny carey

  • How to make an ass out of yourself, make fun of someone whos good at something...

I might be a nobody, i'll give you that. But it doesn't take a nobody to realize this is the best drummer of all time, and this is my favorite song to hear his work. And if you don't realize that yourself, then that makes you less than a nobody. Sucks to be you...

  • Danny Carey's face should be on the front of currency.

  • @kmurder77 baHAHAHAHAHAHAha!!!1

  • What i love about Tool, is that they're the 'thinking persons band.'' Danny is the reason I drum, and it's because he puts so much thought and creativity into what he plays. He doesn't simply mash his double bass pedal until it catches on fire. I'd like to see those douchebags write something like ticks and leeches. It's ridiculous how good this man is. Complete seperation of all his limbs.... I want to make love to him.

  • @JordanSwift21 danny careys hardest song to learn is by far rosetta stoned. that shit is so complicated it fucks with your head

  • @JordanSwift21 Well...I DO have to agree with almost all of what you said. My beef is with you picking "Ticks & Leeches" as his flagship (and the homo reference). Maybe "Pushit" or "Wings for Marie". We could do this dance till...........But, as i was saying, well said. Cheers!

  • @TheHeretic77 HAHA, my "beef" is that how the hell is "Wings for Marie" Danny's "flagship" song? Drum wise, Ticks and Leeches is better by about 1000 times.

  • INHUMAN

  • Go Back To Nam Hater!

  • Its so annoying watching those fucking faggot mike portnoy fans, when we all know he cant play doubles LOL and also mike is just all about speed and its so stale, he has shit groove and he is nothign compared to danny, and i have even come to this......danny beats neil peart......danny carey should just post a few vids of this on tv and then we shall have less arguements on the best drummers :) but, i know tool hate alot of publicity so thats very unlikely to happen unfortunately :L

  • @iWentToNam I'll just say it's pretty annoying watching these fucking faggot Danny Carey fans too.

  • @ryder187mac lol i didnt come on a mike portnoy vid and say it, you came on a dc vid and said it so just piss off to your travis barker and joey jordison fuckhead.

  • @iWentToNam oh look, anyone disagreeing with your opinion on drummers is automatically a JJ and Barker fan? Wow, such a refreshing argument.

  • mike portnoy watched this video 23,000 times to try and learn what danny is doing.

  • @haanbhyee he would try to learn how feel the music first and that speed and theory can be broken

  • @lachof in the end he clicked dislike and left :-p

  • @haanbhyee Travis barker watched this video 14,000 times and he just gave up

  • The coolest drumming I've ever seen.

  • i could watch this man play all day. every day. and i would be satisfied with life. no food. no drink. just danny carey. i could live on that.

  • Que animalada lo que toca éste muchacho

  • Suggested video: Fallout Boy's "American Sweethearts"... wat.

  • That fill at 3:01 is divine.

  • Danny... you amaze me. Your girlfriend is one lucky woman to have that rhythm and delicious perfection to play with. Gorgeous arms.... Danny the giant. <3

  • Danny carey is one of the best drummers out there and the same with the rest of the band, too bad there are a bunch of douches at my school that like to bother me by saying tool sucks and shit like that and they never even listen to them and they even say rap is better oh well society is screwed up.

  • @ToolDrummer10000 Fuck them. You're ultimately better off without them most likely anyway. Keep rockin and I'll do the same \w/

  • who is the one douche that disliked?

  • WTF....

  • he had to come out HEAD first!

  • As the universe burns itself out from heat death Danny Carey will be playing us out.

  • This has no dislikes and it should stay that way, In my view pure talents deserves 101 tumnbs up and 0 thumbss down :D

  • Honestly, danny might not be my top favorite drummer (very close though) I dont think I know of a drummer i enjoy watching more than him.

Im a drummer myself and playing the instrument, its easy to appreciate good percussion

  • @phinster70 He is a huge part of why I want to see Tool all the time, both times I've seen them, I watched Danny for about 75% of the time.

  • What makes Danny such a unique artist is he complex compilations, anyone can play straight and fast with practice but not everyone can make grooves that redefine drumming and that is what Danny does, you can hear how his jazz influence helps construct complex compilations, how he uses dynamic textures and etc. People don't understand the complexity of Tool that is why they enjoy simple straight music like APC instead because its easier. Tool fans are a certain bread who is willing to commit.

  • Man this is overwhelmingly amazing and emotional, such a great song and performance

  • danny carey is a fuckin' beast!

  • one of the best drumming parts ever.

  • I wish I could just post on every one of these Danny Carrey videos, how mediocre of a player he is. I am just laughing at all of these posts because it sounds like a bunch of guitarists who are total Tool fans and think they know what a good drummer is. Just because you think Tool was molded from God's first jizz, doesn't mean you can spam all these great drummers' pages with "WHAT ABOUT DANNY CARREY? WHY ISNT HE ON THE BEST DRUMMER LIST" ...I'LL TELL YOU, BECAUST DANNY CARREY IS NOT GREAT!!!!!!

  • @klearlykahmerican sure thing. Go back to slipknot, kid.

  • @klearlykahmerican danny carey is your daddy!

  • @klearlykahmerican Not really, Danny and Gavin Harrison stand out as two of the best drummers of the genre.

  • @klearlykahmerican You really have no clue of what you're saying do you? Danny Carey has been one of the top 5 world's best drummers ever for at least 4 years now and I bet you can't even name the others. I'll tell you what, why don't you erase your completely ignorant comment, start actually learning not only about drums but about music, then you might actually have a little bit of idea of how great this drummer is. Otherwise I suggest you get back to listening your pop albums and shut up

  • @Escox there is a top 5 world's best drummer list? wow. who is arrogant enough to say they know who the best drummers in the WORLD are?! All I am saying is that I do not think Danny Carrey does that hard, creative, or just downright cool shit. Don't assume I listen to pop either just because I don't like Danny Carrey lmao. I like Tool, yet I don't freak out over them. I also listen to alot of Meshuggah, Karnivool, and Sevendust. P.S. You don't learn music, you feel it. I don't feel Danny's drums

  • @klearlykahmerican Huh, interesting, first you bitch about him not being on the list and then you say there is no such thing as the list. And just so you know, you don't feel his drums because you know shit about what music makes you feel, I assumed you liked pop music because you don't have a clue of what you're saying. Tool makes me freak out, makes us freak out because we DO feel it. Oh you poor dumbass, I feel so sorry for morons such as yourself

  • @Escox Why would I bitch about him NOT being on "the list"? I do not like the way he plays, simple. To say I am "missing out" on how music makes me feel simply because I don't like the way one DRUMMER plays is rediculous, and I think you know that. Personally, I think you all are missing out on music, when you waste your time listening to this easy, unoriginal drumplaying, IN MY OPINION! Look up Tomas Haake just for example, and tell me how I am the one missing out...dont take pity on me LMAO!!!

  • @klearlykahmerican easy unoriginal drumming? if thats your opinion, you sir are severely mentally disabled.

  • @klearlykahmerican Very nice example of amazing skills. Tomas Haake makes me jizz, maybe just as much as Danny, but Tool has been my favorite for many years. Meshuggah is definitely on the top of the list for me as well, so much skill throughout.

  • @xReinhartx Yea Haake is like the metal version of Danny. That guy is a beast too. You just don't notice his dynamics on the records because everything is so perfect... but man when you watch him live, you can see he's truly in his element.

  • @klearlykahmerican meshuggah toured with tool lol tomas haake would actually come out on the song direct after this one at every show to play with them... and danny routinely shit on him with sound. your right though everyone does have there own opinion. yours unfortunately is of the commercial type.

  • @Escox And by the way, I like Tool alot. I get all kinds of feelings from them, just like other bands. Personally, I like Keenan's A Perfect Circle more, but again my opinion, which, last time I checked, can't be denied. But I just feel that getting a feeling from the DRUMMING on a song like Lateralusor Parabola is almost shallow. I mean even their disgustingly popular hit Vicarious has better drumming than that song but everyone is freaking out over that one video of him hitting a gong ONCE! HA

  • does anyone know if Danny, Justin, Or Adam wear some kind of protection for their ears? cuz i know they use moniters instead of In-Ear-Moniters but i dont any muffling or anything in his ears lol

  • I've been looking for videos like these for so long. I was really getting sick of noobs (relatively speaking) trying to play like this beast. THIS IS A GOLD MINE!!!!

  • These are some of the best videos on YT of Carey drumming up close...but why are they split into so many different parts?

    Either way, great uploads, thanks.

  • how the f@#@# did they do that... *sigh* everytime i justs get better

  • Tool really is tapped into somthing in this Universe that most ppl. cant understand, the sounds that they put out are like no other, Well done ~ Maynard, Danny, Adam, Justin!

  • uber pwnage.

  • 3:02-3:04

  • Lmao, he isnt a monster, he is "THE BEAST", we must refer to him as such because we are not worthy XD

  • I wonder did it hurt for his mom to give birth to such a monster

  • @jackcepticeye i dont know but his father once said flat out "my son is the best drummer in the world" and hes right.

  • @jackcepticeye danny carrey wasnt born, he double-pedaled his way out of the womb.

  • DIOOOOOO

  • Thanks MsTimPaul for putting these vids up on youtube. I've been watching them religiously since he put them up on his website, finally glad I can embed them other places and share the genius of Danny Carey's drumming! Subscribed.

  • For me, Reflection is the one song at least on laterus, if not on all tool albums, with the best drum part. ;-)

  • his movements are fluid, effortless, just how a drummer is supposed to move.i like when drummers play technical shit and look bored, like Steve Gadd or Chris Adler.

  • @sickdrums35 right on. some ppl don't understand how amazing danny is. but he is fully inside his rhythm when playing. he isn't just doing technical shit b/c he can. he is playing as you put it "fluid, effortless" and when you learn to play his beats, you feel this amazing sorta water rhythm about them, especially reflection. it's like an octopuss doing the break dance wave i put it. all the limbs just dancing with each other in harmony. it is actually physically pleasurable to play.

  • @themadtapper Definitely agree, very few friends that I have understand how amazing not just Danny is, but how amazing Tool is. The way that Danny just lets the music breathe and it truly comes alive through his playing. He lets it speak for itself, and for me it does just that, great song to lose yourself in and just let everything else fade away. Everything that these four musicians create is amazing and easily some of the greatest material I have ever heard. Can't wait for the next album.

  • @xReinhartx It surely requires ears that can hear

  • @oldboy777 So true, I guess a lot of people just don't have proper hearing.

  • at 52 secs he fucks up but covers it up rather quickly, even the most professional mess up, still dope though

  • actually that was intended--its a single accent offbeat triplet....in the beginning of triad when he exits the rudimentary intro and starts a riding solo, he messes up a little and recovers like a pro...in one of the fan filmed live hooker with a penis-right before the climactic outro, he drops a stick and plays a two handed part with one hand while he reaches for another one--the guy is just unstoppable

  • So After months of listening to ansolutely nothing but Satriani and Tool, I finally noticed how ridiculous the bass is. Fuckkk

  • this guy is a fucking monster

  • This is the best drum track of the decade.

  • lol i was drooling for a sec there

  • @ShroomSamich I was drooling for almost 4 minutes there

  • 2:51 IS SO FILTHY

  • danny carey is the best...

  • why what's the song about?

  • That's for them to know, and for you to find out on your own.

  • roughly....the epiphany of the reflection that life is, and that letting go of the ego is needed for a spiritual advancement... though no one will ever nail it's meaning perfectly

  • @killerproctologist

Maynard has said many times that their goal is for the music to make you think. It will mean something different to everyone, and that is what they want. Sometimes the emotions invoked by the sound of the music brings me to tears, just because it sounds so beautiful.

  • Best Drummer EVER!!!

  • I always tear up at the point when Adam plays closes out the song. I'm not sure why.

  • Yeah... beautiful song... i teared up at the concert when they played this.. very touching.

  • @imationlh because its fucking incredibly profound probably.

  • Best 3:40 of my life. I can watch this video 100 times and be happy. Thanks for the upload man

  • one of the most complex patterns ever.

  • Pauroso!!!

  • i came.

  • that literally just blew my mind.

  • thanks mstim
