One of the finest corporate ads ive seen and brings a tear to my eye every time i see it. It is such a shame, our envied rail network,it is such a shame. :(
Hello the music was composed and performed for this advert by Vangelis, the composer of Blade Runner and Chariots of fire. It has never been released. You owe me two pounds :)
I've wanted to see a better copy of this for some time. I was in the UK watching Christmas TV by chance when this was launched. I also recently discovered that, while the British Film Institute has a copy, their copy has no soundtrack. This is valuable and I'm interested in hearing from anyone knowing where I can obtain a better copy.
I think this must be one of the best corporate ads ever filmed. Not only is it beautifully filmed but it also very well illustrated the scope of BR's operations. It is now a real look into a lost world, both when we had a national integrated railway and British owned heavy industry. A lovely bit of nostalgia too for the days when there were 'proper' locos on the railways. :-)
My word you arte right, look out for 1.39.Anyway I still think this is a very good vid, shame most other TV adverts are not up to this standard, well done for posting !!!
Bring back British Rail and loco hauled expresses on the WCML!! :(

Sad they couldn't show any sign of the lovely era of steam.
Ah well, still a brilliant advertisment. Will always be my favorite.
