  • Follow up June 2011, the Phoenix fizzled, but it influenced other auto makers to produce electric cars. In the next 2-3 years we see about 50 new fully electric models coming to market.

Comments on pricing. See our NEWS section, Electric Cars.com People think $50ish pricing is too much... but they don't realize a $20k car will cost $50-70k to drive over 10 years. And, walk any BMW, GM, Lexus, etc car lot and you'll see plenty of $50k gas cars that will cost $70-100k to drive over 10 years...

  • Price??

  • Greedy in the commerce field will kill the electric car Make In USA again and again.

Don't worry! I am very confident that my first hybrid would be a Made In China.

  • i want this sooooo bad. my truck is killing gas like ted bundy kills ppl.

  • Its a station wagon with half its roof taken off, and called a 'Truck'...

  • nice !!!! I want one !!!

  • Wheres the Electric car for the working-middle class man?

the car that is affordable for the blue collar factory worker?

  • okay either the dude is big or the truck is small??? which is it???

  • @amnon760

Trust me the truck is big enough. its a bit smaller than the f150 and the dodge ram. its about the size of a toyota hilux but a bit wider and lower. plus the truck is korean. aka Ssang Yong.

  • so who is selling them ? and how much are they ? its a very nice truck

  • That's not a truck. It's a mini van with a bed.

  • why you guys pick the ugliest Chinese truck to fabricated this electric vehicle?

  • @trompomix

its a korean car. the build quality and reliability is enough to rival GM. but the design is ugly though. Ssang yong doesnt commercialize in US but they do here in Chile. Rather the diesel engine than a electric for these trucks.

  • too bad it's hideous

  • just a thoght. iv herd of home made electric picups with a 200 mile range. why isnt the range longer?.

  • @stingrayfff

Those home kits usually use DC motors with Lead acid battery. Basically the worst setup for electric vehicle. Very heavy and inefficient batteries with a motor that lacks power and features. Its only bonus is, its cheaper.

  • The Tesla got to much media attention. What this company needs to do is get the word out.

  • hello , not good enough as my car

  • Phoenix filed for Bankruptcy back in April...

  • And, what´s the price?

  • phoenixmotorcars . com

  • If you type in Phoenix SUV/SUT into google they have their own site. They claim they are leasing fleet vehicles and plan on selling to consumers starting this year. They also say on their site they plan on rolling out a battery in late 2009 that is capable of 250+ miles per charge (with the same 10 min charge to 95%)

  • Cool vehicle, but they shouldn't even advertise or mention the 10 minute charge to consumers as it takes like a 3 phase or something industrial electric supply...

  • This is the perfect car for the average middle- income American. Better deal than the Tesla Roadster.

  • yep hell yeah. You know theres about half a dozen new electric car companies out there, and this one actually has it right for the time being.

  • @DRSmetal How can you say that when it comes with all that garbage of pw ps pl key less entry a/c. All that should be an option and not force us to pay 20% more because no one has given us the resources to design a electric vehicle our selves.

  • yeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!

  • It looks pretty fishy when you have to pay to see the website.

  • wow it's TIME!!!!gov. will try 2 screw the consumer a little longer.....but it's time!!!!!how many pockets do you have to fill???gov red tape is ALWAYS!!!!the biggest obstical.....

  • Wow i want one. This SUT is what i want in an all electric truck. i would like to see if there is an option for a longer range and the cost of the up grade. It would help if you need tow. Price is high but not impossible for the trucks first year to the public with 130+ range. I would think If mass produced the price would go down.

  • 3.71 miles per kwh. So if your electricity rate is $0.16 per kwh, you can drive 10,000 miles per year for under $450.

  • $10 for a membership to the website?! ROFL. As wonderful as it would be to have an electric vehicle, this just screams SCAM to me.

Look for the ZAP-X and Tesla Roadster.

  • Wow, I really want one but I won't pay 10 bucks to see a silly website. What a stupid marketing mistake, total buzz kill. Probably doesn't even exist, just a quick scam and a way to steal credit card numbers.

  • Wow, what a jump in technology in such a short time. It's electric but tows like a V8 and charges in 10 minutes. I wonder where the big automakers are on this one. This could be just what I'm looking for. Who is Phoenix ?

  • thats a truck not an suv.

  • Mass production of electric vehicles could make us a world leader again that manufactures something that is good for our environment and our economy. Tax Credits for manufactures within the United States would also have the added benefit of decreasing the trade deficit and increasing tax revenues and creating a stronger economy. An added benefit of electric vehicle production is more jobs, improving air quality, and decreasing our dependence on foreign oil.

  • well thats a wery sad but the truth yaenks have not done any thing sens the early 70 ´s now they hav the chans to pick upp the real fight to stay the topp off the line in the car industries cud also seave your econome not a gay to early:-)

  • Our country has had a proud reputation of having innovative ideas and of leading in technology. Mass production of electric vehicles would free up oil for transportation of commodities, aviation fuel for the airline industry, and free up oil supplies for a strong national defense.

  • how much?

  • $54,000

  • actually $48000

  • The SUT is $48,000. The SUV is $54,000

  • the sad thing is they are still too much... WAY too much.

  • Not really 54 grand for an luxuary SUV is not bad. This is not just some plain SUV that's electric. It has heated seat and mirrors, power everything. And it's pretty powerfull, matches up to a v8.

  • ya know that is true,, is this thing really going to come out? and how hard do you think it will be to get one. i Would love to own it. Id rather pay for a SUT instead of an SUT plus make oil companies richer

  • There going to start selling a limited about towards the end of this year.

  • Wonderful!! I TRULY want one!!
