hey i got a tl my self and i wanna make the same box like in the vid.. do you got measurements for it? i wanna make it exactly the same. if so can you give them to me?
That JL Audio HD900/5...is that the best amp for the Hertz High Energy?? I cant decide which amp to get for my Hertz High Energy HSK 165. I want awesome SQ but not something that will destroy my budget...and i know that HD900/5 is expensive.....is there a nicer amp that provides the same SQ but a lesser price?? BTW I already have a sub amp so I could go with a 4ch amp....but can also replace it and go with a 5ch amp...
just wondering, between the the box and the top hole for where the factory subwoofer was located at. is there a gap in between both box and the hole from the inside thecar? or do you have a channel hose os soemthing connecting both together to pass the port to the inside of the car?
I have the same vehicle and I will be having the same gear installed except I will be using the XL comps and a 12w6v2. I have a few questions... Did you guys use anything like a cleansweep or 3Sixty.2 etc. to integrate with the factory radio? I have a 3Sixty.2 I was gonna use but was told it wasn't necessary. What's your opinion? and how was the sound in the vehicle once it was done? Love the install... Thx
@mattw298 nope. you want to port the face of the woofer into the car. not the back of the woofer. the woofer is designed to produce the "information" from the front. so forcing the pressure up into the cab is the best way to go, provided you're not restricting airflow .
@mattw298 technically the acura box is a "port though" not a bandpass. the front chamber isn't "tunned" its designed to direct the bass into the cab. a bandpass has a tunned front chamber. thats why the port is so large on the acura box. plus there a multiple variations of bandpass boxes.
@soundmancaraudio um thats a 4th order bandpass. theres a sealed chamber and a ported chamber which = 4th order. if it was to ported chambers itd be a 6th order. an how do you get "the front chamber isn't tuned" it has a port fireing into the cabin the port has a tuneing no matter what. so do you know what hz its tuned to? also what amp did you install to run the componets? i hope you didn't get reall ynice comps an use the crappy headunit to power em.
hey man nice work!! im rebuilding a sub box that i've had laying around my basement for some time and i removed the old ports to install new onces, any idea on where i could buy new ones?? thanks
Nice video Doug, I bought the JL 900/5 amp by watching a couple of your videos. Right now I got the avic z110bt with the amp and some Alpine components speakers they are the spx 17pro, I was trying to buy the kind of speakers your guys mention but didn't found a nice store with them in stock. What do you think about the alpine spx 17 pro? and which way should I go with the sub should I get 2 W3 or just 1 like you guys did with the audio A3?
hey i have a mercedes clk AMG and my factory system was 8k from factory so i guess im scared to touch it, BUT if i just wanted to add a sub you think its possible by keeping the same navi head unit ? thx
as if i had an aftermarket t HU like the eclipse avn 5495 ( rms 50w X4).. and how would i tune everything, would i just have to get an aftermarket equalizer! THE BOTTOM LINE IS: IS IT WORTH IT, AND CAN I MAKE IT SOUND JUST AS GOOD!..
Thanks for all of the feed back.... hahha sorry about writing these long things, i really cant find anything on this topic!! besides you guys r soo funny!!!
@SaLiNeE94 I always keep the factory head units when i do systems in TL's. You can make em sounds great. You don't have to use an EQ, but you can.. Look into the JL Audio Clean Sweep. To hook the amps up to the factory stereo just tap the wires in the passenger kick panel like we show in the video, you can run those straight to the amps, or to the Cleansweep. so to answer your question Keep the factory NAV.
@soundmancaraudio thanks for getting back to me so quickly! this helps me alot, but also my main question is also, like does it matter how many watts the stock headunit has? and will it get to be just as loud and clear as if i were to get an aftermarket navi.. and then you said "You don't have to use an EQ, but you can" from your experience do you think i should get one ( lol this might be stupid but im gonna be competeing against other kids, so i want to have a insanneee system!)
so what should i get to tune my speakers, so it sounds just as good ( if not better ) then people that have aftermarket HU's? btw where are you located?
Hey you guys! i was just wondering, I'm getting an Acura TL type s..... and im really into after market systems, and i cant really find anything on this topic for this model! my question is: with the Stock H..U ( i cant get an after market cause they don't come without a navi, so it would just look stupid if i tried to do something like that!) is it worth hooking up an aftermarket system (all new speakers, amps, sub, capacitor, etc) like would it sound good? will it get just as loud
Hey man u guys are hilarious and kno ur shit, i gotta question. I got a 98 plymouth breeze and am seriously thnkn about getting that pioneer avh4100 exactly what would I have 2 do to get that thing in there and have a clean set up
