cheers 2 all u good hunters..... first let me say that when we go moose hunting we always shoot grouse and we try not to shoot them on the fly ....and were real hunters that not many people i know can match me on the wing i shoot 95 to 98 on the trap and bealeave me i can prove it .....if knows anything hunting its more sportman to shoot em on the ground cause you can retreave em ...ps i,m sure the kid was moose hunting ..... good video kid .. and for the wannabes kiss my ass...........

i live in alaska and let me tell you that this is pretty much how we hunt them. you find them eating small rocks and gravel, shoot them, and eat them. its alot better than being on a snowmachine and just slaughtering them. the snowmachiners pretty much wiped them out were i moose hunt

holy crap, i cant believe some of these comments. I hunt grouse every chance I get once the season starts, I have yet to ever even have an oppourtunity to shoot one on the fly. These arn't pheasants that live in a field, they live in the thickest bush you can find because they spend the majority of their life on the ground. I challenge anyone to shoot grouse on the fly in that kind of habitat. You wouldnt even have room to swing your gun.. Nice to see a family hunting together, good vid.

this is how all of B.C. hunts grouse and not only that usually when you are shooting grouse from the road it is because you are going hunting for something bigger as in deer or moose and good luck bringing a dog with you doing that. it is just a bonus when you get a grouse or 2 for dinner. oh and good eye for the second grouse. I also shoot with a .22 not a shot gun so to all of you americans out there that think its a "challenge" with a shot gun you need to think before you speak

410 gauge with # 4, 3 or 2 size shot goes good for partridge, especially a .22 with these 2 guns you can always hit the head, everyone prefers a 22, because ive been using a 22 since i was kid hunting partridge best gun i ever had along with the 410 pump action

Alright,about "ground pounding" or "ground batting" grouse. I'm from northern Ontario, and have been hunting grouse with my family since I was old enough to sit on an ATV. I shoot grouse on the ground because it's next to impossible to wing shoot grouse in northern Ontario. You're lucky to make the bird take flight first of all, and it's not like we're hunting wide open hardwood stands. We're in very very thick bush where you couldn't see a bird in fight 20 feet away. most of the time.

In Ontario, it's illegal to hunt from a vehicle, and illegal to hunt on a public road.

im well aware of this, thats why i was not in the vehicle when i shot and yes i is illegal to hunt from a public road but that road is an inactive logging road with moose camps all up and down it , plenty of moose are shot on or from that road every season

@dzastins you might want to check the laws buddy.it is illegal do discharge from a vehicle but how do you know he shot from his vehicle? its depends on the county but if is on a non mantained road like he has indicated and theres no by-law in that county he did nothing wrong.

Patruick94 is dead on right. I have hunted grouse almost everyday in the fall for years and have yet to swat one from a car. If my dad had seen me do that he would have shoved my shotgun up my rear end. Neat you're training you're kids to give 'em a sporting chance. dude me too. I have shot all of my grouse with .22

that way I can shoot it in the head and dont hit the meat at all.

i agree with "justlooking34" you should wait for the bird to fly...especially with a shotgun...with a bow in my opinion it is fine to shoot em when there on the ground.. but seriously give it a chance...i practice with 20 gauge and i could hit them in the air no problem...wear orange next time..and don't shoot em on the road...go in the woods and actually try.
