i have a different technique to make the whistle... i plug in the big muff, then i plug in the ds-1, then when i get to the chorus i step on the ds-1 (which is at maximum dist, tone and about halfway with the level) and when i stop playing it feedbacks and whistles :D
well yeah thats the story but he still re-creates the whistle live on his "i love my mom" guitar and that one doesnt seem broken to me cause he uses it for other songs. i think it may be a mix of harmonics and feedback but you cant really cut your amp up to 10 when you have neighbors to worry about
iono. when they do it live, he presses on the strings or something to get the feedback noise. or at least thats what i saw on some of the videos on youtube. i dunno. i do what i can to try to get the right sound. lol :)
that was great the solo was a bit off but come on its billy even he cant do it like he used to. did you do this by ear ive been learning this song but i cant get the whistle sound like on the record and i refuse to continue untill i do. ive been playing for about 2 years too or maybe 3 idk but yeah good song, good cover
thanks! i learned it partly from tabs and partly from ear. i dunno how to get the whistle like on the album. but i use a harmonic on the 4th fret of the B string, and it sounds pretty close.
The whistle happened only cause Billy's guitar was broken. Every time he let go of the strings it yelped. So yeah..not much you can do about it unless you break your guitar. Nice job.
