  • i agree with #1. nice list

  • Does anyone else think Alex lifeson is way underrated???

  • i think that slash is way over rated

  • WHERE IS ERIC JOHNSON AND OZZY FOR GOD'S SAKE?!?!?!?!

  • @hoopcrazy19 Ozzy???? He didnt play guitar

  • @akenville yea sorry i know i was just thinkin about him while i was writing it just kinda spilled out

  • your opinion is not really good bucket head shoudve ben in 1st or 2nd an where in fuck is alex lifeson hes fucking awsome alex is number 1 in my opinion but this aint my opinion. i dont hate slash hes also really great but he shoudve ben in last

  • Where's Yngwie Malmsteen??

And one thing... why did you put an Ozzy Osbourne song, and put Zakk Wylde in 9th. I mean why didn't you put a song from Led Zeppelin, seeing that Jimmy Page is in 1st place?? but nice top. You forgot about Kirk Hammet, kerry King , Marty Friedman, Yngwie Malmsteen and Dave Mustaine....

  • Comment removed

  • Blackmore?

  • where marty friedman?

  • Peter Green, Claptop, Frusciante, Omar Rodriguez Lopez, Frank Zappa, Mustaine, Perry, Gilmour..

  • ok so where the fuck is santana?

  • This is hilarious. Joe Satriani is simply the greatest guitarist ever....ever

    A true guitar God.

  • 1. Hendrix, 2. SRV, 3. Page, 4. Rhodes, 5. Eddie, 6. Clapton, 7. Zappa

  • I 100% agree with you Jimmy Page is definately the best guitarist of all time. He can mimick anyone but has a style all his own. He is charsmatic and a joy to watch, love him!!!

  • Page is sloppy. He constantly misses notes. Clapton never misses a note and would put him to shame.

  • @MICS2FBODIES Clapton is no where near as good of a musician as Page.

Page wrote way better songs and was much more influential.

Page was more creative than clapton in the studio and on stage.

Page was ALOT more entertaining on stage and could improvise much better than Clapton.

Page had balls on stage and tackled all sorts of music and missing notes is what live is.

Page is one of the major reasons why people still buy les pauls.

Please watch led zeppelin at royal albert hall and MSG 1973.

  • @MICS2FBODIES lol but guys like angus young and page dont cover up the guitar with effects. seriously if you play guitar well(which i doubt) learn the best clapton solos..and then play them the same way without covering it up with any effects whatsoever and tell me how it sounds lol. now go learn a zeppelin or acdc solo i bet you can play clapton solos but none by angus or page..just a hunch because theyre faster and harder now play them with some effect..still great..huh weird..

  • 1: Randy Rhoads. 2: Stevie Ray Vaughan. 3: Jimi Hendrix. 4: Eric Clapton. 5: Jimmy Page. As a guitarist I believe these guys' work is the most innovative, talented, most difficult, intricate pieces of guitar work ever written. Feeling>shred.

  • 1 angus young. 2 jimi handrix. 3 van halen. 4 slash. 5 page

  • wheres allen collins??????

  • nunca o Slash é melhor que o Randy Rhoads

  • notice it says IN MY OPINION

  • henderix is #1

  • the best are in this order 1. saul hudson(slash) 2.randy rhoads 3.angus young 4.kirk hammet 5.jimi henderix 6.jimmy page 7.tony lommi 8.vivian campbell 9.joe perry 10.zakk wylde my earlier comment with herman li was a joke
  • rhoads is number 2

  • There are so many musical genres, and to include jazz or blues artists in the mix of rock and roll will be reason for great debate. Perhaps Top Ten Blues Guitarists? Top Ten Jazz Guitarists? It's a tough call...BTW, wasn' Jann Akkerman the Dutch guitarist from Focus? Where are the European or Progressive guitarists? Top 10 is too small a list.

  • Brian may would bury all of u here and all ur useless picks here. Go to sleep now novice.

  • I send my vote to introduce Gary Moore among the first ten!

  • I love hard rock and blues. But you need to broaden your horizons. There are much better guitarists out there in jazz, classical and folk. Only a few rock guys like Hendrix and Clapton truly belong on this list. I love Jimmy Page. But his playing is way too sloppy to be considered the best.

  • Any top 10 list of this nature should ALWAYS include..........Steve Morse...period.

  • Great video but Stevie, Eddie and Jimmy page are very good but not better than hendrix.

  • I agree with Page, Hendrix and deffinately Randy Rhoades, But my fave is Buckethead, he has written well over 100 awesome tunes if yer being picky. I cant say that about any other guitarist.

  • GARY MOORE, VINNIE VINCENT AND JEFF BECK TO THAT LIST OF GREATS BELOW.......

  • GARY MOORE, VINNIE VINCENT AND JEFF BECH TO THAT LIST OF GREATS BELOW

  • what the hell is up with this slash fetish everyones got?

  • Where's Dimebag Darrel, Ace Frehley, Tony Iommi, Chuck Berry, and Tom Morello

  • Rhoads is wayyy better than slash

  • top 5 guitarests 1:slash 2:herman li 3:van halen 4:randy rhodes 5:barry stock

  • @chaoskings35 bhahhahahah herman li??? u fucking serious?

  • that's nice... but where are joe satriani, john petrucci, paul gilbert, yngwie malmsteen, carlos santana, michael angelo batio, herman li, steve vai, kirk hammet, duane allman, eric johnson, and bb king?

  • where,s dimebag darrel :O

guitar player that you don,t like

    are good to ;)

  • WTF is this top 10 mainstream guitarist looks like this was made by a 10 year old

  • BS! WHERES SYNYSTER GATES?? <3

  • Some of these guys were great in their time but there have been plenty of players since then and now that can blow them away. Like you said in your description this list is your opinion.

  • eddie vh isnt really top 3 material, angus young is good but isnt top 10 imo, and slash sucks

  • @mastersam23 i was gonna say the same damn thing...

  • @mastersam23 slash is great have you hearth sweet child o mine

    or November rain ??

he,s never the best but he,s not bad

( i,m sorry for my bad English )

  • Tom Delonge is the best

  • Ma per favore...

  • satriani?vai? they are the best

  • I think you list ones you like listening to the most, as there is no basis for touting these as the best! Speed doesn't make someone the best!

The ten modern day "Rock/Blues" guitarists I most enjoy listening to, in no particular order:-

Steve Morse, Ritchie Blackmore, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, David Gilmour, Robin Trower, Mark Knopfler, Chris Rea, Paul Kossoff, Joe Walsh.

Of course you will disagree - how can you compare different techniques/ styles/feel/interpretation? Just enjoy.

  • 1. hendrixs,2. clapton,3.eddie,4.stevie ray,5.angus,6.jimmy page

  • switch jimi hendrix and jimmy paige

  • NO!I respect your personal emotion who each of them gives to you but....i don't agree this ranking.

  • omg Clapton on 8 place? yuou're idiota

  • @Skcharynd i agree

  • omg you put eddie van halen and stevie ray vaughn before jimi hendrix. horrible list. nuff said

  • why is clapton only 8? hendrix only 4? who is rob chapman?

  • @everybody who doubts page just search for Led Zepellin heartbreaker and take a look at the solo, that will change your minds

  • @Akaineth stairway would be a better choice, but agreed

  • oh my god, where is slash

  • i find this list fairly accurate though u nonrockohollics who say omg jimmi hendrx and dave mustain, listin to some good music morons,...btw i think b.b.king would have been nice on this list nuff said

  • @cody951000

    hey are u stupid?

jimi's music is great, and he is the greatest electric guitarist of all time, no doubt about it whatsoever.

  • Synyster Gates

  • Rofl! Buckethead is at number 10. Fail list.

  • with the exception of Rhoads and Page...this should be called the list of the worlds most overrated guitarists

  • zakk wylde is fantastic, at ruining songs that he didnt make

  • fuckin a right man jimmy is the best and you got the order as i would choose amazing

  • ru retarted

  • I love how neither Paul Gilbert, Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, or Petrucci are on this list, but of course BUCKET HEAD, JIMI HENDRIX, AND JIMMY PAIGE ARE.

  • Decent list.

But Stevie ray vaughn isn't that good.

  • van halen is first, then slash

  • @lvaxb24 no Hendrix is first, and then Page and the other legends. Van Halen and Slash, with all do respect for their vituosity and passion, are overrated and don't deserve the place in top ten guitarists "ever". For me, the list goes this way: 1. Jimi Hendrix 2. Jimmy Page 2. Eric Clapton 2. David Gilmour 2. Chuck Berry 2. Tony Iommmi 2. Robert Johnson 2. Steve Ray Vaughan 2.B. B. King ...... Jimi Hendrix is a guitar god, and after him there are about 15 guitarists who can't be compared.

  • @wolfram6ful Slash and EVH are more skilled than every guitarist named on the list. And yes, even Hendrix. Hendrix was the most important guitarist ever but not the most skilled.

  • @tallon26 Shot in the Dark is not an album it's a song off Ultimate Sin. C'mon now, Diary of a Madman was Rhoads not Lee.... Lee should be on this list though, the most underrated metal guitar god ever.

  • i like how Jimmy Page is #1 haha i love page but hes not the best but if its your opinion then its coooooll

  • To pick Zakk, Angus and Slash are the marks of someone who knows fuck all about guitarists...

  • Comment removed

  • Just by using Crazy Train says how much you know of guitar players.....

  • RS mag rates Angus Young as #96

    thumbs up if you disagree!

  • jimi hendrix 1st

  • interesting putting ray vaughn above hendrix

  • has anyone ever heard of warren haynes? or derek trucks? how bout a guy named "dimebag"??? chet atkins? les (the guy your guitar SHOULD be named after) paul? c'mon!!! jimmy herring??just a few...

  • 1. Hendrix

    2. Page

    3. E Van Halen

    4. SRV

    5. Brian May

    6. Clapton

    7. Blackmore

    8. Beck

    9. Santana

Tie for 10. DiMeola, Rhoads, Malmsteen and a handful of players in Nashville you've never heard of...

  • Check out Brian Money from Escape the Fate listen to "This War Is Ours (The Guillotine II)" very good guitarist

  • slash? what a jokee

  • dude where's andy summers?

  • Jimmy page is the best guitarist ever

  • 1#Buckethead

    2#Buckethead

    3#Buckethead

    4#Buckethead

    5#Buckethead

    6#Buckethead

    7#Buckethead

    8#Buckethead

    9#Buckethead

    10#Buckethead

  • WUT THE FUK, Hendrix is god he is ad always will be #1!!!

  • 1. Jimi Hendrix 2. Chuck Berry 3. Eric Clapton 4. Stevie Ray Vaughn 5. BB. King 6. Jimmy Page 7. Jerry Garcia 8. Carlos Santana 9. Eddie Van Halen 10. Duane Allman 11. Keith Richards 12. Kirk Hammett 13. Brian May 14. Jeff Beck 15. Ritchie Blackmore
  • @medgold10

kirk hammett over brian may, ritchie blackmore and jeff beck, and no slash

    I laughed ^^

  • Kirk Hammett anyone?

  • buckethead and slash are ok but , their not the best of the best ..... ps WHERES RANDY ROADS?!

  • Thats a good list. Everyone has their own opinion about guitarists. My top 10 would of been 1. Jimi Hendrix 2. Stevie Ray Vaughn 3. B.B. King 4. Jimmy Page 5. Eric Clapton 6. Eddie Van Halen 7. Carlos Santana 8. Steve Howe 9. Angus Young 10. Randy Rhodes
  • Good list, like em all 5. EVH 4. Jimi 3. Jimmy 2. Dimebag 1. Slowhand... his concert in montreal was just mind blowing

  • Your opinion. Guitar playing can be easy or very complex. You have picked the popularity contest over actual skill.

  • My top 5!

    5. Angus young

    4. Jimmy Page

    3. Eric Clapton

    2. Stevie Ray Vaughn

    1. The one and only..........Jimi Hendrix!!!!!!!

  • buckethead sucks

  • 1. Slash

    2. Angus Young

    3. Van Halen

    4. Jimmy Page

    5. Eric Clapton

  • The best is Jimmy Page... He's incredible

  • srv based his riffs off king's

  • @GuitarCraziness...angus young may be a simple player but lets see you write some of the best rock songs with only "3 chords" ...think about that

  • @bonmarriott1234 A truly great riff takes more than 3 chords. That's why ACDC's music is boring; it relies on too simple a riff. The two best riff makers are Ritchie Blackmore and Jimmy Page

  • @medgold10

    Amen to that!

  • what s with yngwie , or michael angelo batio or jason becker

  • angus young is a very simple player. all his songs are like three chords and have very simple solos. sorry man he sucks.

  • @GuitarCraziness Yur right, just knows how to work a crowd...even though he never speaks lol

  • Replace Clapton with either David Gilmour or Lindsey Buckingham an dyou have a decent list there.

  • what about mark knopfler, carlos santana and joe satriani

  • i think ur missing some 1... well he isnt right now but he was... #1 should be Jason Becker man

  • thats okay but i think that Zakk or Slash is the best...

  • @FrederikBozzyNyboe It's definatly Slash

  • alot of great guitarists, but not in the right order, slash above randy ????????????. i dont think so.

  • fail.......you must be under 30 years old because you fail to realise that jimi influenced all of those guitarists yes even clapton

  • where is alexi laiho from children of bodom

  • @miikkazz551

In the garbage where he belongs.

  • Fail - where is Dave Mustaine , Karl Logan , Bruce Kulick , Vinnie Vincent , Yngwie Malmsteen , Chris Broderick , Chris Poland , Jeff Loomis , Michael Angelo Batio , Chuck Shuldner , or Tony Iommi?

  • not saying he belongs on the list....but what about Jake E Lee......he took the place of rhoads for ozzy and wrote 3 albums..all hit #1 on the charts....shot in the dark, bark at the moon, diary of a madman, ultimate sin, all those were Jake....

  • no kirk hammet or tom morrello?????

  • hendrix is the best

  • clapton should be higher jeff beck should be on there and people think that modern artist blow them away in terms of skill are crazy they wouldnt be here if it wasnt for the pioneers

  • WHERE is BRIAN MAY?!?!?!?!?!

  • You are a douchebag. No way in hell anyone is better than Hendrix. In fact, all 3 people you put above him said so themselves.

I only watched the whole video because of the song.

  • And Maik Weichert from Heaven Shall Burn wins!

  • loko jimmy hendrix va en el # 1

  • 3-Slash

    2- Eddie Van Halen

    1-Angus Young

  • BucketHead?????????? loooooool.....never

  • baised!!! totally biased!!

metal is trash..newbies can be pro at metal in less than an year...

blues, jazz, soul, hard rock requires real talent...in my opinion

    1. Robert Johnson

    2. Hendrix / BB King

    3. Clapton / Page

    4. Keith Richard

    5. Jeff Beck

  • @vivek17s2004 Ahahahahaha, August Burns Red, Opeth, Metallica, Megadeth, Pantera, Children of Bodom, Shadows Fall....all metal bands that have guitarists that blow away the ones you've listed in terms of raw talent.

Clapton, Page, and King did nothing but the same repetitive pentatonic trash over and over again. Yeah, its great, I love it, and they're good artists, but today's modern artists blow them away in terms of skill.

  • @natel083 if you observe the metal guys closely, they just play around with 2 or at the most 3 strings at time...and so naturally sound fast...and if not for led zepp or cream , bands like metallica, maiden etc wouldnt have existed!

  • lets see your ass be pro in a year then tough shit

  • Sure they are all good...

But Shawn Lane is GOD with a Guitar!!!

  • lol rob chapman is a teacher at my college

  • ritchie blackmore gents!!!

  • Not even close. Forget top 10...Top 4 are:

    4 - Eddie Van Halen

    3- Jimmy Page

    2- Eric Clapton

    1 - Jimi Hendrix

  • where is Kirk

  • Synyster Gates.

    RIP Rev.

    Greatest drummer ever.

  • in my opinion :

    1 slash

    2 angus young

    3 jimmy page

  • hey dude somehow i share your opinion-i luv Zakk Wylde

but my fav is Buckethead and Van Halen

btw if you put Slash its strange you didnt put Tom Morello

and what the hell is angus doing there?he just SOX

  • Eric Clapton = Eric Fagton

I reckon Paul Gilbert is the best(:

  • gilbert and steve vai are the best, not my favorites in anyway, but the best

  • hendrix and after ray vaughan

  • WTF is slash doing there? WTF why isn't Buckethead in top 5? THIS LIST IS BULL SHIT

  • Haha. You're an idiot. Zack Wylde is a fag. Anyone can do pinch harmonics over and over. And to everyone else in here, Hendrix isn't the best. He was EXTREMELY sloppy. Eddie Hazel was doing everything he was doing at the same time. Also, no Hendrix song can come close to being as good as Maggot Brain, which Hazel recorded with Funkadelic.Oh, and Slash is the most overrated guitarist ever.

  • hey hey dude-CALM DOWN FFS

guitarists exist so we can choose which we like and which-dont

we cant blame editor if he made such a list

besides i just love Zack Wylde

But my fav is Buckethead and Van Halen

  • jimi hendrix is the best

  • my opinion is 1.slash 2.van halen 3.steve vai

  • Fuck everything that is on video.

Jimi Hendrix is the best of all no doubt, not the Jimmy Page.

  • well your opinion sucks angus shud b #1

  • satriani is by far #1

  • I believe it's impossible to compare guitarists in such a way... Every one's special in his own way. Angus Young, Santana, C.C. DeVille, Van Halen, Hedrix, Slash, Jabs etc

  • mattias ia

    john petrucci

    steve vai

    dimebag

  • i would have put dave mustain and krik hammet into the top 10 instead of angus young and slash

  • @TheMalthe121 HAHAHA no one would say that. Not compare for example, the Dave Mustaine with Slash, Slash is better without doubt. Not a legend compared with Angus Young with Dave Mustaine, Angus is the best no doubt.

Here you want to me you are a fanatic for the Metallica and want to join ironically the two best guitarists in Metallica.

Fuck everything that you said that comment, your words are no use just say shit!

  • no Yngwei, No herman Li...Eddie Van Halen over Jimi Hendrix?.....Zakk Wylde not Number 1?.....eeeeeek and everyone forgets about Jason Becker!

  • While I believe Herman shouldn't be anywhere NEAR this list, I've gotta say I agree with you on Becker. HOW CAN YOU FORGET BECKER?

  • Herman Li is in a popular band taking away from his legendary status..kinda like Van Halen...but Herman Li has taken the guitar playing to a different plain and can outplay Van Halen easily. There are many greats to choose from and Herman Li is just one I chose because I do admire the direction he takes guitar playing. And yes I am glad we are in agreement on Jason Becker.

  • have you ever been 2 dragon force live. there not even close to as good as they r in the studio.

  • actually yes I have in Phoenix, AZ And I admit they are a studio band. Herman Li is still great for what he has accomplished. I have seen alot of concerts as I still go often starting with Greatful Dead on New Years Eve at the closing of Winterland Concert Hall in SF..I was 10

  • I don't get Buckethead or Zakk Wyled, but to each his own. Check out Rik Emmett, whether it be his solo work or the music of Triumph, the man is a true musician and a class act. Definitely one of the best ...imho

  • hendrix is number one on my list

  • this list is total shit.

  • randy rhodes wrote the guitar for crazy train!! whata riff...

  • slash rocks for me hes the best guitarist
