this game, to me, was the "start of the demise" in that it showed a kink in the armor that was nebraska's football program. i don't recall the 97 season too much (UT last losing season) and i was at the game in 99. but that big 12 champ game was the ONLY time nebraska has beaten texas in 8 tries since the formation of the conference. the wheels finally fell off when nebraska was booted out of the top 25 in the early '00s for the 1st time in years.

3rd national title in four years...topping off a 60-3 run over five years. only florida, this decade, has come even close to matching that. usc and texas fans only dream of a run like that.
