at the end of the day, animals adapt, just like humans! we grow up doing different things and have different ways of living. these horses have clearly been trained in a different way, and they are fit and healthy. Just because it's different doesn't make it wrong. I'm sick of not it alls judging others, when it can be argued that all horsemanship is cruel!
I don't see anything about this that is particularly cruel, it's merely a trick these horses are trained to do. Walking on hind legs for a few seconds is a lot less harmful than, say, horse racing. My only complain is the bits look rather harsh, but riders seem quite gentle.
to they people who think this is cruel and unnatural- These horses are very selectively bred to have the ability to walk on their hind legs, and the riders almost all have slack reins or no more than normal contact
This is degrading to these wonderful animals - being made to walk on 2 legs is cruel Cool Horse - I have trained, bred and owned horses for over 40 years. So I am not an idiot. And yes, they are balancing some of their weight on the reins in some shots. The back and hind quarter muscles of these horses are not designed for prolonged "walking" Whatever, this is another example of degrading horses just to please the public. Abhorent. Just like bullfighting which still goes on in Spain.
