The Black Keys- Little Black Submarines (El Camino, #4
I am seeking a Led Zep fan who lived these decades to please go to the video of Black Keys above and listen to how amateur this whole song is, and give the kids a dose odf reality by telling them where its at or where it isnt. Imagine the youth after all these years thinking that their version of blues stands up-when we have genius like this
Ok so i can see that that's a beatlesvsledzep arguing on... The Beatles were the most badass band when it comes to the studio version, I mean, those guys could play it all, but Led Zep were the kings of the live versions. Both innovated a lot and made a lot of great stuff, peace out everyone!
This dvd is the shit!! hahah but on a side note if your feed up with today’s music and would like to hear a new band check out our channel, it would really mean a lot, thanks in advance if you do
Im a great led zeppelin fan, and was at this concert, but I think this game of comparisons with the beatles is misplaced, as the beatles werent a heavy rock virtuosity type band but were excellent songwriters who made a lasting impact on music
Hey, who is that playing the drums? And dont say John Bonham because that couldn't possibly be a human being, that's either a robot or something cause there's no way someone can be that fucking perfect.
When I upgraded to an HDTV, the first thing I played on it was this very song and performance - I couldn't think of anything better to be playing than this! Led Zep are GODS of rock music!!!!
This guitar solo is why jimmy page is the best that ever was, the perfect guitar solo for this song right off the top of his head. How many guitarists can capture that magic in such a split second moment?
This is going to sound silly but what must it be like to be Robert Plant?? You can't get any more talented and you can't do more in life ... become a rock legend with Zeppelin, make 9 solo albums each completely different from the next, possess arguably the greatest voice in rock. I look at my own life and how mundane it is and I look at RP and find I am speechless and utterly in awe at what he is and what he has done.
Yea, dude i think you're off on the date ... It was on January 9th, 1970, b/c i have the dvd and January 9th is Page's birthday. Plus it say's it on Wiki too.
but hey!!!!!I know you may get alot of mislead guidance with music nowadays.
but let me direct you to my channel. you like floyd? youll like us. love hendrix? youll love us. Give my channel a chance. trust me youve got nothing to loose and a new great psychedelic band to gain. Promise.
@gilesstocks yes I know what music is about !! i know it`s not a competition... i just said my opinion,,, i love bonzo and i think john p jones is a great bass player , but I think the work of moonie/entwistle was better for me....
Jimmy....stand up straight...get the hair out of your eyes and turn that music down....I know you're a good boy because you wear the sweater vest I knitted for you.
To be clearly honest, LZ wasn`t original at all. 1968 Page toured with Yardbirds in States, visited Detroit (like Deep Purple, like The Who, like Hendrix`s roadie Lemmy) and saw the true originator -- MC5. MC5s power, sound, attitude, stage antics etc. inspired dozens of British bands.
There were several other role models for LZ. From The Who they got almost complete outlook (check out a The Who`s TV show in France from 1968, especially the pretty familiar granddad vest :P).
the beatles couldnt improvise for shit led zeppelin was wayyyyyyyyy more talented when it came to preforming live, hands down. Beatles concerts were like 45 minutes long, zeppelin had songs last longer than that. plus they could all play theyre instruments just about 1000x better than the beatles. so long live ZEPP
the Four Genies @ Zeppelin are the Best Fucking Rock musicians EVER , their concerts where even better than the records , they play sometimes 3 or more hours of POWER ROCK , to me they are the GREATEST EVER .
ok to relative it a little bit : John Lennon and Mc.Cartney Where The Best Songwritter Duo EVER , and Me , as an old Beatles Fan that i am say : that they deserve honour too , they had GREAT records (white album , revolver abbey road etc ) beatles are great too !
@Bonhamliveson80 Obviously I have nothing against the Beatles, but what you said is true about pretty much every band. Led Zeppelin blew away every band that came before them.
@Bonhamliveson80 ya i totally agree cause the Beatles , theyre songs were you know verse chorus verse and then done...Led would just JAM ,,,to point where its not even the same song anoymore..they just kept jammin until they bring it home
@KISSUnion then why dont you upload it in better quality so we can all enjoy it instead of you sitting in front your computer and complaining....dick.
The absolute greatest ever-to this day as well. Please Robert ,get back with the boys and Jason Bonham for the final tour that the ENTIRE WORLD IS WAITING FOR. I get " the been there and done that thing" but do not cheat yourself and the fans all over the world for the one final opportunity to see the greatest rock band of all time. PLEASE WE ARE BEGGING. ROCK IS DEAD, BRING IT BACK TO LIFE!
I know this totally jams but I gotta say it...Jimmy stand up straight, get the hair out of your eyes and turn that music down. Your such a nice boy for wearing that sweater vest I knitted for you.
@BeyondNeptune yep...me too....ok , yesterday i saw a Roger Waters gig of The Wall 2011 tour....but that's different....i mean...it's Art not make up or things like Kiss.
I was a rock drummer in the 70's in Sydney, I studied Jazz & blues, amongst other styles and did lot's of gigs all over Sydney from 75 to 83. Rock was my favourite style. There is an aggression from the word go that Zeps had that a lot of rock bands lack. When they stood up to play it was in your face from the get go.
When they play it's like GET OUT OF MY ROAD I AM COMING THROUGH. I love aggressive syncopated rock. The Zeps specialty. They were the best at it.
Some crap hipster band won a grammy the other day. I made the mistake of watching one of their videos out of freak curiosity.
If Jimmy Page chewed a piece of gum at age 7 and spit it out in the gutter and it washed into the sewer and disintegrated into pure nothing over 100 years, that nothingness would have exactly 1296% more talent than every combined member of arcade whoever, their families and all of their ancestors.
@drumzRfun1 look, not that I'm in defense of hipster bands (i play in one, in dc, in real clubs, thus the reason why i do it) but arcade fire have some (SOME) fantastic material. and i learned drums to zeppelin albums, i honor bonzo in almost everything that i do. but be careful in trashing bands like arcade fire. there are many more, much faggier more trendier (worse) bands winning grammys. and its funny that you would mention their ancestors, given that win butler's grandad is Alvino Rey.
@drumzRfun1 alvino rey is, as they say, father of the pedal steel guitar. but i know this obviously because i have quite a few friends who llllove arcade fire. i got into them when their material was better and i was a teenager. but yeah. and this song does kill anything and everything that is made, to this day. this is true. again as they say, they don't make it like they used to. cheers-
Anyone who tries to deny Zeppelin's pure power and talent doesn't realize how utterly influential they were. The roots of most modern music, heavy or otherwise, can be found in their collection of songs.
@cjonesufc Especially I-III. Oh and Achilles' Last Stand? Fucking awesome! But yeah, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page were clearly the best to come out of the Yardbirds. Clapton was soft and spent his whole life trying to be like Jimi Hendrix.
let me correct the last sentence of my previous comment so i dont get complaints: "if they werent, they would just be another unbearable trash band like Slipknot, Disturbed, or As I Lay Dying." Linkin Park isnt non comedic Dethklok sounding shit. i dunno why i typed Linkin Park when i meant Disturbed
@ZOSOrulz1 Are you an idiot .. ? Why're you even making a flamebait topic, criticizing new-age bands on a LED ZEPPELIN song? Listen to the music and keep your thoughts about other peoples music to yourself, please; this is WHY Youtube channels are always fighting, people make such stupid comments like that, when there's 99% chance there's a fan of those bands here.
@ZOSOrulz1 Then that's cool, keep the down-talking bands in your mind please, I really don't want to see you and some of those bands fan's that like Zeppelin as well fighting over a god damn band. Let the fanboys argue on a different band and song.
why cant some band do this today? i mean all were getting with new mainstream metal is Dethklok sounding shit with 5 minute blastbeats, heavily distorted vocals, muted out bass, and ten random notes per second on guitar. why cant the assholes slow down and get creative for once instead of sounding retarded? and yes i kind of like Dethklok because they are comedy. if they werent, they would be just another unbearable trash band like Slipknot, Linkin Park, or As I Lay Dying.
@ZOSOrulz1 Yeah all the nubes are treating music like it is a race or some track and field event when it should be more like ballet with occasional bursts of poignant violence.
From a guitar player's point of view...how does Page NOT step on his cable and rip it out from his guitar? I'm still surprised that he doesn't threat that thing through his strap!
Am I right in thinking that this performance was the basis of the "studio" version released on 'Coda' in 1982? The vocals sound the same. I gather Jimmy Page overdubbed most of the guitars anew, including the 'sub-octivider', which presumably wasn't around in '69 when the track was allegedly recorded.
@mawsonics yea ur right, Coda was a collection of edited live performances and other unreleased material accumulated over the years. bonzo died before the album was released so they decided to split up but they still had one more album on their record labels contractto release so they just put together this collection.
Even though I play Black/Thrash Metal. Led Zeppelin Was the band I Listen to All My Life and Inspired me to be a Musician and Zeppelin would Be Forever Be my All time Favorite Band
@lasgarnwood Clapton was wise to disband Cream before Zeppelin got fully aloft. As for comparing the groups, Cream was jazzier. Bruce said that onstage Cream was a jazz band, "we just didn't tell Eric." Jonesy had a grounding in jazz, and LZ certainly improvised onstage, but exploratory music wasn't really their focus. Also, don't forget what a pioneer Page was in the production booth, getting that massive bottom on record, which Cream lacked.
@lasgarnwood oh back up there little guy. led zeppelin was heavily influenced by Cream. Cream laid down the rules and zeppelin followed. theyre both great bands one no better than the other. Cream was called a "supergroup" for a reason.
@mahavishnuxc I think Cream influenced Zep to a small extent - possibly more business-wise than musical, but Clapton, Page, Beck were all contemporaries. Page, Beck, Moon, and Entwistle were in talks of forming a band in '66...same time as Cream formed...So I think they were all headed in that direction anyway.
So musically? Probably not so much....Zeppelin's lineage is directly from Back/Page's Yardbirds...not Cream. Cream did show Page and Peter Grant that heavy blues sold numbers!!!
This song sort of shows they were forever moving on.
They recorded it in the studio, but didn't release it until they split.
No room for it in 1970,because they were writing incredible original music..But this,a "reject",is still (sadly) better than many bands whole career, just on performance alone.
Damn right. So much diversity in their catalog, but this track right here is why they earned the reputation of Loudest Band on the Planet. This is just raw energy in rock and roll form.
You love Beatles??? OK, check out a album titled "The Beatles" from 1968. And check out tracks "Why Don't We Do It in the Road?" , "Birthday" , "Yer Blues" , "Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey" , "Helter Skelter" , "Long, Long, Long", "Revolution 1" which sounds pretty much like Zeppelin years before Zeppelin.
i have 1400 sings in my 32gb itouch but i cannot stop listening to this fucking song. everytime i go on my computer to work on homework or film scripts, for some reason, i just have to look up this song on youtube. i have listened to it 30 times today and i just dont get tired of it. oh well, if god didnt want me to listen to this song, he wouldnt have made zeppelin rock so hard.
i love how it just came out of nowhere, good evening....... BOOM into the music and into one of the best nights in history, man they knew how to rock a concert

@ZOSOrulz1 Yeah all the nubes are treating music like it is a race or some track and field event when it should be more like ballet with occasional bursts of poignant violence.

Hah, here it is, man. Nothing to say. The only words that do it justice are these:
Led Zeppelin.

I wish I could be half as cool as Robert Plant.
Also, I wish I had his hair...

LOve the hand gesture by Plant at 0.24- 0.25

@legodarknight101 Only Robert Plant could look cool doing that. Unless you're Robert Anthony Plant, you would just look like a tool.

From a guitar player's point of view...how does Page NOT step on his cable and rip it out from his guitar? I'm still surprised that he doesn't threat that thing through his strap!
imemine5 1 year ago
Am I right in thinking that this performance was the basis of the "studio" version released on 'Coda' in 1982? The vocals sound the same. I gather Jimmy Page overdubbed most of the guitars anew, including the 'sub-octivider', which presumably wasn't around in '69 when the track was allegedly recorded.
mawsonics 1 year ago
@mawsonics yea ur right, Coda was a collection of edited live performances and other unreleased material accumulated over the years. bonzo died before the album was released so they decided to split up but they still had one more album on their record labels contractto release so they just put together this collection.

Fuck me - they were tight. How Jack Bruce could think Cream were anywhere close to this lot I don't know. Different level of energy altogether.
lasgarnwood 1 year ago
@lasgarnwood Jack Bruce is simply Jealous. Led Zeppelin is was will always be miles above the rest.Clapton who?
43bumpy 1 year ago
@lasgarnwood Clapton was wise to disband Cream before Zeppelin got fully aloft. As for comparing the groups, Cream was jazzier. Bruce said that onstage Cream was a jazz band, "we just didn't tell Eric." Jonesy had a grounding in jazz, and LZ certainly improvised onstage, but exploratory music wasn't really their focus. Also, don't forget what a pioneer Page was in the production booth, getting that massive bottom on record, which Cream lacked.
TheSanityInspector 1 year ago
@lasgarnwood oh back up there little guy. led zeppelin was heavily influenced by Cream. Cream laid down the rules and zeppelin followed. theyre both great bands one no better than the other. Cream was called a "supergroup" for a reason.
mahavishnuxc 1 year ago
@mahavishnuxc I think Cream influenced Zep to a small extent - possibly more business-wise than musical, but Clapton, Page, Beck were all contemporaries. Page, Beck, Moon, and Entwistle were in talks of forming a band in '66...same time as Cream formed...So I think they were all headed in that direction anyway.
So musically? Probably not so much....Zeppelin's lineage is directly from Back/Page's Yardbirds...not Cream. Cream did show Page and Peter Grant that heavy blues sold numbers!!!
liontone 1 year ago
This song sort of shows they were forever moving on.
They recorded it in the studio, but didn't release it until they split.
No room for it in 1970,because they were writing incredible original music..But this,a "reject",is still (sadly) better than many bands whole career, just on performance alone.
neohip 1 year ago
oly shit this is high quality for a live show in 1970. Plant's vocals are spot on

Damn right. So much diversity in their catalog, but this track right here is why they earned the reputation of Loudest Band on the Planet. This is just raw energy in rock and roll form.

Everybody talk about The Beatles (and I LOVE The Beatles) but you just can´t compare both in rock music.
Led Zeppelin Were (and ARE) The Rock KIngs.

You love Beatles??? OK, check out a album titled "The Beatles" from 1968. And check out tracks "Why Don't We Do It in the Road?" , "Birthday" , "Yer Blues" , "Everybody's Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey" , "Helter Skelter" , "Long, Long, Long", "Revolution 1" which sounds pretty much like Zeppelin years before Zeppelin.

mahavishnuxc 1 year ago 4
@mahavishnuxc but which God or Gods made Zeppo? My guess, since Jimmy Page was such a fan of Aleister Crowley, the Egyptians are responsible...
