  • Why do people like to put a racist label on classic cartoons like these. I see no act of racism in this cartoon, or any implied racism. I see maybe a stereotype which is common even in today's cartoons (Like Apu in The Simpsons). But just because a cartoon has a stereotype in it or a character parody that is not racism. I would suggest people research what racism is before apply the word to things like this.

  • Dick Tracy is da cop wid da most!

  • This show highlights the fallacies of the parole system. These criminals have been arrested multiple times. They should have received their third strike and subsequently, life in prison, for their misdemeanor crimes.

  • lol this show is so racist. Would never get shown nowadays.

  • @nitestryker7 why is it racist? did somebody say nigger?

  • @barnabus5335 The word "nigger" does not have to be said to infer racism. And I mean the show in general, not so much this episode, but the shows with Go-Go-Gomez or Ju Jitsu.

  • DO A WEB SEARCH ON:

    charles h. miranda OR:

    charlesthepoet2003

    THANKS.

  • yea see yea lets get em flattop (bbeyesvoice)

  • The Advertisement playing during this cartoon: Anti David prosser and Scott Walker commerical playing during a Dick Tracy Cartoon. Dick Tracy busted up the Mob union just like Scott Walker.

  • hey is it true that this cartoon was racist?

  • Believe it or not, Everett Sloane was Tracy's voice. There were a number of "dependable" voice actors, like Mel Blanc and Benny Rubin (as "Joe Jitsu"), and others who were "rotated" from story to story. Tracy was the "hook" on which UPA sold this series to local stations in 1961; what it actually focused on were Dick's "operatives", as he's never seen for more than a minute in these episodes.

  • All these years and no one has invented a wristwatch video phone yet.

  • @gloryboundkev Actually, it's been invented. It's just not common over here yet, but apparently they've been in Europe for a few years.

  • The dog can talk.....

  • @animalcrackers666 ......And, he has a terrible British accent too.

  • who is the other villain ......flattop and who???

  • @quiconico BB eyes

  • I prefer the comic strip.

  • Magic mushroom done the trick :] Best cartoon ever!

  • Do nothing.

    get creds.

  • Dick Tracey never shot a crook.

  • SIX TWO AND EVEN OVER AND OUT

  • GOD, these cartoons SUCK!!!! All Tracy does is sit on his ass!!!!

  • Yeah, I remember having that complaint when I was a kid. Why the heck is this a 'Dick Tracy' cartoon when all he does is come towards the very end to arrest them while letting some other people do the work for him.

The only really interesting episode is when Dick gets kidnapped and he actually has to do more than just blab over his watch-radio thingy, Of course it all entailed him trying to get rescued.

  • retroheroes you stupid ass and your spam commercials in the vids.

    bastard.

  • Archie's Dick Tracy is the best not this crap

  • @ssegabriel

The Archie Dick Tracy actually had him going up against villains himself didn't it?

and didn't it also have characters from the Gould strip like Sam, Tess, Junior and others?

  • Tracy actually sounds like Clark Gable. You think?

  • Hey didnt Dick Tracy just sit on his ass in the whole episode and just told people what to do?

  • I'll make sure to tell him to get busy next time.

  • @excaliber2010 Pretty much. But everyone knew him from the comic strips (where he was more active) and nobody (at least not me) had heard of Hemlock Holmes, Joe Jitsu, Go Go Gomez or Heap O'Calorie (the real stars here). Tracy was relegated to the role of a straight man in these cartoons.

  • @excaliber2010 You're fucking right excaliber2010 ! Why are those rejected Hanna-Barbera police patrol the real stars? Even if, I don't know, THE SHOW IS CALLED "DICK TRACY"? tsk, now I get why Dick Tracy hates "desk job" in the movie!

...Also, why didn't Dick Tracy wear yellow?! Not even the friggin HAT!

  • Hey, that's Mel Blanc voicing Flattop!

  • Yeah, basically imitating Peter Lorre! LOL

  • B.B. Eyes too.

  • @wilek209

Come to think of it, Mel Blanc voiced Flat Top with the same voice as some other wierd character in Bugs Bunny (the character I'm referring to tried to get Daffy Duck's wishbone in one cartoon).

  • I love how able sable has several bumps on his head from their feet at 2:12

  • A talking dog is ONE thing but a talking dog that sounds like Cary Grant?

    PLEASE!

These cartoons are good clean fun from a time when that was actually desirable and WORTH something.

    I love them.
