This is a gross oversimplification and I can surely say that history has taught me that I can rely more on others who identify as Eritreans that don't eat the same food as me to protect me from genocide! The reason they've won was through a simple method, and that was by recruiting 250,000 foot soldiers against some 15,000 Italian soldiers ( that figure seems unfair don't you think? ).
