  • supposedly this was the number one hit on the day iborn as well. 1994? hmmmm

  • Its sad when people see Buddy Holly they think he looks like a hipster. Bastards took his style...

  • I just found out that this is the # 1 hit on the day I w as born! Y birthday song!

  • PEOPLE PLEASE STOP PRAISING THESE ARTISTS, NO DOUBT THEY ARE GOOD AND I ENJOY THE MUSIC TOO BUT THEY ARE A PRODUCT OF THEIR ENVIRONMENT, IF BUDDY HOLLY WAS BORN IN THE 1990S HE WOULD HAVE NEVER SUNG THIS, WE ARE A PRODUCT OF OR ENVIRONMENT. PRAISE THE ENVIRONMENT AND CULTURE BACK THEN AND THE RTIST OFCOURSE BUT NOT HIM BY HIMSELF.

  • @shubroto81 What the hell..

  • @xxx7Spiros: You should take Norman Petty's name off the list of "writers" as he had a habit of putting his name on records to steal royalties! (He had no part in writing this song)

  • whos the king of rock? buddy holly? the beatles? the rolling stones? hendrix? chuck berry? led zeplinn? pink floyd? or any other old good band like them, i think its all of them!!!!1!!!!11!1

  • @ninjaguy1234511 Robert Johnson :) The grandfather, Chuck Berry the Father, Buddy Holly Little Richard Elvis and Jerry Lee Lewis are the Uncles, Beatles Stones Zeppelin Dylan Floyd Hendrix Joplin are the sons and daughter and anything after nirvana are the pesky neighbors that annoy us

  • @Memorex996 Elvis is the undisputed father of rock n' roll. He made his first song in 1953 two years before Chuck Berry even had a record label. Robert Johnson's music sold very poorly so nobody was influenced by him. If anybody give credit to Muddy Waters and a few other black blues performers of the 1940s. Elvis just took the brothers blues and turned it into rock n' roll for white people the rest is music history.

  • What's so beautiful about youtube is you can find anything like this video. A younger generation of musicians can reach all sorts of music much faster than they could have even 10 years ago. I've discovered so many types of music, songs, and artists I'm not sure i would have come across without the likes of youtube. I can take pride in my passion for blues and rock n roll and bluegrass that not of my peers could possibly understand. The music on the interent is even better than the porn!!

  • even though im here because of mafia 2, i will always appreciate the 50`s

  • Soooo Gooood For my Ears

  • Great song!!

  • Don' they call that Girl... RUN AROUND SUE...? ?

  • i like this song

  • His music endures..... we are so fortunate to have had him for a little bit of time. Thank you Buddy.

  • Also, Holly himself said that none of them could have got going without Elvis' starting the whole thing off.

  • Buddy Holly is the true King of Rock n Roll.

  • And you know whatever you read on the internet has to be true

  • Actually, I heard Buddy Holly is living at the center of the universe. He controls the world. Him and Hitler

  • I was reading what other famous people said about Buddy Holly, and Bob Dylan went to a Buddy Holly concert two days before the crash. Bob Dylan claimed that Buddy Holly looked him in the eye, because he sat in the front row. Year later, Bob Dylan won a grammy for best record. He told that story in his acceptance speech, and he said that "I could swear that Buddy was there with us this whole time recording this record."

  • A very underrated singer in this day and age, a hidden talent in the late 50's and was one the first white artists to incorporate rock n roll into the mainstream audience!.. Had talent, shame he died during his time.

  • He would have made there be no need for Elvis. Look at how much he accomplished as a teenager. Imagine if he would have been able to be around to this day.

  • @hogie400 Huh ? Elvis was around 4 years before Buddy Holly.

"None of us could have made it without Elvis." ....... Buddy Holly

  • @nigelbruce232 at last appreciation. elvis cleared the way for a lot of people. when i was a kid you couldn't listen to black music. devil's music. white elvis made it ok. by the way this song was the opening song for american bandstand when it went national.

  • @denisjl100 I love Buddy Holly......but unfortunately it seems like a certain percentage of uneducated fans want to downplay Elvis' contribution to rock and roll to make Buddy's contribution seem more....Elvis is the reason Buddy played rock and roll and anyone can confirm this with a google search......both of them were early pioneers of this music....but it seems a lot of Elvis haters have popped up in modern times....sad because in my view he is and was the greatest entertainer ever

  • @nigelbruce232 Yeah Elvis is great, but he's no match for Little Richard!

  • @thingthing94 Little Richard was great....no argument.....but Elvis as far as the entertaining part goes exceeds Little Richard......Little Richard wrote some great songs, but his popularity fizzled in the early 60's ....whereas Elvis was extremely famous until the day he died.....statistically, nobody even comes close to Elvis

  • @nigelbruce232 Don't pay attention to them. Any intelligent person knows that Elvis and Buddy were THEE rock and roll pioneers with lasting power. As far as Elvis being the greatest entertainer--I think you are right there with (close behind) Frank Sinatra at no. 2 and Michael J. at no. 3. Agree discerning folks???

  • @windstorm1000 Statistically there is no question that Elvis is number one.....but if you go on something outside of the statistics it becomes opinion.......but Sinatra and Jackson were also amazing

  • @windstorm1000 I hardly think so, mi rank will be 1- Muddy Waters 2- Elvis & Buddy Holly -3-Chuck berry

  • @nigelbruce232 i have nothing to add. you said it all.

  • I dont think he'd ever be as big as Elvis, but I do know he would end up bigger than the BEATLES

  • @AndrewJBoyer he wasnt and isn bigger than the Beatles...trust me

  • @atenam70 Well he wasnt, because he was performing at the apollo in 1957 whereas the beatles were still playing local birthday parties. Much respect to the beatles they were a very talented group, and they owned the 60's along with dylan, but had buddy holly survived the plane crash, the beatles would have had their work cut out for em. Trust ME.

  • @atenam70 We'll never know that.

  • Great memories, Great song. Rukus 2011 does a good cover.

  • if i ever need glasses im gonna get Buddy Holly glasses, the beginng of Nerd glasses!

  • He would have been the next Elvis Presley!! R.I.P Buddy!!

  • He could've taken elvis' place if he didn't die.

  • @MrTysMadness i agree i believe him and valens would have been the best of all time i actually think elvis is overrated i dont like none of his songs

  • @MrTysMadness although i like buddy better Elvis is Elvis and most people listen 2 Elvis in this generation buddy fans are not as frequent and he is still not a very known artist

  • @tacobeller1000 Yeah, Nevin. Buddy Holly is awesome. I didn't even know you knew about him.

  • whattay voice yaaaar!!!!!

  • This Song Inspired a lot us Merseybeat bands of the 60's a wonderful era.

  • wow the 50's were so innocent

  • happy birthday buddy!!!! :)

  • Happy 75 Buddy ! You'll never be forgotten !

  • when i go to heaven i want to meet up with buddy to see if he still plays and write great rock n roll songs as i know for a fact that their up there as when my dad was near to passing over his brother who died many years before visited him to let him know that its ok... true fact according to my late father.

  • Weezer basically copied him, like his style.

  • what an excellent song, and it was written in only 30 minutes....and has lasted 50 + years.

  • recorded feb 25th 1957? that was george harrison's 14th birthday, and the same year lennon and mccartney met.

  • @1982pencil Wow..Coincedences can be really scary!! ;-D

  • @1982pencil Well, The Beatles did say once that their name came from Buddy Holly And His Crickets.

  • @redbarron718 That's true, it did. Stu Sutcliffe, the original bassist for the group, came up with the idea.

  • @TheRaddRatt John Lennon "is one of the founding members of The Beatles and is one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed acts in the history of popular music. Along with fellow Beatle Paul McCartney, he formed one of the most successful songwriting partnerships of the 20th century." By the way...

    -Who is Stevie Ray Vaughn?

  • Another Texas icon, the south has provided the world with some of the greatest muisians the world has ever seen

  • @TexianPride Same with rappers! (excluding lil wayne from New Orleans i believe)

  • @Mikespyke Yes while Im not a rap fan I have to agree there are many tallented rappers from the south aswell.

    Its really somthing isnt it?

  • @TexianPride Elvis, Jim Morrison, Buddy, Johnny Cash, as well as many others who weren't able to make it today.

  • @freelilwayne666 Your right. I hope Justin Beibers next.

  • @freelilwayne666 No offense, but you left out Janis Joplin, Jimmi Hendrix, and John Lennon.

  • i would do anything to live in this time

  • @funshit1912

    me 2 :(

  • @funshit1912 fuck yer

  • @funshit1912 Still living it!. Back then there was no No Dolby stereo surround sound. No computerized enhancing voices or music, no 50 back up artists. What you saw was what you got. Most of these so called talents of today would never have made it. The young Justin Bieber would have been sent packing back to Canada.

  • @funshit1912 Gobbies??

  • Grew up in England and remember the cold in our so called music room in the winter listening to Buddy back in the 50's so many memories or am I getting old and sentimental about what is appearing to be the real music

  • @adar5708 LOL.....to me as an American...listening to the Beatles is what makes me sentimental. I didn't even know who the hell Chuck Berry was till I saw his name as the writer of The Beatles "Roll Over Beethoven". I was 10 years old when the beatles came to the USA. Honest to God it was as big as landing on the moon. We just lost our minds over them. Suddenly anything American was out.....musically speaking it was like the cave men discovering fire over here...it was that big

  • @inkey2 I agree 100%

  • Its pretty sad to look up 50s songs and see all of the comments saying R.I.P. Its a real shame.

  • Please activate the option for mobile phones, so that this great song is also viewable on android mobile phones and especially on android tablet PCs (Youtube: "My uploaded videos - Edit - Broadcasting and Sharing Options - Syndication – Yes, make this video available on mobile phones and TV … - Save Changes").

  • cant belive put this on and my 5 year lod is rocking round the house great music and will never die out

  • R.I.P WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU

  • Born 50 years too late oO.

  • I go to Buddy Holly's old high school and his music is still a huge influence in alot of things we do. Such a good musician.

  • @TheBallerButler I'm sure he's honored knowing that! "Oldies" have lived on for a reason...such a great period of American music!

  • gone too young, think of how much more great music he would have had time to make...

  • thumbs up for the 1st video ive seen with no dislikes and itll be a crime to dislike this

  • now thatrs real music or you :)

  • I was born long after he was already gone and I love his music. Proof that the great ones never die as long as their music LIVES.

  • Thanks for the gifts you left us Buddy Ritchie and JP. Rock and Roll !

  • I love this guy very much, on that time I was 14 year old and at the present time I'm 63 years old was still love him..from Thailand
