Não pratico Capoeira, nem jiu jitsu, a minha luta é em prol da sabedoria e do bem -estar com os seres, e acredito que é está a proposta de Mestre Cobra Mansa e outros!tive a oportunidade de conhecê-lo um homem magnifico e um defensor da EDUCAÇÃO. Sou Baiano nascido e criado em Salvador, mas sou ignorante no que se refere a Capoeira, mas acredito me muitos que a praticam não enxergam o benefício, dessa arte, dessa expressão, dessa manifestação tão bonita deixada por nossos ancestrais!!!

A capoeira, O jiu jistsu, o Mauy thai, entre os demais esportes de contato dependem da pessoa que os incorpora. Great video, we can learn a lot with it. I started with Angola few months ago and my Ginga is, as you say, robot-style. One of the more difficult things I found in it, is that new students have to re-discover the way of express ourselves through our body and with Ginga. Breaking the ice is not so easy depending on the person, like in my case.

So, thanks for this example!

@kram08980 saroba means that you have no grace, you do things without realizing why. It's hard 2 explain exactly. But it's worse than being called a newbie, its actually disgraceful. And it's a shame pretuinho call someone with little experience on capoeira like that. Shame for himself ofc :) Keep training, it's worth every last drop of sweat!

@Thamn0S hehe, after some months, one thing I'm starting to understand is that there are a lot of angoleiros that enjoy being better than others, they like to show you how much better than you they are... :D but no problem, i've also found a lot of them who teach you always they can. It's great.

And I've no problem with my level, everyone learn and understand capoeira as he can and want. My mestre says he's still learning... he will ever learning from others.

obviously you are not a very good observer, look closer and you will discover he is not completely extending the leg; in the other hand i tink that with the "regional" ginga that is teached today you can easily be taken down (all your weight is on the front, the contrary happens with cobra mansa ginga, that is a real capoeira ginga).

@saintxio did you expext a student to put a mestre in his place??? it doesn't matter that they are regional students... even an angoleiro ( not saying that angola is better than regional,nor the opposite) would be "in trouble"(positive meaning) with Cobra Mansa.

My point is we shouldn't pay that much attention to the style,but rather learn what we can from everyone ,both regional and angola instructors

ginga não se pode ensinar,acredito q pode se mostrar mas os bons e antigos capoeiras não tinham ginga robotizada como se ve hoje.Olhem mestre joao grande,mestre curió,mestre moraes e muitos outros.Todos os grandes tinham a ginga no corpo a malandragem de se movimentar e negacear dos golpes.Ginga é coisa q nasce com o tempo.

basics are the roots and if there aren't any the flower cannot grow. and the ginga becomes different when the basics are used in different patterns. am i right?

Yes you're right, but I don't think learning the Ginga the Regional way turns you into a robot. You just have to get the basics right and during the years of Capoeira you'll grow your own Ginga. Some Capoeiristas have a more "martial" Ginga, others tend to have a Ginga that looks more like a dance.

No Capoeirista should disrespect another one for their style. It doesn't matter if it's Angola or Regional. True Capoeira comes from the spirit within.

I agree with Hailel Sela. Basics are basics. True martial artists (regardless of which is learned) take the basics and through much, much, and much practice make those techniques their own.

@chalchihuitochtzin I've had classes with cobra mansa before, he doesn't teach you how to ginga, he teaches you to lose yourself and find your own ginga game, he's not creating robots, only trying to loosen them up. many people would try to ginga with a stiff body, this helped them to loosen up.

Algo do que estes homens deixaram foi absorvido pela capoeira não angola. Pode ter certeza. Muito do que sempre foi angola tornou-se regional. Agora os angoleiros descriminam muito por desconhecimento.
