If you like this album I would suggest The Dead Next Door by a band called Spitfire. It also came out in 1999 but was released about half a year before Calculating Infinity, oddly enough.
@stratocaster1986able Dimitri explained it like this: he idea behind calculating infinity is trying to figure out how long it will take a self destructive person to sabotage a relationship. You can't, because trying to figure something like that out, is like trying to Calculate Infinity.
Never listened to this genre before but it's interesting, I love hearing time signature changes in songs and this is totally like a new atmosphere for me will definitely look some more up.
@benoz11 not to be a music nazi, but your 13/8, can arguably be a 7/4 because of the start of the next measure on the snare, thus combining that whole section into a 7/4, also the beginning is not in 1/8. So it should be 3/4, 5/4, 7/4, 3/4, and so on, but realistically is in a base of 4. A key reminder is to not pay so much attention to the snare as much, he's accenting, key is to listen to his bass drum and his cymbal hand. Also it's too bad this drummer is with them no more.
I like this track just as much as the rest of the album, in a geeky way. It's more like a puzzle to see if you can keep up with the timing than anything else. (although once you've worked it out, it pretty much repeats itself over and over again)
@oldlampsfornew Yes, archaic. It means "old as fuck". Just because they're still used on today's amps doesn't change the fact that they're old as fuck.
yes but when one uses the term it typically holds a negative connotation implying that whatever you are referring to is outdated and useless compared to modern technology
@oldlampsfornew From a purely objective view, they've been irrelevant in guitar amplification for awhile. They're bulky, heavy, fragile, and they wear out. Things like Axe-FX and Native Instruments' Guitar Rig can do the job of most any amp or pedal ever created just as well as the original and then some at a fraction of the mass. Unfortunately, most people still insist that tubes have that "mojo" (dynamics) that you can't replicate, so there's still a demand for them.
@darmbon s=snare b=bass h=hat S=snare+hat B=bass+hat it basically goes like: S b h s Bb S b h s BbB s Bb S b h s Bb S bBb S bB s B S bB... (*fill*) like a ska base with hi hat on 2 and 3s i've taken your comment too seriously i think ahah anyway i watched your channel and i loved to see that you're into some cool music and maybe not sadly closed minded like most of the people i know! cheers!

Intro: (1/8 anacrusis), 6/8, 10/8, 13/8, 6/8, 10/8, 13/8, 6/8. Then
10/8 13/8 6/8 10/8 13/8.
Then there's that big rung out chord at 30 seconds.
