@2KARGARAGE Sorry for not getting back to you earlier. I have had problems posting comments on YouTube. It depends on whether you are in an east or west declination area. There are a couple blog posts at compass-howto that will help you determine this. If going from true (map) north to magnetic north in an E. declination area, you subtract. My personal mnemonic for this is "Each Day Tall Trees Make Shade" (East Declination True To Magnetic Subtract). Good luck
I try to use non-technical terms when possible, but there are a few words that are worth spending a few minutes to learn. These consist of about a half dozen parts of the compass and map terms which, once learned, can be used to apply to any type of navigation, and could come in very handy in a wilderness situation.
