If Canada's healthcare system is so great, why did almost 66 million Canadians flood to the USA as Health-tourists? The only reason we haven't annexed Canada yet is because we are keeping that country for it's oil, timber & labor reserves.

In Canada 90 - 95 % of significant injuries & insurance interests are deliberately misdiagnosed & not treated or compensated. They use stereotypical clinical code/commentary to classify & render injured workers & auto accident patient - claimants. This undermines the principles of universal healthcare.

Canada was a testing ground for this Medical New York Shell game.

We are treated as bad as or worse than livestock in our 'universal' healthcare'system, yet most of the public doesn't know it.

Anne Doig said she supports universal healthcare and we're looking to other countries with more efficient UHC systems than us. She mentioned France, UK and Netherlands. How was that in any way interpreted as looking to the US for reform? The US is the LAST place we'd look to for reform.

Capitalism works great in Canada though. Private cable companies had to remove Fox News from their lineup to avoid losing customers. Lets say we were not impressed with Fox News' protrayal of Canada.

Second - We are referring to Canadian citizens who come to the US due to denial of or length of time required for health care procedures.

First - Obviously I meant the burden of the bill is not pushed onto the patient directly, and is covered by government from which the funds are gathered through taxes.

Second - if a Canadian is waiting unreasonably too long, they can seek medical attention else where, & the bill is covered by the Government once approved.

She said at least 3 or 4 times that Canada is NOT looking to emulate the US, and that universal health care is a good thing. every part of this is BS I could never imagine choosing between getting better or draining my savings. Everyone in canada has the right to free medical attention most people are also on a drug plan so you tell me how the american system is in anyway better, if I don't like my doctor i can get as many different ones as possible . I have carpal tunnel and when I have my surgery i'll be off for up to 2 months, that means nothing to me either because the government also pays for my time of work.

Yes, in the US, you can get as many different doctors as possible. In Canada, you will most likely be placed on the lottery system to see a doctor. How long will you be in the US for your surgery?

In Canada, 8% of GDP goes to health vs 17% in U.S.! We spend 3% in administration and U.S. spends 33% and it goes to Insurance middlemen.

Not one Canadian since l969, has filed for Bankruptcy due to Medical bills!!!

Sorry, MaryJo. But no Canadian ever dies waiting. Elective surgeries only are on waiting list. It's more than fair. ALL Canadians get good care. We live longer than Americans and infant mortality better than U.S. Poor families never file for Bankruptcy for medicals since 1969! The 50s/60s were as scary as current situation in U.S. That's why we have Universal care. 86% of Canadians and 85% of our doctors agree and we're all grateful. Not pefect, but it sure works for Canadians!
