  • well, in my opinion "AENIGMA" is somo combination betwen "carrie" and phenomena, i supossed it rigth¿

  • Aenigma is nothing like Suspiria. You better watch before you comment.

  • @STRIK9BEATZ like i said i dont want to be dissing, i know the storyline & direction is completely different and at the time i havent see it yet. i just meant that not so much copying but like competing who could build on the genre, who can bring in a audience to me Aenigma is a way of saying "oh yeah, well check this out" like two good guitarists playing against each other with solo riffs, when basically they should just make an album together, thats how i see it.

  • @STRIK9BEATZ no you

  • watch entire edition with this specific video here on avatz..net change .. to .

  • i dont want to say it cause im a fan of Fulci and i aint dissing when i say this. but it looks like a knock off of susperia, just from a few scenes i saw. Aenigma-Susperia, Takes Place In A Dance School (of some type), Slugs Instead Of Maggots. but it looks like im not the only noticing these things, i'll look for it anyways

  • Absolutely! That's fine to say! ;-) Most the Italian Directors were ripping each other off in the 70's/80's much like a lot of Hollywood movies start trends and rip each other off. Argento opened the floodgates for lots of wannabe Directors. Fulci was his own Director but a lot of them at one stage were doing something similar. Even Argento himself with 'Phenomena' was doing another Suspiria film. You're right :-) I prefer Argento, then Fulci and then Mario and Lamberto Bava.

  • I bet they were competiting on who the best horror director was out there when they were directing. probably explains the knock offs, but as the directors themsevles their just have separate genres. Fulci is about the Gore and Argento is more Visionary and Music Driven.

  • Either way they both could be Demented sometimes in their movies. Not necessarily there horror but the subject matter, the type of weird macabre stuff they deal with, to sexual deviant behaviour to occult satanic madness. But thats what makes there movies stand out and memorable. Make you cringe and disturb you, catch you off guard. thats what i like. To me there both cool in there own way.

  • ...Being a Brit some of the best Fulci i saw originally was cut to pieces because of video nasties in UK. Thank God, i revisited them later to find his work was (much) better 2nd time round (uncut) and the way he intended! Both original Directors fought to bring something original to Horror, i can only aspire to bring respect indeed :-)

  • Thats Pretty Cool Though, You Got To See Some Of Those Video Nasties. I Mean I Know Now You Could Easily Rent & Own Them Now, But I Mean At A Time Where They Were Raiding Video Stores Destroying All Those Horror Video Tapes, Actually Owning Or Holding A Copy Of "Absurd" Was Illegal. It Just Makes You Want To See Them More, I Bet The Only Drawback Was How Much Stuff They Cut Out, Which Is Lame.

  • You are right! The best Italian Director Argento and Fulci were the most successful of the bunch the imitations died off before the end of the eighties. My Wife and I have always said Argento didn't care too much about story (or rather quite a few stories were similar to others he made) but artistically and visually he shot some stunning films along with some of the most powerful horror music ever put on celluloid...

  • @eytim

Let's face it, Fulci only had one film that was actually taken seriously and that was ZOMBI which although rode the coat tails of DOTD had some great ideas and scenes.

  • @eytim

Yeah true, but that's the way movies have gone since day 1...

Argento was influenced by Hitchcock stylings, yet some people forget that.

I love Argento, but there was always "someone before".

There is a difference between "being influenced by" and "copying" for sure, but yeah it's part and parcel man.

You know the saying: If it ain't broke, don't fix it?!

  • @ExtremeBogom I think that not so much copying but like competing who could build on the genre, who can bring in a audience to me Aenigma is a way of saying "oh yeah, well check this out" like two guitarists playing against each other with solo riffs, when basically they should just make an album together, thats how i see it.

  • @eytim

    Yeah well said!

  • @ExtremeBogom @eytim Indeed all well said. Of course even Directors were revisiting there own stuff - Phenomena/Creepers was another very similar Argento movie to Suspiria. With bugs and a girls school. Love that movie too.

  • actually the snail scene is aquite disturbing. it will make you cringe

  • I gotta see it! Good thing is about slugs and snails you only need a little bit of salt and that will kill them off!

  • I'm scared! I would have stained my undies if I were wearing some.

  • Haha! Lol.

  • This one looked intriguing enough to watch, if only I could get a dvd for around $3.

  • I'd look on Ebay i get some awesome good deals on there all kinds of unusual films like this. Check out my other rare trailers Chance Encounters films on our website.

  • Fulci fans, beware. Those of you who fell in love with House By The Cemetery and The Beyond, or even something more artistic like Seven Notes In Black or Don't Torture a Duckling will find yourself faced with a teen-style horror; a randomness of odd ideas and styles and 2D characters, all of which ultimately fails to scare or enthral. The only atom of genius which shines through is the snail scene, which reminds us that Fulci can inject his magic even into his worst films.

  • 'anderson' is the same actor from the war of the worlds tv series. he played a scientist who beleived the aliens cd become benefactors to mankind despite the fact they tried to kill him every godam episode.

  • Ah, Lucio! Apparently doing a take on Suspiria from the looks of it. And a Top Gun poster turns up too! Pretty slick looking and has the star of the War of the Worlds series as the doc. Icky snails! Looked neat, thanks for posting!

  • Doesn't it? And Dario already had two at schools!Including 'Creepers' / 'Phenomena' aswell! Haha! That was there way of saying we love Tom Cruise and Hollywood! Snails! Of all things! OH NO! Looks good otherwise the lighting / cinemaphotography too :-)

  • Great stuff, thanks! :)

  • Ok now I REALLY need to know your opinion on this one, John!

So, the most bizarre Fulci film ever?

  • I'll be honest buddy, Have not seen this one! I was lucky enough to have some cool trailers on a random DVD of mine and this surprisingly was there.i saw this in DVD Planet and it was a gamble to get this or Lamberto Bava's 'blade in the dark'.

  • Had i known more about this and looking at this trailer i would of got this! Looks Good! I know my Honey loves Fulci so i put it up for her :-) So would you say this a good one of Fulci's?

  • Actually no, this is one of his lesser films. No Fulci film is outright bad but this one is quite disgusting in a bad way. It's obvious that this was a difficult period in the director's life.

It has that cool horror atmosphere in it but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone other than spaghetti thriller enthusiasts. Music is always cool in Lucio's work.

That's what I have to say about it. I would love to hear your's or Carmie's opinion on it someday, if you have a chance to see it.

  • Disgusting in a bad way? It must be bad! Cos' this guy is has always done gory and disgusting! Would you say he was too close to the mark in Horror or just in theme do you mean? The atmospheric music is what entised me to put it up definitely! Hopefully we'll eventually get around to watching it dude! But by the sound of it only if i see it at a reasonable price ;-)

  • What I mean is that it kinda makes you go like "Ugh, hell nah! No no no!".

Not his goriest work but it's so freaking odd that when promoting his work to your friends, you have to hide Aenigma behind your back and deny it's existence, so that Fulci's future fans wouldn't condemn him right off the bat.

You have to hook them first with classics like Zombie and The Beyond in order to make them more understanding and forgiving towards his lesser work.

  • Hahaha! Hell no! hehe! Well most people will know Fulci through his Zombie work i guess its the same with any artist that takes a hard left or does something different. The fans will take it on if they love him so much :-) these are rare or (just odd) forgotten, overlooked or cheesy films. For the obscurities of Directors they might find it here, gonna keep building them over time. When i have time and aren't making my own :-)

  • Kick-ass Honey!! You are adding some killer trailers - I love this!
