It's clever because eucalyptus leaves are poisonous and Koalas can only eat the leaves once they are a certain age, humans (even scientists) can't tell which leaves are the right age to eat but Koalas can. So the fact that this joey can eat solid food without his mothers help means he must be relatively intelligent.

I live in in the US, but I've actually pet a kangaroo. My younger cousin had a petting zoo come to his house for his birthday, and they brought a BABY kangaroo. I got to feed it and hold it for like 20 min. It was pretty cool.
