  • dat snare

  • The fact that Justin Bieber is in the related videos disgusts me greatly

  • @ReeceRAWR Son of a bitch you're right

  • 1:53 BLUSHDA BLUSDA BLUSDA BLUSDA BLUSDA!!!!

  • 2:29, Bleed - Meshuggah :D

  • @Itsoeasyafterall bitch please, 1:40

  • @TheTrueSashsquatch haha yeah that one has the bending sound of it =p

  • @Itsoeasyafterall I thought the same thing! LOL! I knew there was no way I was going to be the first person to make that comment.

  • slowly becoming one of my favorites love the fact this dude is in a legitimate band and not just that musician fusion that no one remembers

  • Beautiful job congratulations!!!!:D

  • anybody know where i can find some good jazz music like this? thanks :)

  • @gibson00000000000000 Like big band jazz?

  • @fabriciusbjerre yes please:)

  • I've tried sometimes the finger effect he does twice at about 1:25.. can anyone explain me that thing? or link some video? thanks =)

  • @ThePhamba he's just sliding his finger towards the middle of the tom to 'bend' the tone of the drum while it's still resonating

  • @krombee I'll try, thank you!

  • Amazing

  • @Destroyer23ify Pfff!, This is nothing!, Aquiles priesters Psychoctopus blows this onto another time slot!.

  • @85Aheadstix that's a good solo by priester but there's little show of control in comparison to gavin. Drum solos aren't just about hitting everything you have as hard as you can.

  • @krombee Play what he just did, put it on youtube, and then talk. lol

  • @vanhalenshredder did i say i could do it? i'm just saying gavin is a better drummer and both are better than me

  • bleed by meshuggah at 2:28

  • @RajDrummer1

    herta rudiment at 2:28

  • @flippytheleper yeah, its done slightly different by the meshuggah drummer. the foot pattern is the same but the timing is different /watch?v=qc98u-eGzlc

  • Jaco would be happy :)

  • WOW!!

  • @twistesceo Meh, hes good, but now watch Aquiles preiesters Psychoctopus.

    That blows this away.

  • his sticks flew off at 2.00 but he quickly grabbed another stick and continued playing!

  • i never knew a solo drummer could ever get onto a late night nate show, this is amazing

  • The MAN....Mike who???????

  • @matalmike it's funny you say that... cause i literally have NO IDEA who you could be referring to when you say "mike"

  • @PLBIV mike portnoy you big struggler

  • @HaroldHarolds i was being sarcastic.... good job

  • gavin's awesome. true drummer :)

  • Holy shit, what's that contraption at 1:40? Does he create pressure inside the drum by 'blowing' through the vent hole?

  • No doubt, a great drummer. But just imagine what Danny Carey could do with a double kick pedal on both bases. Carey is already the best drummer around but if he upgraded his pedals, the government would abduct him as an unearthly visitor from a planet of Drum Gods.

  • Someone show this Joey Jordison and have him tell all his little fanboys that THIS is what a great drummer sounds like.

  • he is really good and all that but the whole track just got a bit boring and tedious to watch after 2 minuits. sorry dude.

  • @RandomlyEpics you are nuts

  • wtf does he do on 1:25?

  • I really can't see where he drops his stick, I never see it go flying and in the next scene you don't see it on the ground. Anyway awesome.

  • @sceprent He didn't really drop it, he just fumbled with it for a second.

  • 1:17 how the f does paul shaffer and the cbs orchestra know when to get back in again..??? <3

  • Comment removed

  • @mprimecoleman check Paul at 2:48 with his fingers on his ear pieces.

  • 1:40 wtf!

  • its crazy how the entire band can tell where in the head he is soloing and when to come back in at the end of every two chorus.

  • YAI YAI YAI YAI YAI YAI YAI YAhhhhh....

  • Gavin Harrison is amazing as usual!

  • 2:26 the kick drum beat is like Meshuggah's Bleed i think.

  • @Gravolez These are also hertas... i think. ;-)

  • 0:18 quick start

  • I think i shat myself =/

  • That's ... Shit, I don't have any words.

  • kingler274..good catch..yep he lost it but he's a god in rock drumming!

  • looks like he 's using the Porter and Davies seat!Saw that at NAMM 2012,

  • GAVIN Y U WEARZ TEH IPOD DONT U KNOWZ TAHT TEH STEVNE WLISON HATES TEH IPOD????!!!one

  • gavin harrison is so the man

  • Wow. This is some high-level drumming.

    Masterpiece.

  • amazingggggg the way he tunes up the drums with air and hand .... just wow <3 <3 <3

  • "La classe" comme d'hab bravo!!!!!!!félicitations trés bonne démo..

  • Cool!

  • And he's British. Love the man!!

  • And this is why Gavin is now on my personal all time favorite and inspirational list of drummers, joining among others; Buddy Rich, Carl Palmer, Dave Weckl, Stewart Copeland, Danny Seraphine, Bill Bruford, Alan White, Virgil Denati, Dave Garibaldi, Mike Portnoy, Vinnie Colaiuta, Billy Cobham, and I know there are many others but this is a pretty elite group....

  • MESHUGGAH!:P

  • @nonhasthisusername BLEED!!!!

  • @Deathmest AWESOME!!!!

  • Fantastic solo!!

  • What the hell is that at 1:40 ??

  • @TdrumsRHCP there's always the tiny hole on the side of the drums... he put a plastic tube in there, and either blows in air or sucks it out... either way... the change of air pressure (seeing as it can't come out the same hole) makes the sound of the drum go up or down =]

  • Fingerlickin goooddd

  • Gavin, Y U MAKE DRUMS LOOK EASY.

  • 2:30 Meshuggahhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • @MetallicaFran no, hertas

  • What incredible talent! This guy wouldn't know how to suck even if he tried...

  • Did someone seriously suggest that Tony Royster Jr. is no Neil Peart? Tony was better than Peart when he was 12 if you ask me.

  • @MadmanMoon good thing they didn't

  • I love the tom sounds..

  • Gavin, egy Zseni !!!

  • !!!! CHARGE !!!!!

  • This is so sexy!!

  • Sick pitch bends.

  • How many people even noticed that he dropped his right stick at 1:58 ? He covered it so well.

  • @kingler274 i thought i heard go outta time a tiny bit but i didnt notice him drop it

  • @kingler274 damn! o_O i diddnt notice and im a drummer and huge gavin harrison fan, so i think its safe to say noone in the audience did :-p

  • @kingler274 Yeah, and I see three other drumsticks on the ground from the areal shot right after that. WTF

  • @kingler274 How the hell did you even notice that? I could hardly notice it and I was looking for it.

  • @kingler274 I went to one of his clinics and he described that moment. He said that he felt time slow down and it took forever for the stick to drop on to the floor and pick up a new one. He also mentions where he blows into the floor tom, and the pipe thing fell out of his mouth initially and he had no idea what he was doing. Pretty funny really.

  • That is some amazing timekeeping. I had a hard time just counting it.

  • 2:30 - Bleed- Meshuggah

  • I think the only people who actually got to appreciate what he was doing were the ones to his right holding instruments

  • that sounds soooooooooooooooooooo Freakin good.

  • sorry....mostly overplaying -despite amazing control ..overplaying.

  • @TheMichaelseymour When the band is playing Gavin is quite laid back and he just grooves. He's not overplaying. The other parts are solos so it's quite normal that there's more chops. In my opinion, this performance is very musical in all aspects.

  • @TheMichaelseymour It was a drum solo after all ;)

  • Just amazing.

  • Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh!_!!!

  • in java we called it "apik!"

  • im so happy that Gavin is getting the attention that his deserves, hands down he is my favorite!

  • En god solo-og en god spiller,, Men jeg synes hans sæt har den fedeste lyd jeg længe har hørt.

  • holy moly - that was a piece of art!!!!!

  • 2:29 Hot for teacher VH :-)

  • 00:50 - 00:60... erotica.

  • he shit on royster, but nobody understood how much focus this took so nobody wwent too crazy

  • I don't understand why bieber's solo at David Letterman has more views than Gavin's solo :/

  • @kozyrek1296 I do, the average understanding of musical skills is pretty fucking bad . For a couple years i thought there was such thing as a ''best drummer''.

There's just people that can feel musicality and those who cannot.

Friends tipped me a few yrs ago that GH was the best around...ignored it.....man that was the worst mistake of my drummer life...this guy is like a musical flower that'll never finish his blooming.

  • BEST DRUMMER IN THE WORLD

  • Un alieno !

  • WHERZ TEH CROSSOVURZ AND 32ND NOTE DUBLE BASE GUIZE?

Not here, Barker/Jordison/Ulrich fans/n00bz. Harrison is the epitome of complexity, the apex of creative drumming...and yet, so MUSICAL it is unbelievable. Who else can make 19/8 sound beautiful & flawlessly fluid? ("19 Days") ANY musician can learn a hell of a lot from this guy, if you listen to his philosophy on composition & musicianship. Too bad his complexity goes WAY over the heads of average listeners..

  • You can tell how the House band appreciates the solo by watching them all nodding their heads as he plays.

  • They are coming out with a new cd soon, check out some of the sounds here,

    kscopemusic . com / gavinharrison/themanwhosoldhimself/

  • I love how letterman says "drummer for porcupine tree" and yet he holds a cd from 05RIC and Gavin Harrison. Get it right or STFU

  • @euphoricanomaly Dave clearly says "Best known as the drummer for the band The Porcupine Tree"... Then he says "His current CD entitled Circles" He never said the album Circles was a Porcupine Tree album so...Get it right or STFU

  • @hferris21 it was what he was IMPLYING to the audience, that was my point.

  • Sometimes I'm not quite sure about the horn section on this show.

  • Semplicemente strepitoso , una macchina ritmica!!!!

  • In some crazy way he reminds me of Neil Peart in the YYZ solo.

  • anyone notice he dropped his stick at 2:00??

  • @residentdrummerpete no i don't think anyone did, flawless recovery

  • @residentdrummerpete you ve got eagles eye

  • i love how the crowd didnt get the masterpiece he was playing but went wild for royster's speed and crossovers

  • @mtndewman1022 To be honest, I wouldn't call it a masterpiece. Don't get me wrong, what he played was amazing, I certainly couldn't even come close to doing it, Gavin Harrison is my all time favourite drummer, I've even met him. However, he has said himself that solos aren't really his thing, and it does show. His studio pieces (Anesthetize for example) are fucking masterpieces. I'm not really a fan of drum solos though, so I'm sort of biased.

  • @LittleWildman I feel the same. Gavin is awesome and this solo was great, but there are a lot better out there. Perhaps it was just the format and/or prep time.

  • @LittleWildman wow u r lucky for meeting him hes one of the best modern drummers i just meant that his style is too complex for the crowd to understand and the stuff royster was doing was more for pleasing the crowd, both great solos btw

  • @mtndewman1022 Yeah I know what you mean, definitely. If you aren't a drummer then fast playing is pretty much all you'll care about unless you're in a band. I love Royster too, anyone who says he's bad is kidding themselves because he's not. He's super fast but he can groove amazingly too. I still prefer Gavin over anybody else though. The guy is a virtuoso, extremely innovative and knows so much about his instrument and music in general. Super nice guy as well.

  • @LittleWildman nailed it!

  • @LittleWildman Not a fan of drum solos? Im not a fan of sunsets but why would I ever bother telling anybody?

  • @literallarry2011 Erm...what?

  • @mtndewman1022 You act as if everyone should have a perfect understanding of music. The average man is impressed by physical ability.

  • tony is the best drummer in the world and he knows what gets the people hype. gavin is a great drummer too dont get my wrong, but just doesnt compare to tony

  • @JonaaaDrums Tony is good at what he does but, he's no Neil Peart and Tony is nowhere near as fast as Derek Roddy. I can't fault you for appreciating what Tony does but, don't put him on a pedistool before you see what else is out there.

  • @ASUStudioDrummer one drummer mate... fucking Gergo Borlai, imo one of the best drummers out there, miles better than Peart AND Royster Jr.

  • @mtndewman1022 the average person is quite ignorant to technical expertise on the kit, unfortunately they love stick twirls and playing fast. I personally loved the blushdas at 1:54 but no ordinary person would know what i mean lol

  • Comment removed

  • @drummerman55 yeah i personally love 1:11 - 1:17 with the doubles and china accents...its just so musical

  • For those wondering about the tube Gavin sucks at about 1:40, it's just an easy way to drink water, while still playing.

  • @tallicafan250169 if you notice the sound of the ONE tom he hits raises and lowers so I'm guessing its a talk box modified for drums

  • @tallicafan250169 BBAAAAHAHAHA awesome!!

... you were kidding, right? christ i hope so.

  • ))) ееее

  • Absolutely amazing drummer

  • that kit is by far the best sounding piece of matter that exists.

  • @06livefast Good mic and mixer or you can say EQ

  • 1:40 wtf is that??

  • @4GmusicRF thats exactly what i was thinking! is he sucking the air out of it?!

  • Comment removed

  • AMAZING!!!!!

  • Hello my name is Chris...and I'm addicted to any sound that Gavin Harrison makes.

  • @Heffey02 Hiiiii Chris!

  • That snare made me cum!

    Just to be honest..

  • DAMN !!! I think Anton just Figged his pants.....

  • @MrTheRich13 Anton didn't do anything of the sort. He is equally as gifted in the drum department. Nothing too out of the ordinary from a top drummer here. Anton and he could have easily battled this out. Anton is no slouch on the kit.

  • nasty.. the drums sound bommmbbb

  • @schwaschwadrums I dont know if this is a compliment or not

  • @MarkRiches its a compliment

  • great technique..but it doesn't sound good in the context of this song..

  • @FewMinutesToPsycho It ain´t supposed to! The Band´s just playing to accompany HIM...

  • @FewMinutesToPsycho Get the Nil Recurring album from Porcupine Tree, that'll solve all your doubts about Gavin Harrison.

  • @bergerfry I know that Gavin Harrison is a prodigy! :) I only said that I don't like this solo in this context..if it were out of this kind of context I'd certainly like it :)

  • 3:39 yayayayayayayaya!

  • @Anonstylez, ummm NOOOOOOOOOOO! These are greats that play the instrument, not smash on it all day......

  • They should have got Travis Barker, he would have done way better than all these guys

  • @Anonstylez I know right?

  • @Anonstylez cool story bro

  • @Anonstylez You're trolling, right?

  • @Anonstylez Travis is good, but honestly? Travis Barker is fast, hits hard and wave his arms. That´s all. Good but not the best!

  • Comment removed

  • @Anonstylez Barker is kind of w
