I agree 100%. I have listened to them for years! My 20 year old son does now too!
I do not think this band knew how much they would missed when they broke up. If they ever come close to where i live; I will go see them, and I have been rocking since the 60's!!!!!!!
Agree - Astbury and Duffy are two of the most underrated songwriters of recent times...Check out 'Embers' in the Vintage room....Absolutely awesome....
If Billy Duffy isn't a Guitar God - I don't know who is. .... Slash who ??? Duffy is on another planet to the overhyped Slash. I totally agree this band is criminally neglected and are timeless. Sounds as good today as it did back then !!!
@biggstile this drummer is matt sorum who was the drummer in the sonic temple album, he joined GandR of course. But he terurned to drum for them breifly in the late 90's when they re-formed, my personal favourite is NIgel Preston the orginal drummer. Mainly because he had speed and skill.
@MrPrivteye You are incorrect in saying that Matt Sorum drummed on the Sonic Temple album....it was actually Mickey Currey........Matt sorum just toured with them.
@MrPrivteye Although Mickey Currey drummed on Sonic Temple, he was never a member of the cult.....just a studio drummer for the album. Mickey Currey has drummed previously for Brian Adams
the older I get, the more bands/ Music I hear, the more trends that come and go...this BAND for me personally is timeless. I never miss an opportunity to see them.
Duffy looks like Billy Idol hehe great song great band, great singer but why is Ian singing a little bit strange is that because of cocain under his teeth :)?
My favorite band, hands down. A Navy buddy of mine introduced me to their shit back in '86. He had been a fan ever since he saw them in Australia a year or so before me and him met. "Little Face" was the song...I LOVED IT, IMMEDIATELY!. Told me he got it Down Under. Ive been a fan ever since. The clang of Duffy's ax and Ian's vocals on top of it, is a combo you cant beat. Ive seen them 19 times, live.....and they never let me down.
this and sanctuary are the two songs I would put into my top 20 . I saw them in 87..Ian wore black leather trousers and was bare chested..his hair loose..he was sex on legs!..he surfed the crowd..amazing..one of my best memories from my younger yrs..my son heard me play it yrs ago and wanted the album..so it goes on..brilliant band
I don't know who u r talking about when u say 'pretend singer' but Ian Astbury was the lead singer at the concert I went to & like I said it was GREAT!8)
I bought them last cd and i like it very much, expecially the cover cd, i have never listened before The Cult cover versions and it is very good sound. The grafic of the cd pack is very nice also. Many friends of mine wish they could afford the Cult CD too. For exemple Billy Idol is also great in the new album...

I was fortunate enough to see THE HOLY BARBARIANS several times when they came to Texas. Me and a buddy even drove from SAN ANTONIO to CLEVELAND to see one of their first gigs at a festival called THE BUZZARD FEST. On our way back home we ran into a UPS truck at 70MPH> No one was seriously hurt but we happend to be listening to EDIE in the CD player right at impact. I never hear that song the same way now.
At 3:23 does Ian say "To my father!"? I know his dad died sometime back in 1990 and he got real depressed after that. Tragic loss. Great performance by them.
actually in the begining of the song, the sound engineer, fucked up a bit. He made rhythm guitar louder than Billy's lead guitar. But it seems he fixed it towards the end of the song.

This latest version isnt a patch on the old stuff... actually, its pretty sad to watch, given the raw talent of the cult, before they were old men...
