I'm compelled to respond. Though I have only seen two of Tarr's films (Werckmeister Harmonies and Damnation), I found Gerry to be utterly different from my conception of Tarr. I found Gerry to be much more sparse thematically; where Tarr's films have been thought-provoking, Gerry was thought-erasing (note that this is NOT a bad thing). The stylistic similarities, although present, do not make Gerry a 'plagiarism' in my mind, nor should they be emphasized over the film's unique emotional space.
