I could never master knitting---two hands and two needles just don't work for me. But I can do almost anything with a crochet hook and am looking to expand my abilities. This just might work! Once I master this, can I follow knitting patterns as well as crochet patterns? There are so many knitting patterns I'd like to try!
@troopersqueen You'll probably be able to follow patterns that only require knitting or purling whole rows. More advanced patterns like cabling would be difficult, since you can't take stitches off of the cord.
I knit so not interested in knooking, but the star of this show is the actual crochet hooks they are really wonderful to work just plain crochet with, I have many bamboo and wooden hooks and these are the best hands down the patina and actual hook ends are so smooth not yarn splitters , also light as feathers, comfortable thumb rests too! ,buy these just for the hooks ,.also pointed edge on end of hook will come in handy for knitting holding stitches, cables picking up stitches.More sizes plz
This is so interesting. I think it is a great option for a sweater. You could use the crochet stitches of your choice for the body of the sweater and then use the knit/pearl stitches to make the banding at the wrists and hem. I also love the fact that the knook can still be used for crochet, as well.
Thank you so much! I'm a new crocheter and I knit on round looms also. I couldn't use knitting needles cause they seemed so clumsy. I seemed to be getting crochet stitches and knitting stitches all turned around, BUT.. now I can do both with "The Knook". Thanks alot! MERRY CHRISTMAS!
@CavalierHandler That's what I'm thinking. Are there any good, simple learn-to-knit tutorials you could recommend? Or maybe you could make some? ( ◠‿◠ )
@PrincessPetunia do a search for how to knit for beginners and pick very pink knit's channel; she has some really good beginner knitting. If you go to ravelry dot com and put in where you live, you might find someone local to teach you as well. I learned from my mother and books.
@Dream3r10 I joined a Knooking group at Ravelry.com and there I learned that, since the cord isn't permanently attached, switching the cords out is easy. Also, no special cord is needed...several of the posters there use ribbons, shoelaces, or jelly cord. As long as it's a) not too large around, and b) not too stiff, you are good to go.
Basically, if I am to understand correctly, your project could be any size, you just would need to change to a longer cord. Awesome. I like the idea of using a hook for both knit and crochet, and being able to switch mid- project to one or the other.
This is brilliant! I've been a knitter and crochetier all my life, finding both equally easy, but I've never seen anything like this before! Presumably there are different sizes of knook available for different yarns and tensions, and also I assume you can make much larger pieces than this?

Why not simply use Tunisian crochet? That way, you don't have to keep turning the work.
