Nice playing, nice tone! I wonder about the interpretation though; it doesn't seem very baroque, everything seems rather disjointed. Regardless, well executed!
Many bassists sit down. Most I've seen. It makes many things easier because balancing the bass isn't a problem anymore. It makes long rehearsals less painful, too.
His way is very cello-like and unusual for bassists, but it definitely seems to work for him.
well i can say for myself personally what sitting does is what many others here have already eluded to, and that is to make things easier. the fact that no part of your body has to be strained to hold the bass in the correct position frees up movement and as well it locks the bass in a position where you arent losing the feel of a note on the fretboard. if you are sitting it gives you consistency of hand positions and allows you to feel where a note is on the fretboard and come right back to it
That kinda sounds more Like Mozart than Bach... It reminded me of Eine kline Nachtmusik, lol but indeed everyone is entitled to their own interpretation, and you stayed true to it the whole piece. Well done.
Well I don't know anything about upright, I'm but a lowly electric bassist ;), but maybe that means something in itself? I don't know, if they're all sitting a different way maybe there's something small you're not noticing that is key and the rest is just a thing of comfort.
fantastic !!!!!

May I ask what type of strings and rosin you use? The sound is so punchy, but is still strong and pure and dynamic.
