I agree with you 110%. its people like the marcoses that brought our country to where it is now almost comparable to Bangladesh. its people like charmaine who give us Pilipinos identity. songs like this makes me proud to be a Pinoy.
Check your facts 'travis6699'! The Marco Dictatorship, supported by the American Government, single-handedly turned the Philippines from a leading economic force in Asia to a Third World Developing Country. The Marcos Dictatorship is responsible for creating a society without a middle class. Filipinos either live in poverty or luxury, the majority in abject poverty. That's what Marcos did for our country.
SHE is good... I just didnt like what she said.. MARCOSES had given Filipinos more than what they had taken. Filipinos practically owe them a lot. It's not them who owes us. They gave us identity, they placed the philippines in the map. No leader can ever do what the Marcoses had done for our country.
When ignorant citizens believe that murderers and thieves who plundered the republic should be treated as national heroes, you know your country has a big problem.
Fortunately for Filipinos, the majority of the population is not so deluded. It's beautiful people like Charmaine Clamor and Cory Aquino and Jose Rizal, people with humanistic principles, that give the Philippines its true identity, not brutal dictators.
Let's "give this song back to the people, where it belongs!" Mabuhay!
She is one of the kind who definitely sounded like Ella Fitzgerald... Here in the U.S. , we go crazy just to watch this kind of show but Filipinos would rather watch TFC and gossip
yes, i agree with the comment of allthatjazz with the pinoys attitude with regard of pinoy media are interested with. all praise to charmaine and looking forward to watch her here in sfo(yoshi at fillmore).
beautiful jazz vocalist and innovator, an intelligent alternative to the saccharine pinoy singers who just copy western popular singing and singers. i miss the american jazz scene more than ever since fil-ams like her are now a big part of it.
Beautiful voice. WHY isn't she famous in the Philippines? I mean, sa sobrang silo ng media sa Pinas, bakit kahit kailan, hindi siya nabanggit? Di ko pa siya makikilala kung di siya nabanggit ng prof ko. :p
My theory is that Charmaine is an AMERICAN artist who honors her Filipino heritage. The Filipino media is only interested in Filipinos who try to be American! (Imitators). Charmaine will be famous in the USA before the Filipino media pays attention. She makes big contributions to her native culture, but the media thinks the natives are only interested in gossip and soap operas.
I think she is a naturalized US Citizen, but other than that, she is purely Filipino. I visited her MySpace account and she stated there that she lived in the Philippines.
Yes, it's about time to bring this classic Kundiman back to the people!

Her voice sorta reminds me of Kuh Ledesma.

Except Kuh can't swing like this! Charmaine takes Filipino music to a whole new level.
