There are many Detomaso Pantera owners that prefer their cars without the rear wing. It is all about personal choice.

Personally I like the look of the Pantera with the rear wing

But Ultimately if this car was built today (which it is but who knows how it is going to turn out) you would have a retractable wing just like the Bugatti Veyron.

Very few modern supercars have the appeal this one has. But to be very onest I prefer the cleaner design of the one without wing by far.

Wow!!!! Nice cars I saw my first pantera in person two days ago and it left me speech less! Before that I only saw pics and videos of them and the stories my pops would tell me when he worked on a few......... I've never been envious of any one until now GOOD JOB BUD!!!!!!!!

I got to drive a very rare 1985 detamoso pantera around the block, 5.0 liter it could have really used a better engine but still it was like sex!

Hey Johnnypantera, AWSOME cars mate!! 10 thumbs up from this Johnny! Are they both yours? (if so, twice as envious!). These things have Ford engines and running gear (so I believe)..are they more reliable and less expensive to run than say a Lamborghini/Maserati/Ferrari..­.or are they still hyper expensive Italian thoroughbreds that require a great deal of maintanance? My instinct tells me they would be a more viable option. That aside, just testosterone on wheels! Two of the best I've seen!

Yes both cars are mine and the cars both have Ford engines and ZF Transaxle Gearbox's( Same as the GT40)

Much cheaper to run than the cars you mentioned, much rarer and lots more fun in my opinion and are also very reliable as long as you keep them well maintained.

Those two cars are AWESOME...very very clean looking. I always favored the GT5s. I remember these being tested in car mags when I was growing up. I'd LOVE to own one of these when I'm older.

With the GT5S the stickers along the bottom began in 1984

some may have been specifically ordered without the sticker

and some have been removed after as well.

and the Blue is a 1990 model.

In my opinion the Pantera looks and sounds far better than a Ferrari or Porsche. I have a car with a Chevy V8 and that has that distinctive american sound a bit like yours. I just prefer it to a screaming ferrari or that boxer sound.If i had the money it would be Pantera everytime.

I have a magazine I think its a fastlane (uk mag no longer) roadtesting a 1985 or maybe 81 or 83 but its a GT5 for sure. Even then it was a magnificent brute of a car. Smallish, but bulging, luxurious, but not really, not with the noise and so on, it was a beast. Hellishly fast, but who cares about any of that, it looks amazing!
