is this vanier or totem? and do the rooms come with mirrors? how high would you say the beds go? sorry, im moving soon and im trying to get a grip on what to bring :P
This is a single room in vanier. the rooms come with a mirror. the beds can be as high or as low as the height of the bedpost.
bring a kettle, a mini fridge, bring a basket to carry your shower stuff, power bar, internet chord, shower sandals, photos from home, and an umbrella!
@6045310708 You're going to love it! First year university is the most memorable year! Study hard, but take advantage of every opportunity or you'll miss out!
@spritedrin you'll make friends either way as long as you go out and participate in the rez activities! I also know that if you are assigned to a double room, you will have to go through roommate "bootcamp"
you can always moe the furniture around the room. I believe the room is about 99sq ft. The double rooms are about twice the size.
i have had tall friends (over 6ft) that managed well. The beds are also extra long twin beds so you dont need to worry about feet sticking over the edge. :)
Too bad you disabled the ratings!!! 5 stars easy! Your room is ultra cute (and may I say, quite Asian! I saw Doremon x3) I like how you decorated your room. How's caf food???
Thanks! I spent a lot of time hanging out in there with friends or just studying. i was quite attached to it!
Caf food was pretty good. There are a lot of options and variety, but after a few months, it all tastes the same. I do miss the convienence of having food available whenever I fell hungry though!
The rooms are all heated. When it gets too stuffy or hot, I just keep my window open. From what I remember, my window was open all the time. I hope that helps :)
Ok thanks alot. Its a good thing I asked because I thought they had air conditioning. So I'm guessing the hallways don't have air conditioning either? Thanks Again!
there is a communal washroom on each floor with 4 toilets in stalls and 4 shower stalls. they are usually separated by gender (girls washroom on girls floor.. etc). there are also 4 sinks. it is similar to a public washroom but is cleaner since housekeeping comes in every day. students usually keep their own toiletries in their rooms and bring them to the washroom when they need it.
not really. it depends on the time of day (some people shower late and night, some people shower early in the morning). I wouldnt be too worried about sharing a washroom with people. you will eventually get to know everyone on your floor very well and they will be like family anyway :)
Do you ever miss your time as an undergrad at UBC? I graduated a while ago and I miss it everyday!

@starfish0411: So do you get to choose whether you want a single or double?

@NomadicVisions you can post your preference when you apply, but there is no guarantee that you will get your request

I know you just go in the girls washroom as you're a girl apparently lol
but what can you tell me about the men's washrooms. Some people have said that they are horribly nasty... and that kind of worries me lol.
GuitaristontheFloor 2 years ago
the washrooms are cleaned every morning except sundays by the housekeeping staff. i wouldnt be too worried :)

Oh, thats a relief. Thanks :)

Asking because I'm 6'5"...

Thanks much for the information.
That was the only thing I was concerned about living on rez haha.
As for the extra long beds... Might be kinda hard to get used to as I'm used to my shins resting on the end of my bed...
