Well basically it comes down to this, if you watch the Japanese you will notice they call it Nick-con dumbass. So I follow the Japanese who build them, its not only the Brits but the Japanese as well. So where do we go from here?

And second, I am a Canon user myself and prefer Canon anyday over Nikon.

Also as some will say a better test for this would the Canon EOS 7D against the Nikon D300s and just maybe the Nikon D7000.

@lazarus554 I agree with what @dombower says. There is no video camera on the market that can produce a better quality image for the same amount of cash. Only cinematic cameras come close and the top three (FS100, PMW-F3 and AF100) are still very expensive. Take the Canon 7d with an EF-S 15-85mm lens = £1400. An FS100 = £4500 & up, PMW-F3 = £16,000 & up and AF-100 = £4000 & up. Go watch Black Swan, they used Canon 7d's, Canon 1d's Mk IV and 5d Mk 2's as well as their other principal camera's.

Well, you are the first person that sounds like you may be non biased on the whole Cannon vs Nikkon thing. I am going to be getting my first DSLR cam soon. I am debating between the Nikon d7000 and 60d. i will be doing a lot of video as well as nature, landscape, and shots of my dogs. I will also be doing extreme closups. I don't want to break the bank, but at the same time I believe you get what you pay for. What would your recommendation be between the two and why? Thank you in advance.

It's not really fair to compare a D90 and a 7D. First of all, Canon is already a forerunner in professional camcorders/video cameras - they know what they are doing and have been at this a while (vs. Nikon who specialize in still cameras). Secondly, the D90 came out long before the 7D (not the mention that the 7D costs twice as much!) Comparing the D90 and 7D is like comparing an elephant to a whale. A more accurate comparison would be the D300s vs the 7D.

@AlanFlowersHoopsFilm there are a couple of full frame cameras in the middle of being developed and tested at the mo but there is no telling the release date. what i can say is that if you buy one and a month later they announce a new one, it will be several months until it is actually on the shelves and at least another half year until the price has dropped

The video is much better on the Canon, but I still bought the D90, I prefer Nikon glass and IQ. I have used the video a hand full of times and really don't care for using a DSLR for video. Best way to get more control of the video is using older manual lenses so you can control the aperture and as ecyor7 says use the AE/AF Lock to minimize ISO changes on the D90.

@roger767 thats one of the problems, you cant controle the settings on the nikon d90, it is all auto. iso, aperture, shutterspeed etc. bummer

@dombower if you use the AE/AF lock it will lock exposure so the camera wont search and you wont get the bright and dark changes. Once you go into liveview you cant change your aperture even if the number on the LCD changes, so set your aperture before you go into LV. One more thing, you can use ur exposure compensation buttons to dial in ur exposure to what u want.... yes not as good as the 7D but not entirely bad i guess =/
