  • I like this band but I'm getting sick of Little Steven & UG. "Every note has to count." Maybe that's why all those bands that work so hard to get played on UG & be his proteges all sound so boring, like MTV fodder. Ech!

  • I don't know what you're complaining about. I think "St. Valentine's Day Massacre" is the best CD yet by this band, and he also did a great job with "Psychedelic Sunrise" by the Chesterfield Kings. Yes, this song does sound like an outtake by the Go Gos, but the Cocktail Slippers have always sounded rather poppy. And before you ask, yes, I do have their first two CDs.

  • My God! I've been mentally comparing this song to the Go-Go's, and it just hit me, like the proverbial "ton 'o bricks", that this sounds EXACTLY like The Bangles-not that that is bad, but she really sounds lots like Susanna Hoffs. Can't wait for the disc!

  • Well, the point of doing so is to ensure that mostly everyone will get to hear the song. Personally, I'd rather hear a brand new song by an up and coming band getting beat into the ground rather than hearing those same old songs getting played to death on classic rock radio.

  • Point taken. But, if they expect anyone to actually purchase the song or LP/CD, you have to leave them wanting more rather than burn everyone out. I CANNOT get enough of The Silver Brazillians. That Kate Winslet song kills me.

    The thing is, I haven't reached that point yet with this song. To me, it's a perfect pop song, just like "Pull Shapes" by the Pipettes.
