We met Ken Scott at the studio in 2008 and he asked us permission to cut a short video inside studio 2 when we had it booked, so we ceased operations for a moment just for Ken. We also found out Brian Wilson was at the studio 2 days earlier. The Abbey Road mic tech was the same guy who worked with the Beatles, nice chap.
@rockermanmatt it's apples and oranges man! The Beatles always wanted to be at the "toppermost of the poppermost" wheras Jagger and Richards have been quoted to say that they always wanted to be the best blues band to ever come out of England! jus' sayin'
So, this was about a month after the RFK assasination and about four months after martin luther king. this was called "the long hot summer" in the USA, characterized by violent race riots. People were keying up for the two political conventions. the democrats were in chicago where there were giant anti-war protests, then the chicago police attacked the demonstrators. that was in august. about a month later the republicans nominated richard nixon who became president. bit 'o history.
Although I believe the tales of the misery the Beatles endured during the White Album, I have yet to see some real tangible evidence. Everytime I see a video of them or hear outtakes of them from the White Album, they always seem to be having a good time. What's up with that?!?!?
@casestudyification I've heard them say several times that when a camera or guest was in the room they would "behave". That's the only reason I've been able to come up with.
@JumpStartation at :45-:55 its a song called" I hate to see the evening sun go down" its on their second album. Also at :15-:27 i think its just them messing with song Hey Jude
@MELLSBAD Perhaps not the greatest idea, with respect, considering that George 'poached' Eric Clapton's wife whereupon Eric promptly went and did likewise with George's wife Patti. To be fair, Eric and George remained good friends and Eric even plays guitar on 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps.' As for Julian Lennon, he's probably a bit wary of the whole thing bearing in mind what happened to his father.
Great to the four of them working together. Knowing each others strengths and weaknesses. Apparently they would stay up all night to a get a song right. Great to see Yoko not around also.
@casestudyification Although I love the Beatles and think that John Lennon was a musical genius, it is a very little known fact that he was an insanely jealous lover! It was John who wanted Yoko's "never-ending presence" in the studio and elsewhere. In more than one biography out there, it is written how J
I wonder if the Stones were there for any of these sessions... 4:57 is similar to the Sympathy for the Devil intro written/recorded about the same time.
Love that they're jammin out to Little Richard at the beginning. I found out recently that one of my favorite early Beatles tune was inspired by Little Richard. Paul said he was thinking of him when he wrote 'I'm Down'.
@asdf36254 you sound like an idiot. the beatles were much more than a band - they changed the world and music forever. FOREVER. the music spans from long ballads to complete noise. the stones have nothing on the beatles in terms of being diverse - creative and inspiring. the stones were simply rock..nothing special.
@asdf36254 That was when the rolling Stones were Brian Jones' band after he died they brought in Mick Taylor and when he walked out they got in Ronnie Wood- who wasn't the most creative player around. and since then not one good hit or memorable single.
Without Ono, The Beatles are the best damn band in the whole fucking WORLD!...But look who had to ruin it...The really ugly Jap who can't sing worth shit..
it's wonderful to see these videos and watch the beatles' creativity unfold. it gives us a glimpse of the creation of the brilliant songs we all know so well
"Ringo" fans.... In honor of Ringo's 70th, I hope U will check out my "RINGO"video. It's very retro with Beatleish touches & was done as a labor of love and with the utmost respect for the Fabs. My attempt at putting a little bit of the Beatle spirit out there for Beatle fans. It's also my tribute to George Harrison's slide playing as well as Ringo's unique style.
did john call george martin "HAL" like from 2001 a space odyseey? that made me laugh out loud. i'm sure they saw george martin as some stuffy guy behind a wall and all they saw of him was just his voice comming in over the monitors.
Wow,McCartney sure was one hell of a natural singer in the 60's-Sadly he lost his range by the end of the 70's/into 80's and now it's a croak,a shadow of its formar glory,he sings this song in a different key and really struggles nowadays. Luckily, while in The Beatles his singing and songwriting were awesome (as was Lennons)
@thenowuk i disagree actually. For a 67 year old man he can sing pretty well and sounds amazing live. He was bloody amazing in the 70's too (e.g My Love, With a little Luck)He was good in the 80's too (Say say say and No more Lonely nights e.g)
Same goes for the 90's (Flaming pie). Even in the noughties he continued to shine and produced slow sweet songs such as Jenny Wren but wild rockers such as Nothing Too Much Just Outta Sight too. What I mean to say is that. Paul's still got it.
@MeIsTheWalrus You misunderstood,I'm not knocking him,I own most of those songs-just pointing out that his range has gone(the range of notes that he can sing)-even his speaking voice is very croaky now. Must be frustrating as his voice was amazingly versatile in his prime. Live,he has the others in his band smooth out the harmonies and higher notes and changes the songs to a lower key. Noone at 67 can sing as they did in their youth but he can still belt out a screamer as he did on NTMJOOf Sight

All that belting out on 'Oh Darling', 'Long Tall Sally','Helter Skelter', 'Drive My Car'..and dozens of others I can't quite recall right now, whether sung on record or at the hundreds of concerts he has peformed at is bound to take it 's toll...but you are so right...I reckon he and Ringo should bow out of live performance in 2012, the 50th Anniversary of the Beatles recording their first Lp and single.........
...and get together with thier fellow 60's mates, the 'Stones', Clapton, Brian Wilson, Joe Cocker, Donovan, and more recent acts of renown and put on concerts to honour England's most celebrated sons at venues like the CAVERN CLUB and even on ABBEY ROAD!!!
Sure you aren't confusing Donovan with Jason Donovan?..Donovan is an excellent artist from the 60's...compared to Dylan but not really like Dylan...songs like 'Mellow Yellow', 'Atlantis', 'Hurdy Gurdy Man'...worth checking out laddie...and definitely not in the category of excrement..and nothing like the intercourse inclined Miss Stefani.
