The Genesis prefers regular fuel, not premium for the 4.6. The Genesis gets more horsepower out of regular than premium. Also give hyundai some slack, this is Hyundai's first V8. Its powerful and fuel-efficent. =)

Hyundai's genesis accomplishes it's mission. It delivers similar luxury goods to it's more expensive rivals for a significantly lesser price. In this compare, though, I'd take the lexus. Pricier, less powerful, but a bit better executed overall. Hyundai jsut has to come close enough to win consumers,, while Lexus still feel obligated to shoot for the top. That makes a big difference.
At the time the Genesis was released, people still thought shit about Hyundai. They weren't going to go competing against things like the LS400 or the A8.

I've owned a 2009 Genesis for 3 years now. Other than one minor electronic glitch (fixed), I've had no problems. Great car for the money. Its interior is LARGER than the GS by far, meaning more legroom for you & your passengers in the back seat. SMOOTH, quiet ride, firm handling & braking, and a solid warranty. The GS is the also-ran in this round. I recommend the Genesis!
I don't think Hyundai went to Mercedes, BMW, and Lexus dealerships to jot down notes so that they could copy their designs, that would be pretty ridiculous. It will probably take time for consumers to actually trust Hyundai, which is understandable and will take time. I think in 8 years these skeptics will see that Hyundai means business and will be eating their words! Btw i have a Lexus and i like it a lot, but i wouldn't mine a Hyundai either.
The Hyundai Genisis is no doubt a nice car for the price,even with hyundai coming a long way from where they used to be i think they are still a long ways off from truly competing with Lexus which has proven consistently itself since 1989....give them time...they might be in that league in a few years..they also need a seprate luxury brand like other car makers.

The Genesis prefers regular fuel, not premium for the 4.6. The Genesis gets more horsepower out of regular than premium. Also give hyundai some slack, this is Hyundai's first V8. Its powerful and fuel-efficent. =)

@biyorkman Of course. Hyundai has been participating in several different races. For example, they entered the Verna Rally car in the WRC in the past, and in 1992 Rod Millen won in his class with a Hyundai Scoupe. For the rest, I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
Also, though I'm not sure about what you're trying to imply, you can't say Hyundai copied Mitsubishi; they were partners sharing technologies developing the GDI "together".

Hyundai's genesis accomplishes it's mission. It delivers similar luxury goods to it's more expensive rivals for a significantly lesser price. In this compare, though, I'd take the lexus. Pricier, less powerful, but a bit better executed overall. Hyundai jsut has to come close enough to win consumers,, while Lexus still feel obligated to shoot for the top. That makes a big difference.

@TheCls63 I'm sorry but you are just a tool buying into the sensationalism. Let me give you an example. A pair of Nike sneakers may sell for $49.99. A pair of Nike Air Jordans sold for $130.00++. Both shoes are made with good quality, yet the Air Jordans cost more. Why? Is production cost more? Maybe but probably not to justify an $80 upcharge. The upcharge is mostly from the branding and labelling.

@TheCls63 So what is more important then? Branding? Quality of build? Materials? Track record? Longevity in the industry? These are all components whick help us make an individual choice as to what is "good". You are in no position to say something is a wannabe, inferior, etc. You assume that Hyundai wants to be a Mercedes. If they wanted to do that, they would copy the car and sell it for the same price. They are marketing to a different niche...people who care more about value than brand.

I would rather spend my money on my kids than overspend on a car. I don't care enough about a car to spend that kind of money. Rich people buy expensive cars because they can not because they need it to feel good about themselves. It's the folks who are NOT rich who like to display their badges. I have a mercedes c230 kompressor and it didnt cost me much, and my parents also have a bmw X5 they didnt overspend money, If u have enough money to buy a genesis u have enough money to buy a mercedes a little bit used but it would last twices or even three times longer than a brand new hyunday....... u have more lux and reliability for the same cost ;) OHH u also have a powerful engine 5.5l over 360hp i know u dont need it, but ull see if u try it ;)

That's like rigging a game in your favor & saying you won. It's not a valid comparison to compare a used Benz to a brand new Genesis. I never buy used just because I don't trust the history & don't want to get stuck with a lemon. Someone like me will value a new car over anything used...even if it's a Benz. You have to compare apples to apples to be fair.

The fact that Mercedes and the like are "higher quality", "better and newer technology", etc., THEREFORE more expensive materials/technology, THEREFORE higher price tag. I would argue that the price tag is not higher due to higher materials per se, but due to Branding (i.e. Air Jordan shoes for $130 from my prior post). By admitting that, you just sunk your argument.

You keep talk about you and your used benz for $10K. We're not talking about you. We're talking pound for pound, dollar for dollar, which is the better value. The reason I opened my mouth is because a bunch of superficial (and maybe racist) morons are bagging on the Genesis purely because it's a Hyundai. You keep assuming the Genesis cannot offer "luxury, safety, security, comfort". I have had my 2011 Genesis V6 which includes all options. It is as luxurious as it gets.

@TheCls63 My business partners and friends who drive Benz, BMW, Lexus, Infiniti are all thoroughly impressed with my Genesis for the smooth ride, quiet ride, speed, & all the accoutrements. So how can you say the Benz is the hands down winner here? If you are, that's just your single opinion. Insulting this car doesn't make your old, used Benz better. Will I consider buying a Ben one day? Maybe, maybe not. For now, I am thoroughly satisfied with my Genesis. Pipe down! to all the boneheads

I've owned a 2009 Genesis for 3 years now. Other than one minor electronic glitch (fixed), I've had no problems. Great car for the money. Its interior is LARGER than the GS by far, meaning more legroom for you & your passengers in the back seat. SMOOTH, quiet ride, firm handling & braking, and a solid warranty. The GS is the also-ran in this round. I recommend the Genesis!

I don't think Hyundai went to Mercedes, BMW, and Lexus dealerships to jot down notes so that they could copy their designs, that would be pretty ridiculous. It will probably take time for consumers to actually trust Hyundai, which is understandable and will take time. I think in 8 years these skeptics will see that Hyundai means business and will be eating their words! Btw i have a Lexus and i like it a lot, but i wouldn't mine a Hyundai either.

I really like Hyundai's but this comparison is not close. That Genesis costs between 33k-43k. You should compare it too an Acura TL, ES350, 2011 Chrysler 300. Oh wait that was the point of the Genesis to compete with those cars price wise but give a little more. Not to go against cars 7k-15k more than it.
