  • how much for the motor?

  • srry no one wanted it back in spring summer scrapped in july forgot to change video title

  • how much for the motor?

  • and I thought out louie was loud man that sounds awesome

  • Great vid! My dad had 79' Ford LTS 9000 with a 318 detroit diesel, 15 speed transmission. It also had a tri axle with a Belgium Standard dump box. He hauled gravel in the GTA out of Goodwood. The vid reminded me of going to work with him on PD days and Saturdays

  • Yeah i miss this engine sound it sounds sweet 15 speed at the time we had a 13 but good trucks and great motors

  • awesome sound , keep the truck videos comin my new friend

  • Will do when the season rolls around this truck may have a new ring to it

  • is this a dump truck?

  • No its a roll off truck like first class same type of thing

  • @Freightshaker8v92 how many yards can it hold

  • we have a 20 yarder and 40 yard bins

  • Thanks for the vid. Growing up my buddy next door his dad was a contractor. They had 3 9000's with 318's. Haul gravel in the summer, pull float trailers and then plow snow in the winter. You could hear them coming for miles. Can we see some outside pics of your Dad's rig? We were all kinda bummed when the 9000 was replaced with an LT9000 with a 400 Cat I think it was. Nice truck but the noise was gone. First rig around home with a Jake brake though.

  • I can see what I can do I will post a pic at least try to get an outside view for yahh

  • just LOVE that sound ahhhh wish they were still made

  • A 318 is a V8 --- 8V71 at 71cu.in pr cylinder, producing 318hp, naturally aspirated.

  • @fredericia01 exactly right. the inline detroit or 671 produces 238 horses.

  • love the way u swing thriugh the gears

  • fished on a 45 foot crab boat with a 318 had to get my hearing checked after first season awsome!!!!!!!!!!!

  • probably blowing oil everywear and still runs like a top

  • No just going up through the stacks

  • Bull Shit buddy there one of the best they have a strong body just like freightliners, peterbilts, and kenworths

  • And a 2 Cycle motor to boot!

  • A 318 Detroit is a N/A 8V-71. 318 is the Hp rating.

  • its all bout tourqe

  • 6 cyl 53 cubes a cyl = 318 cubes hence it's 6V53 prolly turboed making it a 6V53T

  • What's the 318 mean? Horsepower?

  • Yeah 318 horse but usaully the trucks have more i figure this truck puts out at least 350 she is pulling hard these days

  • @Pigs3differentones 318 would be the displacement of the engine. Its a 6v53 Detroit Diesel. The 6 is the # of cylinders, the v signifies the engines configuration (a v-6) and the 53 is the cubic inches per cylinder. 53x6=318 cubic inches. If there is no v after the first number, then you know its an inline engine. There was also a 653 Detroit. If there is a T at the end of all the code stuff, then it represents a turbocharged engine.

  • You know your motors alot lot better than half these guys thanks man

  • @madtownmadman 318 is a 8v71.

  • @madtownmadman actually 318 means 318 horsepower its an 8v-71

  • I thought the road looked familiar!

Who knows maybe I too had a ride in that truck at some point in the last 30 years!

  • gotta love the detroit diesel. There powerful no matter how small the cubic inches,

  • aaah the old ford L9000 along with the international acco posibley two of the worlds worst trucks ever made! but they made people alot of money!

  • Your wrong L9000 are the best truck if you treat them wright

  • LOL!

    All a matter of opinion.

Personally, I hate the old Louisvilles.

But, cool that you live in Abby!

  • @TheWong22 how can they be the worst trucks if they made a lot of money for people. you want the worlds worst trucks take a look at iveco.

  • @baldymp3 they made people lots of money cos they were so cheap. and yes iveco arnt a very good truck either

  • @TheWong22 so they made people lots of money and they were cheap. to me this sounds like a great truck. granted they are not the best looking trucks and probably not the quickest or most comfortable but in my opinion this doesnt make them a bad truck.

  • I saw one just last week. Great sound.

  • most reliable diesels engines ever made

  • I never get tired of hearing Detroits scream!! God they sound great!

I love to see a drive by vid if there isnt one already. I have checked your channel yet.

    Great stuff!

  • I drive a 1980 Ford 9000 semi with the Detroit for the municapality I work for on Long Island! Pedestrians stare and look around to see where that loud God-awful sound is coming from!!! Ha-Ha!!!

  • Yeah I may post one soon or I won't when you start her these days she smokes white so where going to put the 92 in there instead

  • The Ford L9000 has to go down as one of the most reliable and toughest trucks ever.

  • Agreed.

I still see a good amount of them on the road...

  • I love the sound of the two cycle Detroit Engines..

  • Nice vid! Those Ford Louisvilles were great trucks back in the day....Good city truck!

  • wow that is cool

  • yeah you're right

  • I kind of figured the truck has a 13spd you can hear the old 12513 transmission howl.

  • yeah you're right it is a thirteen speed

  • After awhile you can tell if you have a old 13spd in a truck by the sound.

  • If the engine is an 8V-71, the 13 speed would really be an RTO-9513, because most 12513s are fitted behind 8V-92TA Detroit Diesels.

  • No it is a RTO-12513

  • Thank you.

  • Yeah, older 13 speeds are awesome.

  • sounds reall good man
