Since it would pointless to try and watch a movie if your internet couldnt read it in the speed it needs to have, netflix adjusts the picture to accommodate for the lack of internet speed so that you can watch it with no interruptions. They are going to fix the needing a disc to play netflix next year with a firmware update. They needed a disc now because they had to rushit to get it out on the PS3 this year, otherwise for it to be integrated into the XMB we would have to wait next year to get netflix, so it's just so we can have it earlier
