  • My favorite tappers who ever lived!

  • haha these kids got swagga!

  • ....considered a true hi point. If they the greatest hoofers of all time were thrilled who in the fk are you to try and throw desention into the ranks. lace up a pair of tap shoes and try to rock a Fred routine..NOT SO EAST EH?? The Nicholas Bros are the true heart and spirit of dance not just tap..but Fred loved it and was great too..not on par..but great!!!

  • What the Jacksons always wanted to be....

  • why does nobody dance like this anymore? Why has it been reduced to novelty status ???? it's frustrating and annoying

  • Their intense level of awesomeness totally eclipses how adorable they are here. And that's saying something. :)

  • This just makes you happy doesn't it?

  • @1Dubbelman Yes, it truly does make you smile from ear to ear from the inside out!!

  • It's funny you mentioning that, I'm surprised that I haven't been banned from the page for playin the black and white off the thing!, I'm an addict, I was reborn again in this time because of my sins I guess. The shame is that htese movies are not played like when I was a kid branded as racist, they dogged Steppin Fetchit as a Tom, when the man was a genius,Look up Fetchit on YT and watch him work, amazin grace! I' am PROUD of him,and you for your contributions!

  • man!! This is super sick with it!! yea, nobody can even hold a candle to these guys!!

  • @popseeco Somebody, call da law!! these boys are out of controll!!! It got to be illegal to dance like that! They are PEERLESS!!

  • The other day I was watching this video and realized that if i didnt stop watching, I'd miss my bus to school. I stayed home that day. It was a good day...

  • These guys had more talent in their little toes than Lady Gaga has in her entire house.

  • @petrof62 That goes without saying dead ppl have more talent than LADY VOMIT!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The people who got awards back then couldn't hold a stick to these guys either.

  • FRED ASTAIRE PLEASE BACK THEN HE COULD NOT I REPEAT NOT TOUCH THE NICHOLAS BROTHERS OR ANY OF THESE GUYS HE GOT THE GIGS HE DID CAUSE HE WAS WHITE!

  • @hugebodylover Fred Astaire & Gene Kelly admired the hell outta these guys. Gene Kelly put them in some of his movies. Yes it is a heartbreaker that they were never acknowledged full back in the day...

  • @hugebodylover Fred had his own style/talent and was well aware of and openly awed by them and helped to promote them in his own way. I agree they would have been tremendous stars if they had been white, but don't get on Fred. They danced together on several occassions and became friends until the day Fred died. He was one of their biggest supporters.

  • @preciousbash continued......... Know your history before opening your mouth. You do not have to denigrate one to promote the other! By the way the Nicholas Bros were thrilled to meet him and considered a gre

  • @preciousbash OK SO REWRITE HISTORY I MEAN=HIS STORY!

  • @hugebodylover Let me guess you are one of those don't confuse me with the facts my mind is already made up types? Sigh! I do nto want to get into a battle of words with you. I agree they are it when it comes to tapa nd they were robbed!

  • @preciousbash Fred was a great dancer in his circle but never danced with the Nicholas Brothers professionally there is one record of them dancing together. The Nicholas Brothers Mom asked Fred to come outside and dance with her sons which he did (as told by Fayard). Lets be honest "what professional would want to dance with these guys, be blown out of the water and reconized as less than the best". It could've been suicidal career wise. No other dancer has ever tapped at this level.

  • They could be their own Jackson 5, The Nicholas 2!!!!!!!!

  • Ahhh so jealous! Its gonna take me a long time to ever be as brilliant as these superstars! Shame they died!

  • Super amazing !! i had the biggest smile on my face :D I could watch forever its just sooo good.

  • They are the best !!

  • They're so great, I can hardly stand to watch the video--it makes me choke up.

  • Know anybody better? I didn't think so

  • know anybody better? I thought so

  • Ruby thanks so much for sharing this work of artistry.

  • 1936. Harold would have been 14 or 15. Fayard 21 or 22.

  • Two of the best true dancer the United States has ever produced and they never had formal training. They were self taught. They are true treasures as good as Russia's May Plietskyake or Ulanova who had much more formal training . These gusys are fantastic. Not ballerinas but superb dancers.

  • love it !

  • I can watch this for hours! Wow!

  • That's some incredible talent right there.

  • glorious, and so damn cute. wait until they tear the stage down in STORMY WEATHER. A great moment in African American dance.

  • That's Nat King Cole standing on the left.

  • thoughts of the people in the background..."holy shit..."

  • they make it look so easy!

  • And I feel it's an accomplishment just walk down the street and not trip. Amazing!

  • class, pure class...

  • There must be so much technical ability here that just goes way over my head.

  • dam! and i thought they were awesome when they were older their just as awesome when they were kids!

  • Anyone got a year on this?

  • @Kingjamesif 1937

  • God was showing off when He created these two. Positively brilliant!

I tried watching this without smiling - can't be done.

  • i can only say,if these guys we're 'allowed' into professional sports back then....can you imagine? just even strap some skates on these guys, and hockey would be a very different game, football?,even baseball!..too bad, we coulda had some more 'real heros' and we need all we can get! and all they woulda done is improve any game they came into, without a second thought

  • I wish we had entertainers like them today...not just talentless pretty faces who can't sing and/or dance and/or act.

  • we did... he died June 25th

  • ♥

  • WOW, now that's what I call some'

    LUCKY NO !!!

  • Love it.

  • the little 1 is cute and good

  • 1.11-1.22...gets me everytime! I can't get enough. Thanks!

  • I love how you can hear Harold's little sounds in the video, not only does he have a highly expressive face while singing but the little cries he makes seem to show how much he's really enjoying himself. This video makes me happy.

  • Yes, so many views about 100 are from me!! I LOVE this video.

  • The Nicholas brothers are the best acrobatic classical tap dancers that ever went to Hollywood!Even Fred Astaire said so ...himself!

  • I bet they could kick ass in a brawl!

  • Now I hate racism even more, If it weren´t for racist America in the 30s en 40s there would be lots more recordings and footage of these supertalents

  • Yenerowna I TOTALLY AGREE with you were it not for this stupidity ppl of non-european origin had to deal with music acts like these two geniuses would recognized for their GOD-Given talent.

  • wow!! thats talent!!

  • great!

  • they would've tore fred astaire and gene kelly up! lol.

  • Above Films Fred saw them do that INCREDIBLE dance routine in Stormy Weather and said that was the GREATEST ROUTINE he ever saw period!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow. really? that's good to hear!

  • @abovefilms NO ONE CAN TOUCH THESE MEN PERIOD

  • @dal4018 and you know you are right, there is nothing left to say, accept if ya want to see more of this, then Mrs. Nicholas must be havin a baby!!!! and i dont THAANK so.

  • @kalifson You got that right her baby making days are wayyyyyyyy over

  • @dal4018 Aren't they wonderful?!!!! I love it

  • @kalifson You should check out the dance number they did in the movie STORMY WEATHER nothing can touch it that was their masterpiece!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @dal4018 TRUE TRUE TRUE, but this is sweet littel number!

  • @preciousbash Have nothing against them in this number but STORMY WEATHER was their MASTERPIECE

  • I thought micheal jackson was a child prodigy...these guys are incredible...I didnt know they could sing like that...i have a new outlook

  • And he was. The Nicholas just happen to be even more phenomenal at dancing than he was.

  • @cecilalston MJ on his best day couldn't touch these men they taught him and his family the art of tap dancing.

  • Comment removed

  • @cecilalston These men as stated before taught THE ENTIRE JACKSON FAMILY how to tap dance

  • 2 of the best dancers evere right here!

    they were young here.

  • thanks for posting! What great performers :D

  • Precious. Thanks for sharing this rare clip.

  • Fantastic! So much talent! I agree, nothing can touch this kind of talent. They don't make em like they used to!

  • Absolute gold! nothing these days can touch that shit!... Thanks for sharing

  • This is so beautiful. Evokes so many emotions.

  • i love how they use to sing and perform back n the days=]

  • I am in love with the Nicholas brothers.

  • the singing and dancing is incredible....wish we had more dancing like that in this era...

  • Thanks for sharing this with us - the dancing is GREAT, and so is the singing!!!!!

  • This is just brilliant!!

Does anyone know what year this was?

  • around 1935-1936

  • RIP NICHOLAS BROTHERS

  • No Dancers could ever touch Harold and Fayed Nicholas!!!

They were the best in history!!!!!!!

    S.S.

    ****

  • Become a fan of the Nicholas Brothers on FACEBOOK.. They only have about 150 fans now. They deserve a lot more, don't you think?

  • his little spin still tappin all the way round just kills me!

  • C'est quand même mieux que Mickael Jackson et 1/2 siècle avant.

  • the only other child entertainer that had IT like this may have been young mike jackson, search on you tube michael jackson, got the feeling, its a rare old clip

  • I eel the greater point is, sadly, Michael was the BEST at what already had been done, however due to racsim black talent like that of the Nicholas Brothers, Bill Bojangles Robinson etc was suppressed If you werent a buffoon, maid or cook, your "black as*s had no place on wht TV. Not until Sammy Davis Jr in the early 1960s began to break this barrier did America see raw Black Entertainment. That's why most American black performers went to Europe, ie France where they were loved. and respected.

  • I've never heard them sing - terrific! They complement each other, but they're not clones - great artistry!

  • Magnificent!!! I've been looking for this for ages. I saw a clip years ago on TV but didn't know their names.

  • me too. i posted a question on a forum because i couldn't remember the name and finally i found them on YT

  • the legacy an magnitude of African American talent is unbelievable...

  • take that high school musical!

  • @beaverboyor Hahaa Hell yehh!!

  • isn't it sad the people that get awards today and they couldn't hold a stick to these guys?

  • Yes, indeed, you TOTALLY right ... !

  • @ladyvolsfans Thats very true! And some of them even get knighted!

  • This clip never fails to put me in a good mood.

  • These guys were better than Astaire by a few orders of magnitude.

  • Astaire actually said they were the greatest tap dancers and said of the Stormy Weather dance sequence that that was the best dance sequence ever put on celluloid. Gregory Hines once said if they ever do a film on the Nicholas Brothers that they'd have to use CGI for the actors because no one else could ever do what they did.

  • Thanks for your info. What I wouldn't give to see them alive now! My head is still reeling from the fact they did the Stormy Weather number with in ONE TAKE!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love this!! Harold was such a little cutie back then! :)

  • i had to come back...............this is incredible..........it's here for all of us.....the fabric within.......i have never heard nor seen such greatness since ytb's "eric burdon and war's spirit and love is all around"...liv.e in copehgn."..in my favorites.

check them......there not to be compared it's just my twitsed taste or NOT in music

are either of the nicholas bros. still w/us?

    thanks again.

    10-19

  • No - both of them are deceased. Harold first in 2000, followed by Fayard in 2006. I agree - incredible is a mere understatement!

  • true true.......thank,s

  • just amazing.........this serious kinde of craftsmanship has been missing in most of todays music for quite some time now.

    thanks for this post.

  • i completely agree with you, craftsmanship is DEFINITELY lacking nowadays. sadly, neither one of them is with us anymore. keep an eye on your inbox, i'm sending you the BEST nicholas bro. vid ever :-)

  • cool..look 4wrd 2 it...........thanks d.

  • Can you send it to me as well. I'd appreciate that.

  • Does anyone know what this came from? Was it part of a TV show or a short shown at the movie theater? Perhaps part of a variety show.

  • The Nicholas Brothers are so talented, but also they have such confidence and character which makes them even more entertaining to watch! I love this dance, and as a tap dancer wish I could do it too!

  • Am sat here just speechless with one hell of a stupid grin that just wont go away.

    Truly wonderful.

  • i'm standing up and clapping in my lioving room! this rocks! what a way to end black histiory month for myself...discovering true dancing icons and legends:..the immortal nichoals brothers..!..they're on fire, son!..yes!...

  • This has got to be my favorite because of the song in the beginning. It is so cute especially with the younger brother singing. . . such a cutie at the time. Anyway, I'm really sad that i just found out they existed earlier today. I already know they are truly legends!!

  • LUCKY NUMBER SING HAROLD!!

  • They could really sing. Truly brilliant artists.

  • awesome!!

  • This is the cutest video! I love the Nicholas Brothers They are the WHIP!!!!!

  • Bravo!

  • That the Nicholas Brother's talent is totally amazing goes without saying, but what I love about this video is their confidence and poise and the way they just ooze charm already at such a young age. What a pure joy it is to watch them.

  • Ridiculously amazing.

  • 3 sylables FAN-TAS-TIC. I mean it! LOL!

  • whenever i watch the Nicholas Brothers i have a huge smile on my face! These are 2 amazingly talented men and a joy to see them when they were this young. Are they still alive???

  • They have both died now. :( Here are the dates:

    Fayard Nicholas (19142006)

    Harold Nicholas (19212000).

  • class!

  • omfg that was amazing

  • man , they were young!

this must have been in like 1933.

  • WOW AMAZING!

  • They are elegant and sweet - just delightful!

  • table with 13 dishes, ha ha ha!!! these guys jam!!!

  • Great post!! I use to have a copy of this film short called "The Black Network," but I lost the tape. Back in the mid 80's I spoke to Fayard about this number during intermission at the annual Tap Dance celebration held at Town Hall in NYC. He expressed fond memories of making this film.

  • They're such a pleasure to watch.

  • America does, and did, appreciate. That is why the Brothers are alive & well on this high-quality medium, to this day; and likely, will be reformatted, again, to the next better technology when history brings it to us! Don't be negative; someone appreciated enough to record & print them in-the-first-place (just like all the other major performers of the day; see: Cab Calloway, Jumpin' Jive on U.T.). (Manfred McConnell)

  • This is history my friends. The Nicholas Brothers pioneered tap and were consummate entertainers in their own right. It's a pity America was too blind sighted to appreciate the wonderful talent of this amazing duo.

  • Great post - what year was this please - ?

  • Im really glad you put this up. I fell in love with this song lucky numbers but I am finding a hard time finding the sheet music for the musicians to play it out in my play. I am willing to pay for it but I cant find it online. I looked up Cliff Hess but I dont see much on him.I also know that this is a short from The Black Network. If you come across a site can you please let me know.If anyone knows where to get the sheet music for this piece please let me know.Thank you!

  • aww they look so cute and they sound great i want to learn tap so bad

  • the boy is great at dancing and singing and well they both are!
