On the part where the altos and tenors sing the first latin phrases, I personally think it should have been slowed down just a bit. It sounds like its being rushed.
This is a beautiful song. Our choir actually sang this song at Carnegie Hall with the "Ames" himself conducting. This choir is good, but needs more diction, like when saying God, say God - uh. but good job though!
I love this song *-* the University Chorus that I'm in just did this song for our concert last night. But ._. for this song, this choir needs more diction, and needs more fuller sound, a smoother sound, like on "can you hear the mother's cry in agony". Otherwise, it's very good :) just... needs to be cleaned up a bit.
I love this piece. Ames is amazing. He's currently the Director of Choral Activities at Belmont University in Nashville. Belmont is blessed to have him.
In my opinion, one of Jeffrey Ames most astounding works. My choir is currently working on this piece for our upcoming concert. The viola work in this performance is absolutely beautiful.
