  • Elton welsby was at a loss what to say when Clough came out with his witticisms, fun to watch Elton squirm and pass the buck on! Before now, those were the last days Spurs pushed really hard in the league.

    RIP cloughie

  • I remember spurs won this 1-0 thanks to a very scrappy goal by Lineker and after the match Clough saying that if Shilton had been younger he would have saved it.

What followed in the press (mainly in the tabloids) for a couple of days after this match was a war of words between Clough and Shilton with Lineker and Vennables jumping to Peter Shilton's defence.

  • "Happiest time of my managerial career" well said Clough.

  • People watching Cloughie drunk think it was funny but it was actually bloody sad horrible decline

  • Brian Clough was a legendary manager despite his battle with alcoholism.

Remember the lilywhites winning this one 0-1 with a goal from Gary Lineker and thus completing a league double over the Rams for the 1st time in many years!!!!

  • cloughie is clearly pissed out of his head here. sad to see. just compare this to his tv work in the late 70's when he was at his brilliant best.

  • @colavfc70 you're right of course, but all genius is self-destructive.

  • the line up's are virtually british except Nayim and Samways!!

  • Pissed again but as ever BRILLIANT. HIC

  • Cloughie so soaked here he thinks this will be a good match. Bless Him. Yes, I capitalise Him, and His Holy Name.

  • Haha! I've never seen this before. Clough is fucking brilliant! "OOOOOOOOOH I'm looking forward to it!"

  • I love Brian Clough. He's clearly pissed out of his skull.

  • @AlbertBundy Brilliant stuff - add Welsby to the mix and its just pure comedy

  • 3m for a club. Now clubs would go for over 1Billion =]

  • Is Clough pissed?

  • a game involving so many english/british players gone were the days

  • @paoloblanc that should be gone "are" the days.

And thank god. Football is much better for it. Less tactically moronic, much more graceful and beautiful.

  • cant belive derby could do bad then this but move foward to 2008 lol 12 pts trust me gillingham will make the premership in next ten years for one season are record we read pld 38 w o d4 l 34 f 6 a 102 pts 4

  • what does he say exactly at 1.55? "don't be sat rudely" ?

  • @huntertristan it sounds like that, but maybe he meant " i don't say that lightly"

  • typical Media

they don't like it when someone bites them back

  • old big ed lol

  • What was da score ?

  • 2 subs. Brilliant. Good old days....

  • Brian admits that the best part of his managerial career was at the Baseball ground, and he was manager of forest then lololololol

  • If it wasn't for a board chairman who thought he was bigger than the club and it's supporters, Clough would never have left Derby.

  • @Paulderby

He describes it as the "happiest" time of his career, not the best. It was at a time when he had a young family, his first taste of success after the disappointment of a shortened and unfulfilled playing career. But then neither can anyone dispute where he spent his most successful years, winning the (then) League Championship, the European Cup twice, the European Super Cup, the League Cup several times as well as countless personal honours including the OBE, and it wasn't at Derby.

  • @Paulderby no surprise your a Derby cunt

  • @MrMattmac derrrr well obviously or i would not have posted this lol

  • That is a lovely tackle by Howells. This should be Defending and Tackling 101!!!

  • ouch...sad that he mentions Brian Moore (who l enjoyed) and hes not the commentator for this match. hard to see Cloughie like this.

  • what a legend

  • "Happiest time in me managerial career while i was here."

    Chew on that Forest!

  • oh christ its elton welsby

  • I thought this was sad to see a legend like this - he was very ill. He was far better in interviews post Forest and post booze.

  • lmao he takes control of everything

  • enjoyed it the most

  • best football club in the world

  • Great days........i was a ball boy for this game! "Venables, Cox, me, you, Lineker, Saunders.......What more can yer have on a Sunday afternoon?" Pure magic Brian......so funny! WE ARE DERBY!!!!

  • Actually its "together WE ARE DERBY!!!!"

  • Haha what a legend clough was. Football on tv was so much grittier and more enjoyable back then.

  • You can begin to see the decline of Clough here if i'm not mistaken? He is slurring his words. Great great man throughout though

  • I remember this game and remember Cloughie's witty comments at the beginning. The man was a legend. COYS!

  • haha cloughie trashes welsby at 1.55!

  • still says the best time of his career woz at the rams, i love this man Sir Brian Clough

  • Not even a Derby fan, but I love his loyalty to your team. Quality man

  • Cloughie!!!!
