  • Amazing:)>>

  • Cuál es el problema de que una película tenga el nombre de una canción de U2?? Me gusta Crépusculo y me gusta U2... No veo problema en eso

  • Awesome F**k SOPA - ThankU2

  • 4 people came here hoping for a song about edward cullen...

  • che grandi pezzi erano capaci di comporre questi 4 ragazzi poco più che adolescenti. dovevano per forza diventare grandi.

  • I bought the original BOY album in 1980, before it was officially reliesed in the US. I told everyone that I played it for that these guys were going to be big! WHAT AN UNDERESTIMATE!

  • ohmygosh a U2 "Twilight!" I only knew of an Electric Light Orchestra "Twilight"...

    Love U2...great stuff. :D

  • i dont see how this song has anything to do with edward cullen.......... LOL JK hahahahahaa

  • ADAM great BASS.

Wish they played this live, Not very sophisticated,

    A raw rock song,

Sould be played right with Bullit in th Blue Sky. Bono is loosing his Voice folks, sad but true.

  • great song!! the whole album's awesome!!

  • Good Stuff! Back when music was raw.... I love it!

  • Hard to believe this alblum is 31 years old....holy crap batman!

  • TURN IT UP.

  • * plays it loudly with the bass and treble on 11 *

  • the old man tried to walk me home...

  • great bass at 2:41-

  • There should be more music like this! who wants to form a band?

  • @resiliente77 I'm a singer

    5 Octaves voice

my highest note is an C#5 (yeah)

& mi largest note is an amazing G#5 of 11 seconds

    both are of U2 Songs

    C#5 of Bad

& G#5 of Miss Sarajevo live from 'La Plata', 2011

    what do you think ?

do you want me in your band ?

  • @BryanSlashed Quite impressive but I'm vocal too (You should try to form a band, you have good vocals and good taste too).

  • @resiliente77 Let's do it! We could set it up over the internet and do Skype concerts. :) If you're going to play music like this, count me in!

  • there is no u2 song i dnt like :3

  • amazing song........... u2 - gods of pop .......... they deserve respect they are good musicians, they are not my fav band thought .. I am more a the smiths fan but these guys are amazing.

  • Favoloso esordio degli U2 ! Alla stregua dell'esordio dei Dire Straits. Erano i due album d'esordio migliori di quegli anni, fra la fine dei '70 e l'inizio degli '80

  • I look into his eyes,

    They're close but I see something <3

    Truly magical lyrics!

  • The last time they played this song live was in 84. Ridiculous how they let outsanding songs like Twilight fall into oblivion.

  • wow

  • The letter "U" and the number "2"

  • Man aint heard this years, It's still as good as ever....

  • when they had heart and naivete

  • 3 people that don't have any sense to dislike this wonderfull song. (y)

  • Stole my sister's vinyl, it's a great record to spin

  • This album and October are the best of U2. What happened i like achtung baby too but the stuff after that just doesnt have the same feel to me. this is one of my favorite albums by any artist:)

  • @pmpruett100 I concur, Boy and October are my favorite era. There's a good amount of quality live recordings from that era too, circulated amongst collectors, some of which is on youtube,...e.g., Silver Lining.

  • heh... jedyny Tłajlajt jaki mogę znieść...

    best from Boy!

  • Boy is U2's Best Cd Ever !, i kinda find it hard to find that an opinion !

  • POST PUNK IS THE SHIT

  • @thelargge exaclty!

  • This is U2's best album.

  • U2 has done many good songs, but this one is great :)

  • Vitange U2 > Mainstream U2 of our days, thats for sure!!!

  • This is their first album, this song is dark. It is quite raw and this is my favourite album apart from New Years Day

  • wtf @ the twilight movie shit....awesome jam though, u2 rocks.

  • I'm not much into bands like U2, but they have a couple good songs in my opinion. Thank my teacher for that.

  • that killer guitar sound at 2:55 still gives me goosebumps even after more than 20 years :)

  • @foxtweeg me too

  • I know I sound like a hapless teenager but I'm actually a 35 yo black woman from Philly, PA. However, this song has to be some inspiration to the book series cause the tone and lyrics talks about the shadows of where boy meets man. Well, Edward is a very old grown man living and looking like a teenage boy. I maybe wrong but does anyone see the connection? And I am not a fan of the movies:(

  • Seminal = highly original, influential and important.

  • their earlier stuff is truly amazing ! u2 of the last decade is not like the old u2

  • I love Twilight and I love U2 (L)(L)

and i love Twilight the movie x'D

  • why cant they make stuff like this now?

  • I miss those old days when Twilight was nothing but a kickass U2 song not a lame and gay wannabe "vampire movie"

  • @entersandman2909 haha completely agree with you there!! I hate that "twilight" the movie has to be Even brought up in these comments, I just wish it never even existed. This song is absolutely fucking Brilliant though!! U2 really needs to go back to their roots, and out of the mainstream influence.

  • This is a Great song, and to All you people who got led to this by those stupid Twilight Vampires and have nothing good to say about it, all i got to say is: GTFO !!!.

  • In 1980, a guy told me that if I liked the B-52's, I would love U2. However a weird comparison, I did. Always thought this song & a couple others had a gay undertone...which is cool!

  • Boy, October and then the phenomenal War are the very best of U2. I like Joshua Tree but that was it. The sold out to pop rock and I knew I would hate it if they did. I never bought another of their Albums after JT. They were once so original!!!!

  • @MegaJewels1 as a fan, i would recommend picking up the album 'no line on the horizon'....i was very much in the same boat as you, but this album is a change from what they have been doing......same producer as 'unforgettable fire'....while its no 'JT', its a world of difference than what they have been doing [POP? what were they thinking??]

  • @detfest13 Pop to me was a good album and showed their experimental side akin to the Passengers Soundtrack and Million Dollar Hotel stuff. No Line On The Horizon is an album I've got, liked on first listen, but not listened to since. Hated the album All That You Can't Leave Behind with rubbish like 'Stuck In A Moment' and 'Elevation'.

  • This is one of the best albums of all times.

  • great track from such a young band, awesome!

  • Hey look, the Edge is actually playing GUITAR RIFFS on this album!

  • @degree7 I know right and he only used like only two effect pedals on this album! Very rare haha

  • One of the best phases of the band...

  • Thank you for these beautigul songs!!

  • Oh shit, this is amazing.

  • I listened to Joshua Tree about a year ago, and if that's what U2 had to offer, I didn't want anymore. Luckily I've listened to this now. There's hope.

  • @RichardMBeaverII They were the best band at live aid in London. " Bad" Watch it!

This is a unique band with great moments and great failures. "War" was number one in the world for a reason. I agree that the earlier albums are better than the newer ones.

  • king of shred, U2 from the early days is brilliant. I used to stay up late at home listening to U2 3 on EP and just rocking out to its hard, un refined sound. I had a hard time when Unforgettable Fire came out as that was to me their start to commercialism, some great songs on that album but their early stuff was fantastic. Going to concerts in Dublin and half the crowd are punkers and the other half were all clergy lol, it was a great yet different feel.

  • --boy-october-war-the unforgeatable fire-the joshua tree-rattle and hum--

these are the U2 album you want to have...

    they are a must...

  • Im pretty surprised no one has made a twilight joke.

  • @antisadism = you just did^^

  • Pretty much the only U2 song i like

  • oh noes! U2 succumbed to the sparkly vampires. I'm smell a stinking sell out.

  • @thehomemadecook um, i don't know if you're aware, but this song was released in 1980...

i think it somewhat predates the stephanie meyer series

  • @under00ice Trust me, thehomemadecook knows. She's screwing around. She's as big a U2 fan as anyone else.

  • @thelastholdout lol. (sorry @thehomemadecook) i didn't mean to sound like such a bitch, but i REALLY thought she was serious.

i'm just sooooo tired of reading comments about sparkly vampires...

  • My introduction to a love of U2...thanks boys... mick

  • U2 IS THE BEST BAND EVER

  • Back when they were Cure-ish

  • @janisbliz Yeah before the cure were popular

  • isso sim é U2....

  • What a depute album...AMAZING.....

  • Sounds like Robert Smith from The Cure

  • @Miltonnewyork, does this sound like Robert Smith or does Robert Smith sound like this?

  • @jaxongrn Good Question. i guess i have to look up who dropped an album first, cuz both of them been around for the longest. :)

Maybe I should of of said, U2 and Robert smith sounds alike, :)

  • @Miltonnewyork same era u2 came first

  • U2 were at their best when they were young, angry and hungry. They crossed the bridge between Punk, Post-punk and New Wave. Even this track, an afterthought and filler that most have never heard, is infinitely better than what they're doing now.

  • mmmm....not with coldplay. viva la vida is part of their most recent album.

  • awesome era for u2.

  • Their early stuff is SOO great. Nothing sounds like them. So original and charismatic in their youth. But I have always loved Bono's voice and Edge's guitar sound.

  • it's funny...often when i hear the word Twilight in context of the recent book(s)/movie(s), i think of this song...and a good song it is too!

  • post-punk u2 rules

  • @neutral2100 and The Smiths,The Cure,The Fall,Bauhaus,Joy Division,too. lol

  • Comment removed

  • I dont think this is one of the best u2 songs. There best are at the 4th 5th and 6th album i think.

  • If you are big fan of Twilight you should take a look at Twilight Eclipse at TwilightEclipseUnseen[dot]tk I can`t stop thinking about this movie

  • exelant !!

  • My fave track on the album.

  • Boy is awesome. I listen to this all the time. I bought it when it was new way back in 1980. WOW!!! I am... old : )

  • @dajzilla Me too, I was 18 then and knew immediately that this was great. For me also their finest album. It will always be connected to this young years but it still touches miy heart.

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! The bass and guiart complement eachother so well in this song so amazing love to see them play it now how they do freaking amazing song. Red rocks version absolutely fantastic

  • FINDING MY WAY ...AWSOME////

  • who would have thought .. a gig in london to about 10 people in the early eighties .. to 97,000 + 10 million on youtube approx 27 years later .. ive seen them 6 times..this band is awsome

  • i used to think old u2 was rubbish but then i discovered song like this!!

  • Yes. Good for you. : )

  • a song about the scary sexual angst so many teens and young adults feel.

the innocent boy that was meets the corrupt man to be...that was what all the songs on Boy somewhat dealt with...

    a u2 classic!

did anyone catch the Rose Bowl concert last night on youtube?

  • the intro :D

  • I ♥ This Song.

  • im 13 and i liek rock musics rlgherjkl

  • I've gotta say I usually very much dislike U2 on the grounds of there "generic" rock sound , but having checked out this album for the first time every song is great , wonderful style and flair , musicianship and vocals.

They should look back at this era for influence :)

  • If you haven't already you should check out their song "Wire".

I would never call it shred(U2 and shred never belong in the same sentence:) but the guitar on that song is great,it's different.

There's nothing like the raw tone of a Vox AC30 cranked(or 5e3,18 watter, etc).Lower wattage tube amps cranked=better tone.

  • @KingofShred

I concur! Boy is a GREAT album. Every single song in it is the exact opposite of generic. Just a plain awsome album :))

  • I totally agree with that.. .timeless... it was one of their best. it's so incredibly raw, and showcased their incredible potential.

  • @KingofShred that would be like saying david bowie needs to go back to his first album and look to that for influence.

if you want be a successful band for 30 years you need to reinvent yourself a few times and not look back. if you stay the same you should just call it quits and not be a musician. when u2 made Achtung Baby to reinvent themselves they didn't look back at old albums they were inspired by European dance and what do they get? one of their best albums all time.

  • @u2MRtheFLY

Ok, I'm old-school and absolutely love U2 pre-Achtung. I even prefer this song to anything on Joshua. But I couldn't agree more... If the band tried to re-create this early sound, it would be a disaster. I prefer to listen to the old albums as they are. Let a band mature.

  • generic, wtf????

  • @KingofShred

I totaly agree, the usual rock based albums are kind of lame.

Bus the 1st and second albums are recognised as postpunk albums, love them.

  • @KingofShred - yeah, I think what happens with alot of bands is that they, usually, start out without any set ways of doing music so will create these unique sounds...kinda like there own musical language but the life of a recording artist is so hectic that they don't have time to, really, study their own musical moves...so as time goes they pick up more traditional approaches, due to the their desire to branch to a wider audience. THAN IT'S TOO LATE AND THEY DON'T KNOW HOW ANYMORE

  • @KingofShred

There's many an Irishman like myself that would say the above was U2 at their finest...purest...honest....most perfect...and if you were as lucky as me to see them live back then you may agree. "Boy" will always be in my top 10 albums of all time.

  • @KingofShred When they first came out they had a "Soul." their sings had messages. They were amazing! Then they changed. For me it was after "The Unforgettable Fire," and maybe a song or two on "The Joshua Tree." The early stuff was the best to me.

  • @r1skate, they've been doing it all along, it's just the energy changes as age changes. Check out their performance of Magnificent, live at Fordham.

  • @ToolsnFire I did. I stand by my initial post. Like I wrote "For me..."

  • @KingofShred it's unfortunate that people now think of them as a generic rock band. they haven't really made anything good since the early 90's it's true (much like REM) but during the 80's they were anything but a generic rock band.

  • esa cancion hubiera quedado mejor en pelicula de "crepusculo"

  • im 13 and U2 is the best band ever but i still havent went to a concert but i wanna

  • hahaha

  • I'm 13 so I'm not from the eighties but i love this song and very much other songs van U2!

    U2 ForEver!

  • hey, I'm not from the eighties...in fact, I'm 13, and I love this song, along with almost every other U2 song.

    Don't judge.

  • I agree. I'm also a 90s kid, and sometimes I know more about a musician than my parents, because I read music books fairly often!

  • Haha I don't get why people put it as thumbs down.. haha how dare you read a book!

  • if ya not from the 80s...you wont understand....they rocked back the with war and boy...period...peace......

  • 1 of the most underrated songs and albums of all time

  • they were promoting their album in the US, and how are they not a rock band? you're ill informed my friend, ill informed!

  • I can't wait to see them in concert when they come to Atlanta.

  • Adam Clayton is the real spirit of this band, his bass rules so much...

  • jeez every boy-band in high school (back in high school) wanted to be these guys....

  • anyone have a comment to my question?

    fan of 26 years

  • I don't wnat to offend!!!

what the hell does boy meets man mean

    am I missing somthing

    been afan for 26 yers

  • I think it means a boy becomes a man, or a boy starts to mature (not puberty style) and sees his future, maybe his mortality, loss of innocence, all that crap.

Sort of like Alice Coopers 18.

Or, its about gay sex. But I don't think so because of the line 'a teacher told me why I laugh when old men cry'. He laughs because he doesn't get it.

  • Logic man, every boy if he doesn't die becomes a man

  • transmision to madhood?

  • great song, but not nearly as good as the original version!

  • What you mean with the original version? So what's this fool?

  • THIS

  • I LEEEEERVE THIS

  • Popularity made them annoying.....The same for any band. U2 in the 80's rocked. I love how it is underrated. Us lucky fans are the few to know their best work.

  • why did u get a neg mark!!! you make perfect sense! U2 of the 80's were great! and Boy is their best album maybe :) I dont like the U2 of today much! they make music for the masses!! if that makes sense! thats also the title of a Depeche Mode album :) very good album too :)

  • I full heartedly agree.

  • Boy is possibly my favorite album...people are so obsessed with U2's later stuff, but this album is excellent and doesn't get half the attention it deserves. Thanks for posting!

  • man this is U2 in there prime

  • YESH I love U2 back when they were New Wave before they became somewhat mainstream so to speak. I love early U2

  • thank you for reminding me that U2 didn't always suck

  • Amen to that!

  • Indeeeeeddd.

  • Yeah!!! I like the visceral teen spirit U2!!!For me one of the best albums of U2 "Boy" with "War" and "Achtung Baby", nothing more(for me)

  • The real "Twilight"

  • One of My All time favorite Albums...mesmerizing, hypnotic & intense!

  • truly extraordinary

  • increible!,,,,,u2 a su maxima potencia! con una rola directa y de gran sonido!,,,quiza una de sus 5 mejores rolas

  • best album

  • possibly the best song they ever did

    and on their first album!

  • You know....I agree with you!

  • How can you pick just one?...I Will Follow, and An Cat Dubh are incredible, too. It's like trying to pick your favorite Beatle song. But Twilight does "cook!"

  • No, this is it. The best one. I can pick it because I can. I'm bray!
