Then again, she was part of Andy Warhol's New York scene in her youth...

  • One Man Show is on my all-time fave concert movies ever list along with Dire Straits Alchemy, The Police Synchronicity, Pink Floyd Pulse, U2 Rattle & Hum, Led Zeppelin The Song Remains the Same and of course, Woodstock 3 Days of Peace & Music. There are others but I can't think of them right now.

  • she's talkin about me!!!!!!

  • YEESSS

  • major crush. amazing skin, tall and slim but strong, and tiny tiny boobies. i wish i was 1/10th as awesome as grace jones.

  • She reminds me of the Terminator...

  • great--------great------great

  • fantastic, groove

  • Man was she cool!

  • Absolutely brilliant, absolutely fabulous (a hint of Patsy in that look, somehow, somewhere), the Perfect Androgyneous Alien Creature from the Next Century. SO CLASSY, the way she moves, the face she has, both a woman and a man in the same amazing body. Grace Jones, you are perfect in this video, you sing it really well, YOU deserve the wrongfully used compliment of being ICONIC. Thanx, baby, you belong forever to My (own & personal) Private Life, and the music too (Sly and Robby, sooooo good)

  • She's a sweetheart. I always remembered Grace from my childhood only briefly it's only until recently I've had a chance to really sit down and look and listen to her work and I must say her artistry is really very impressive IMAO.

  • night clubbing is a highly recommended album, please buy it.

  • BRILLIANT. i do love the flash and the pan version too but grace jones you just can;t melt when she speaks!

  • BRILLIANT. i do love the flash in the pan version too but grace jones you just can;t melt when she speaks!

  • I loved this Grace track when it came out ...didn't know it was a COVER. Both versions are brilliant in different ways. The lyrics could have been written for Jones herself.....'feeling like a woman...looking like a man...' Guess that's why her producers chose it....this being a live version it's faster than the album track itself, which is more moody though.

  • Great job and an original and unique version of the 1979 one by F&theP.

  • PRETTY COOL BUT NOT SO MOODY AS THE FLASH N THE PAN ORIGIONAL!

  • @bigcoolviking Agreed.

  • forgot about this crazy albumn in the midst of everything else but the recent car advert woke me up to it again.

  • come in all you jesters enter all you fools!

  • @KLightfoot100 .... absolutely fantastic......... bobby (golftango1)

  • I WOULD EAT HER WORST SHIT

  • This is pure shit...the original flash & the pan is way better....but this is pure pure shit!

  • @molosomari

im sorry to disagree. but i woman presenting the song with such bite is just way too exciting....giggles

  • @molosomari Not at all. This version is what most people know and i was a huge hit..... Its Sly and Robbie produced. Totally different to Flash and the Pan.

  • just great

  • This is Cleopatra.

  • The little "96 tears" diddle on the keyboard really caught my ear first. But wow this is freaky and great!

  • Grace can take a song by someone else and make it sound like it's hers - and hers alone.

  • great live performance. When music and art were relevant.

  • 2:39

    total badass

  • Love me some Grace-Kick azz bytch!

  • She looks so powerful, like a wild animal! Beutiful..

  • @Boldletter she is a wild animal, she has a lion heart in shes chest!

  • Paris. 1987/8. Charles Jourdan shoes and CJ double breasted trench coat on and walking to Espace Cabin for dinner with friends... I had my Sony walkman cassette tape on (earplugs)with this song playing and YES! It was raining. Magical!!

  • THANK YOU !!!!!

  • this is soo cooool!

  • she's doing something like poetry for those who doesnt know

  • Ladies and gentlemen...Miss Grace Jones....

But credit also to George Young (brother of Angus and Malcolm) and Harry Vanda who wrote this, and Sly and Robbie for drums/bass/production....sublime

  • ladygaga the copycat

  • this is a great track for mixing.she still sells out tours and she dont come cheap

  • Love this!! heard it growing up. today it sounds like early trance mmmmmmmm TRANCE !!!!

  • To compare Grace with GaGa is like comparing bananas with peaches.

  • This is legendary..... the great MISS JONES !!!!

  • The most popular and sensual androginous in the world, the only one of her kind

    Serenella

  • Great song, great video.

  • fook me she is God! Who could pull of that look?

  • Sounds good but I prefer Flash & The Pan.

Suena muy bien pero me quedo con Flash & The Pan.

  • Grace Jones is one of my great influences... one of the few famous female musicians who emanates real power and control instead of prancing around on the stage like an oversexed marionette doll.

  • i tend to like oversexed marionette dolls... but Grace Jones' aura is epic.

  • @MissCarnivale Life is not about power, male or female

  • @bufon63 Hitler, George Soros and Pelosi might disagree with you!

  • @SouthernWasp Oh really? I suggest that you re-read the post I was replying to before making such profound statements.

  • @MissCarnivale Yeah for real. Poise, grace, beauty: Ms.Jones.

  • @MissCarnivale I agree and she is not spoken of enough in modern day mainstream music. its a shame

  • Man listen to that sound incredible, guitar, bass, drums!!!!! In the "old" times there was real, good music !!!

  • Grace, é única !!

  • i knew when i came to listen to this track, some one would mention miss ga ga .well i suppose they are both woman so there you go.

  • Remarkable...

  • Lady Who? There is only one Grace...Gag Gag could only wish she have a fraction of GJ talent.

  • Empress

  • GAGA, Please, Grace is the shit, 100 years, more like five, GaGa will be forgiven and forgotten.

  • rap or what?

  • nice

  • Grace Jones all is forgiven. I hate Lady Gaga

  • the Legendary Grace Jones, when you say someone pave the way grace Jones is the perfect example of that, she is the real originator.

  • feeling like a woman, looking like a man ...coming to conclusions.. night is right / night is tight walking in the rain aieeeeeee

  • did william shatner cover this song by any chance ?she kinda sounds abit like his style (rocket man &common people).but a lot better . its all tongue in cheek stuff

  • I watched "One Man Show" again at some crazy hour today - around 5-6 am, not having gone to bed yet. It's so hypnotic! She inspires me as a performer/singer.

  • AMEN Papalolita...

  • Why are people talking about Lady Gaga ? Grace Jones is excellent and her music will endure. Lady Gaga is trash pop and she will last about as long as her meat dress.

  • @Jupitersgoose

     God, I hope so! She's a mess.

  • mmmm i think lady gaga is way better? i do think grace jones styles is better than gagas but gaga music is definitely better

  • @jajadx I love Grace and I am a fan of Lady G but Grace slays her. Also the musical times are differ. Grace was at the top in the 80' and 90's and GaGa is slaying the modern times.

  • @jajadx You have to listen to the lyrics of grace, then compare them to Gaga. Nothing more amazing than grace's . And you really can't compare them because they're from different times.

  • @PaijePeace Excellent point except for the fact that Grace didn't write a lot of her own material. This was written by George Young and Harry Vanda and performed originally by their band Flash and the Pan (George also formed the Easybeats and invested in his little brother's band, AC/DC). And of course Demolition Man was a Police song.

  • @PaijePeace Oh, and let's not forget that La Vie en rose was Edith Piaf and She's Lost Control was Joy Division. Now that I look back, she didn't write much of her own material at all, and the music was almost all written by the incomparable dub duo of Sly and Robbie.

  • no no,love it.

  • sounding like a no-no

  • @illuminatioracle ... mating when I can.

  • @trespire so what do you when you can't?

  • @illuminatioracle I do what I do, feeling on of place :-)

  • this is truly bizarre to me

  • "I will not Conform".......That's why Grace Jones is who she is! Pure Class and still is!

  • LEGEND!

  • One of my favourite songs from a true genius!

  • summing up the people, checking out the race.

doing what I'm doing, feeling out of place.

  • Walking for ever :-(((

  • Do you find me Sexy?!?!?! (In Living Color)lol

  • 16 People didn't bring an umbrella.

  • This song was written by and first recorded by Flash and the Pan. It was on their debut record that included their only US hit "Hey, St. Peter". I remember playing their version of this song as a DJ at a student radio station. I always loved this song and only recently discovered Grace Jones covered it....

  • THIS BITCH SURE DOES LOOK LIKE A MAN!

  • @sammiejoroks: you know your'e good looking when you can pass as a beautiful woman and a handsome man. (ex.: Tilda Swinton). Grace sings: "feelin like woman, lookin like a man"

  • i can´t resist it. i¨ve seen five times to feel me satisfied!. papalolita i think the same. z14 from chile

  • Grace looks beautiful in blue.

  • Lady GaGaGaGakakakakkkkkkkkk .... Grace Jones ... I LOVE YOU !!!!

  • is this what they called music? reminds me of drake talking to melodies

  • @FilleCent that's what they said about Rap--- music is music- it doesn't have to have singers in it- oh and Grace CAN SANG--- that's right - I said SaNG- if ya don't know then don'y bother- you won't get it if you haven't by now.

  • cool jive song by grace jones. move those hips and glide and slide with the moving tunes... : )

  • @tolumba8 lady gaga she is a pop singer who comes up with most unique projects like grace.

  • Guys, Grace Jones is not Lady GaGa. Stop trying to compare them. You can like one, and you can like both. Don't be such a douche about which one you think is better.

  • I'm a fairly new Grace fan, and this is just... oh my goodness, wow! it doesen't get any more incredible than this one performance.

  • Gaga is a piece of talentless crap. Grace was Grace before Grace that's the difference. She was a female with attitude when it was dangerous to be. She once attacked a British tv presenter on a show when he asked her a question and didn't wait for the answer before looking at another guest on the show.

  • NO DOUBT!!! GRACE ROCKS!!!

  • Excellent music that has moved me for 30 years.

  • what is the name of this concert?

  • @clevm002 one man show.it was on video i have it but not sure if it was taken to dvd.its wonderful

  • Das waren noch Zeiten. Echt cool 1982. Werde ich nie vergessen. War ne unvergessliche und sehr wandelbare Zeit. Vielen Dank für diesen Originalvideo. Mario

  • I Wonder why she does have vevo ????

  • fNTASTIC

  • she is awesome

  • nice !...

  • panter woman

  • Ima 28yr old, and absolutely love Grace...However, I can remember why now, cause my sisters a tranny, and wen i was buzzed (cuse id smoke wit my sis of course), ths was all i listened 2, I dont blaze now, gota young family and her music brings back awesome memories...(stoner) but still gota love it...

  • androgine...perfect...sensual...

  • Grace is so effin' awesome,

  • Today I heard a version of this song on the radio. A man sung it and there was only a bass and another instrument... anyone know who's version is that?.

  • @MecTheGamer - That's probably the original by Flash and the Pan. Just as awesome as Grace's cover.

  • @MecTheGamer it was probably "Flash & the Pan" . My guess is that they did this song first. I believe they were from Australia. (?)

  • I LOVE GRACE SHES A WALKING WORK OF ART AND ONE OF THE FIRST BLACK FRENCH MODELS ..SHES SO BEAUTIFUL ....AND SO RARE.

  • She is the true icon, no one does it better, and no one will ever get close to her.

  • PURE ARTIST

  • takin drugs in canne sounds nice

  • love grace!!!

  • Grace Jones...... cool forever !

  • all i have to say is, FANTASTIC!

  • One of the best combos in musical history was teaming up Grace with Sly and Robbie. Fantastic! atmospheric and (bar perhaps one or 2 synth sounds) Timeless!

  • In 100 years time, people will forget about Lady Gaga, but still remember Grace Jones. That's the difference between passing fads and real music icons.

  • @papalolita I would not be so quick to dispose of Lady gaga in such a way. She is genuinely talented and we've only seen her pop side. As she flowers and matures we'll see more I can assure you. Also, people were dismissing Grace back in the day. I remember her rise to fame.

  • @papalolita You are completetly correct here!! A true artist gets better recognition after time!! (Well said!!)

  • @papalolita Exactly. Who is Lady Gaga again? Oh right, that crazy psycho that tries to be Madonna, but fails miserably.

  • @papalolita I love Grace and gaga... but i dont like it when people compare them... you can't say that lady gaga wont be remembered coz she has only just started ... so we dont know what she might do in her life yet.. so you cant say she isnt as good... coz she has only just started.. and grace.. yes she is amazing and i love her.. but ATM.. alot of young people have no idea who she is... and its only really people who were born in the 80's that really do.

  • @clevm002 They lack the perspective to see nything beyond their generation. Their parents who grew up on the Motown era would have listened to this and had the same things to say about it that they have to say about Gaga.

  • @papalolita I agree with you so much. What you say is correct. Real music and just shit.

  • @papalolita A hundred years? Optimistic to say the least. Once that awful meat dress starts to stink la Gaga will be buried & her only legacy will be that Cher already released Gaga's whole repertoire in one miserable song two decades before Gaga even existed...

  • @papalolita Grace is also a fashion icon.

  • @papalolita that's truth!!! C'est vrai.

  • @papalolita You dayum right. Thumbs up

  • @papalolita 100% spot on.

  • @papalolita give Gaga a break it is because of artist like GAGA borrowing from artist like Madonna and Grace Jones that the "it "goes on...it is all connected...and wonderful...and beautiful...so relax nobody is 100%original....or what do you think?
